To the Bone is a fantastic album. I know a lot of fans were not that happy with it, but I think it's a great mix of prog and pop. Was just watching the DVD of the concert yesterday. Good job, SW!
To all people saying this is his worst album. Consider this, To the Bone is his most daring and risky album yet, it deviates so far from his usual style. He his trying something new, appealing to a wider audience. I respect him for that. I love this album for that reason. Nothing SW produces will ever be bad or "not like his old stuff".
His fans are way too fanboyish. They'd have an orgasm if he released an album of farts. A very average song. Were this a new, upcoming band it'd get lost in the mire.
This album get better and better with every listen...and this track along with People Who Eat Darkness are gems that are only made better with their videos! Can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us SW fans ...
whenever I watch the news or hear mad stuff on the radio I get pulled into a stream of bad conciousness, despair and hopelessness because I cannot seperate myself from the agony thats going on everywhere. Yet I have the feeling that I need to be informed in order to not become ignorant. Its a neverending circle which prevents me from getting truly happy. I feel like this is the first time a song and its music video expressed exactly this problem and yet again I am so grateful about having Wilsons Music in my life.
Mmm, it's a give and take. I've come to think those experiences aren't about the stuff out there, it's what's inside of you... sort of a product of how you internalize suffering. That's the difference between the extreme and the moderate. Tough not to let it get to you, but remember that it's not YOUR anger, or YOUR pain. It is just visiting. It's good to have dialogues with it, lest as you implied, you forget how to understand the pain of others. To reject it is to lose sight of compassion. And without that you really are just stranded on an island. No different from the perpetually shouting news anchor. Think about it like this. You can turn it off. The source doesn't always have the luxury. Want to be happy in a world full of anger and confusion? Accept it into yourself and transform it into something better. That's something you can bounce off of people to counter the misery. And maybe then we can all be a little less miserable. Still difficult. It's the hardest work a person can do. As I'm getting older I'm realizing the importance of knowing when to clock out. But what I don't do is allow myself into 'the same old asylum' as the song cautions to beware of it. The answer to 'same bad' isn't 'same good' it's 'new good'. Travel to new ones. How many different asylums can you find? And what can you learn from the yin and yang there? That's my take anyway. Everyone has their own way of perceiving things and dealing with them. I can't even say my way is close to perfect!
Do you want your Creator to be happy about you? Then be happy yourself. As naive and stupid as this could sound ALMOST NOBODY HAVE understood this. Happiness starts with yourself. Take some sunshine before you wanna make others shine.
It's impossible and mustn't as the same time, to be "famous" or "selebrity", if you/its have that quality and musical rareness skills. If he/its become famous, I won't be a listener anymore. Well, I do not think this is a will come scenario
missed him quite a bit! Seems like it represents the bad things in our world, trying to get ahold of our heroes (bird man and woman and crazy faced guy)
I saw you live last year, and The People Who Eat Darkness and Same Asylum As Before were my absolute favorite songs; listening to you while the music videos were playing brought me so much happiness and awe. Thank you for releasing them on TH-cam! They remind me of that wonderful performance which I'll never forget!
a hard rock piece, in an album, which contains many progressive pop pieces… Art rock and and pop rock. A majestic work which follows the sounds of the 70s. Bravo Stewen
The videos on the tour for this album have been brilliant! This one is right up there with People Who Eat Darkness, and Song of Unborn. Got to see all three for the first time in Chicago last year. So glad Same Asylum was released finally!
Watching this in Dallas in Dec '18 gave me the chills, not because of the haunting imagery, but because every moment in the video perfectly demonstrates and mirrors the sentiments interwoven with the philosophy of the song.
The best drum recording ever on this song and album and I've heard a heck of a lot of good albums . The recording and mix engineer done a superb job....work with them again.
Hey, thanx for being there through the tough times 08 09 10 yrs of century 21. I went through quite an incident during those yrs. And now I got everything I need basically today secured now! Let's just say the worst is over.
So I saw Steven Wilson back in 2018, in Pensacola, and they played this. To say I was a bit weirded out by the video is an understatement. I loved every minute of that concert.
One of Steven's better concert/tour productions. A very compelling story behind the album and another treat for the senses. Can't wait for another one!
Quelle merveille cet album , pour ne pas dire celle ci précisément ❤ C'est enchanteur, aérien et entêtant à souhait 😊 Merci à Steven Wilson pour ce vrai moment de partage.
What a proper, proper tune. Too many SW hotshots to list now. Harmony Korine, closely followed by Dark Matter, Song of unborn and then this. 2019 and it just keeps getting better -. SW is just gonna run the shit out of everyone else in the next ten years!! Keep 'em coming sunshine, I can't wait.
To the Bone: My absolute single favourite Steven Wilson solo album to data and I love 'em all. Also adore Talk Talk and believe you can hear some Talk Talk influence on this album. King Crimson as always. For some original guitar work by David Kollar, check out Detonation on the same album. Stunningly good.
So basically you are saying you do not like the music itself, but the fact it is published by SW? He can just record his poop falling into water and it would make no difference.
@@baumkuchen6543 the level and amount of quality that he has produced over the years is sufficient to give him a lifetime of respect. This isn't a bad song either.

This is a good album.
The downfall came on the next album...
Can’t believe I’ve only just got into this guy his songwriting is absolutely superb 👌🏻 beautiful chorus
Empathy. That's basically what Steven's music is. Heart wrenchingly beautiful.
Steven is humble. But he is VERY BIG!❤
A true modern day musical genius. Steven we love you ... you collapse the light into earth

One of the few Artists who really think about the Art, not the business!
This song feels like it could be on Porcupine Tree - In Absentia and the guitar parts remind me of the song 'Prodigal'.
I love Steven Wilson from all my heart ❤️
I love everything you create. Thank you for all the hard work over the years. Much love from Toronto Canada
