- Welcome to the last of the old guard. You’ve now seen the new DB12, with its delectable-looking interior and strictly eight cylinders under the bonnet. That’s where Aston Martin is going. The £315,000 DBS 770 Ultimate is where it’s been.
On the face of it, a DBS with more power, Valkyrie-esque wheels and a big nostril in the carbon clamshell bonnet isn’t big news. But when you delve deep into the Ultimate, you discover the tweaks Aston has made to the steering and handling have turned this big bad old warhorse into the finest V12 GT the company has produced. Ever.
Top Gear magazine’s Ollie Kew has selflessly impaled himself on the Ultimate’s brutal carbon fibre seat bolsters to explain why. If this is the V12’s swan-song, what a way to go…

I distinctly remember clarkson doing this exact "last v12 aston we'll ever see" film about the v12 vantage.... that was a decade ago!

One of the best looking cars in production this, absolutely stunning. I love it. I don’t care how many compromises you would have to make with the somewhat dated interior etc…it looks incredible!
I don't think it's dated as much as it is timeless in its own way.

Honestly, no. It's bloater, it looks like it swallowed a V8 Vantage. It's not an ugly car, but it's most certainly nowhere near the timeless beauty of the previous gen DBS or the 2012-2018 Vanquish

...not more than a couple of weeks ago, some guy has parked his DB11 convertible right in front of my house to have his coffee in the neighborhood coffeeshop on a lazy saturday morning here in Germany and everybody from old and young ..girls and boys..just stopped whereever they were going and just stood there to watch it...while this guy sipping his coffee and watching it from a distance like a proud father..lol.
Aston Martin's V12 is always reminds me that Jeremy Clasrkson's V12 Vantage review. It was wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.

Remember the first time I watched that review with the beautiful music in the background and cinematography. The fact that Jeremy was so wistful that he hardly said much spoke volumes. Miss those three dearly (thank goodness for the Grand Tour!)
Aston does some incredible bodywork. I saw a few Astons in person while in Scotland a few years ago. Collectively I’m convinced that they’re the most beautiful cars made (exterior).
This is absolute perfection in styling but for the price, there's no way I don't pick an 812 over this.

@@bradsn8 The Aston Martin 177's were sold out as well and now the few who got one who inturn want to sell their's can't get half of what they paid for it in a re-sale! Mind you, this can be said for pretty much any limited edition automobile!

I know absolutely every reviewer points out the interior, mainly the centre bit and the screen. However, all ive seen of late from other manufacturers that are supposedly more "modern" is the heavy use of double screens. As someone who has had vehicles that rely on screens I must say they dont work, its clunky and not as good as a physical button in the slightest. Yes the stick on screen doesnt look good, but in no way would removing the centre console make it better.

This really is the last V12, the new DB12 only comes with a V8.
Only a V8….. it’s a 670hp twin turbo v8 lol. May not sound the same but definitely no lack of power.

@@spideyfanw1748 It isn't. The new DBS and or new limited Astons will still come with V12, just not the Vantage or DB, the DB may still have a V12 coming but it won't be a standard model anymore.
Apple Car Play is a $4219 option on a new Ferrari SF90 Spider. Apple Car Play on most exotic cars is a cost option and it’s a high one on top of that compared to what it is on Ford or Honda

I’m sorry but the future isn’t just electric, combustion engines will still be produced and the laws will change once synthetic fuels become more common place. There will still be demand for proper cars. Even though we live in a world full of computers we still use pens… I feel this to be the same for combustion cars. I hope I’m right.

Maybe, maybe not.... I am curious at the answer that they will have because they will only get two shorts (as most) at that question. I don't know the answer to that because simply put, they want more. Putting out the SUV is a sign of that, and they have already begun to hint at some far off EV coupe... assuming they have that much runway.

No one will miss the Mercedes joystick electronics. Aston Martin finally put some thought into it with the new DB12 that just debuted, but I will miss the V12, that's for sure.

Astons are such masterpieces of design. Sad they use AMG crap in the interior & the wack hot V8T they recycle into everything. Jaguar & Aston are the last artful cars

Having owned the Aston Martin with the AMG 4.0 Twin Turbo V8… I have to say the rear end diffusers of the recent Aston’s are menacing. The rear end of this DBS is less menacing which is unfortunate. A bit soft.
I get it now. They sell to things with cm thick make up. I thought I saw them doing their job earlier.
