@@kikaykrafts I use a pocket size for my EDC with field notes. Been wondering what else is out there bc I want to use my fountain pens. I love the Pilot and Galen Leather books you showed. I will have to save up so I have those!

One thing people can do (that might even save some money) if they have a favorite paper in a notebook that either doesn’t come in the size they need, or is prohibitively expensive, or just difficult to get…look for buying the same paper in loose leaf packs. Basic sewn binding is really easy (and inexpensive to do.) There are a lot of videos on how to do it. Use some cardstock, cover it with beautiful paper or leave it plain, and make your own notebooks in the size/style/paper color/ruling that you prefer. (A paper cutter can also be bought at any local craft store, along with the thread/twine/awl/large needle for low cost. Or check your local library…ours has a setup similar to a FedEx/Kinko’s with scanners, printers, cutters, staplers, etc.) If you feel uncomfortable with sewing, staple bind it. Or you can use cardstock, cloth tape, and some glue for binding and make a “flat notebook” instead of a Traveler’s style. Obviously, this isn’t for everyone!! I’m repurposing my 2024 Hobonichi Cousin into smaller sewn notebooks (removing the date and quote from the daily section) because I barely used it and I really like the paper, I paid a lot of money for it, and I don’t want to waste it. My current favorite notebook is an A6 (and A5) Maruman Septcolour. It is slightly off white, but not cream, and it has a lovely tiny 2.5mm (maybe 3mm) grid that I really like…my handwriting isn’t that small..but it fits perfectly into 2 or 3 of the grid lines, so I don’t wind up wandering all over the place with a “standard” grid/dot grid. Great with fountain pens, delightfully smooth!

Thank you for dropping by and sharing such a comprehensive guide to those curious about how to recycle their notebooks - or make their own from loose-leaf. Isn’t it great how the stationery world has so much space for crafty people to explore? I love it!

I found you randomly and it was very fun and relaxing to watch you go through the tiny notebooks. I myself are on the hunt for a small notebook to collect my thoughts and notes in. By the way, the characters on the plastic cover of the FANYANTAN paper are the characters for "Tomoe River Paper".
