  • So this was taken back in the spring of '18, back on the day it was inspected and ready to be released. This is a 2018 Vision with the 6.7 rated at 220. It's fairly well speced.. 3 A/C units, air everything (except the crossing arm), luggage bays, radio, you name it. Yet, it sucks. This bus replaced old 32, you may know it from some of my other recent videos. It was a 2003 IC CE.
    But that engine fan... man, you gotta love them!

      It’s called torque lock, it vibrates the bus stop of creating torque/ popping the bus up upon acceleration/ The Twisting force of the frame created from the engine.

    Bluebird is junk. My bus company has 2015 - 2018 blubird vision school buses. They are not abused. And in just this past year one of them has broken down with students on board at least 3 times. Whe had a hydrologic parking break lock up and just yesterday a check engine alarm came on, a service door piece replaced, a cracked mirror, and ABS light problems just with one of them and this is only with students on board. We had one start smoking and a brand new 2018 had a service door failure one morning. And thats just this past year alone. This company has used other buses and they have not been as problematic as these.

      You must’ve gotten the bad apples of the bunch, my company got at least 13 2019 Visions during late 2017 and into 2018, and all run extremely well and reliably. My bus, which was manufactured in September of 2017 has had only one mechanical issue, which was with the service door. Other than that, it ran fine.

      @@vj3137 well the modles we had were mosly older (2015ish) the 2018 had a service door issue as well but keep in mind one morning one of the busses had an alternator smoke WITH KIDS ON THE BUS. Other busses had issues as well and twice in the past year where i was stranded on a bus because of a breakdown.

    Hi! Anyone know why on these newer bluebirds, when the bus shifts from first to second gear, it drops the rpm a bunch. Good video 👍

    • @BlackLightning4547
      @BlackLightning4547 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For one, in this case, the torque converter locks simultaneously with the shift, matching the engine and transmission speeds to create a direct drive for the most efficiency. Now usually lock-up occurs AFTER the 1-2 shift; some Allisons lock-up AFTER the 2-3 shift, it all depends on the model of Allison and how it's programmed(if electronically controlled). For another, first to second is pretty steep, going from 3.49:1 to 1.86:1. Because of these two reasons, the result is a big reduction of RPM. Hope this helps.

    • @noahctbusguy0665
      @noahctbusguy0665 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BlackLightning4547 Thanks for explaining it to me! That makes more sense to me. On the new ic busses from 2 to 3rd gear I do notice a big drop.

    • @BlackLightning4547
      @BlackLightning4547 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@noahctbusguy0665 Not a problem! Like I said, the reductions of RPM really boils down to gearing within the transmission and whether or not the torque converter lock-up clutch is engaged, creating a direct drive, or disengaged, allowing a difference in speed between the engine and transmission. You're probably used to the 2000 & 2500 series Allisons in the C2s, All Americans, HDXs, EFXs, CEs, REs, and FEs when it shifts from 1st to 2nd, then locking the torque converter about halfway through 2nd, then remains locked through the other gears. The torque converter is a fluid coupling that multiplies torque. This lets the engine idle while the automatic transmission is in gear, it also provides a smoother takeoff compared to single and dual clutch automated manual transmissions.
