The other groups mostly danced and looked pretty for their opening introduction but Mamamoo slayed vocally. No points were awarded for the intro's but it might have been intimidating. Mamamoo had a two-day concert in Daegu, each running about 4 to 4.5 hours, the weekend before the Decalcomanie performance. They were very tired, performed 1st and got second place on that opening round. After the Good Luck stage, Wheein left early because she was still working through her anxiety issues and Solar's back tightened up after the slip, on stage, leaving Hwasa and Moonbyul to attend the final meeting when the rankings were announced. Because of that, they ended up representing Mamamoo in the unit rounds for the following show.
Before the show started all the groups were interviewed and asked what group they would not want to go against and pretty much all of them answered mamamoo. That's how you know they have that reputation of not giving a bad performance. One member of Lovelyz even said that they should be there as mentors and not competitors. But mamamoo is humble and genuinely good persons, they just want a friendly competition and they treated everyone fairly despite of seniority and stuff.
I’m pretty sure mamamoo did queendom in addition to promoting and touring for their 4 seasons project albums. Which is honestly just insane because I feel like Queendom alone would take all of my effort and energy. 🤣 these girls are just on a whole other level.
To be fair tho, all the groups really did outstanding and even as a Mamamoo stan, I have to say there were a few performances from the other groups that I thought were the best in the season. There was one from Oh My Girl that blew me away, it was just gorgeous.
You don’t have to react to it all, but it is pretty fun to look through the episodes to see the other groups react to Mamamoo. At the beginning of the show the groups got to go up to a board and put the groups in an order that they thought they would win. A bunch of the other groups kept going up to put Mamamoo as first, even after Mamamoo had moved themselves down the list. 🤣 they’re such humble queens, and you can tell how much the other groups admire them.
I love when we can appreciate all talent!! Yes I definitely will be back with a part 2. AOA has caught my eye too 😂

Mamamoo could just be standing there or sitting down singing and everyone would be amazed. They don’t need props or dancers to fill up a stage. They are all rounder artist that can sing, dance, rap and more.

Good comments but I had to chuckle when you said MMM was iconic even back then since they had been around for over 5 years at that point. Decalcomanie is one of their most iconic songs so you should definitely check out the MV.
Yes, that was Park Bom from 2NE1. There were a number of cute interactions between Park Bom and Mamamoo during Queendom. Bom was lonely since she was competing as a solo artist vs 5 groups and at one point she asked whether she could join Mamamoo. Hwasa said Come on over! Another time they were in their dressing rooms and MMM's was next to Park Bom's. MMM starting singing a 2NE1 song (loudly of course) and Park Bom joined in. Just adorable.
To get an idea of how radically MMM re-imagined Good Luck watch the MV for AOA's original version. MMM took a good but fairly typical girl group song and turned it into a mini version of a MMM 4 Seasons concert using a Girls On Top concept, which they derived from a line in the song. During the 4 Seasons concerts each member performed a 10-20 minute solo stage. For Good Luck each member is introduced as a different Girl on Top with a matching musical genre - Hwasa as a Pirate Queen with reggae, Moonbyul as a Dominatrix Gangster with hip hop, Solar as a Top Madam with cabaret jazz, and Wheein as a Femme Fatale with r&b. Then they came together to rock the finale. So in a few short minutes they rearranged Good Luck in 5 different musical genres, added a new rap verse by Moonbyul and inserted a rap by Solar doing part of AOA member Jimin's iconic solo song Puss. Rather than do a "straight" cover they used AOA's song as a springboard for their own creativity and came up with the most wildly inventive and entertaining cover in that round of Queendom.
Hwasa's pirate head scarf does seem to be tied like a durag and naturally that brought her criticism for CA. Moonbyul also caught flak for having guys on chains and dog collars and was accused of degrading and hating men. As far as I was able to tell, none of the critics seemed to get the Girls On Top performance concept or the characters that Hwasa and Moonbyul were playing. It's up to you whether or not Hwasa gets a pass for styling her pirate scarf the way she did but the accusations against Moonbyul were laughable. They clearly didn't pay attention to the lyrics in her rap or notice that the supposed victims were having the time of their lives. It may be risque in kpop's mostly PG world but in the real world role play between consenting adults is nothing to get upset about and of course guys often like it when the girl is on top. ;)
Moonbyul did what 👀👀😂 alright now! I had no idea the story behind the performance, thanks for telling me! Mamamoo is a group that takes chances so idk why she was criticized for that but I’m an adult and didn’t take away her hating on men but that’s just my opinion lol

To answer your initial question, I MUCH preferred Queendom and the live crowd. It just gives a whole other vibe. Also Mamamoo is among the best with crowd interaction. Kingdom while having great performances just seemed to lack that vibrancy you get with a live audience.
Also, I know I late to this video, but it just pop up on my recommended and, well, MAMAMOO, better yet, MAMAMOO on Queendom.
I loved Queendom. I knew of all the groups. Have been a fan of Mamamoo and (G)I-DLE. Park Bom is from the group that solidified my love for K-Pop, in particular the girl groups, 2NE1.
Every one of the artists that performed on Queendom had at least one stand-out stage, with Mamamoo being the most consistent IMO. (G)I-DLE's first stage pretty much set the tone for the rest of the show. Their remix of La ta ta really showed off what this format could be. All the rest of the opening performances, while good, didn't really stand out as anything other than a slight update to their original song. That being said, Oh My Girl REALLY learned from (G)I-DLE's opening stage and just killed the rest of their stages.
Stand out stages IMO.
AOA: "Egotistic" (Mamamoo cover) and "Destiny" final stage
Oh My Girl: "Destiny" (Lovelyz cover), "Twilight" fandom request and "Guerilla" final stage. Honestly the Destiny stage is what got me to really pay attention to Oh My Girl. Oh My Girl and Lovelyz both have very similar concepts and sounds. Oh My Girl did a masterful job in re-imagining the original and truly making theirs.
Lovelyz: I'm gonna put "Sixth Sense" here, it's a good performance but this was during the "covers" portion where the groups were supposed to cover one of the other artists songs. "Sixth Sense" is actually a Brown Eyed Girls song. Still, a good performance tho. "Cameo" & "Moonlight" were IMO their stand-out tho.
(G)I-DLE: "Latata" opening stage and set the tone for the rest of the acts. "Put it Straight"(nightmare ver.) is probably the single best performance of the show, and "Lion" final stage (Soyeon actually wrote and produced the song for Queendom).
Park Bom(2NE1): I felt bad for Bom. Being the only soloist could not have been easy, especially given the circumstances of 2NE1's disbandment. That being said, she knows how to fill the stage and had possibly the most sentimental stages of the entire show. "Eyes, Nose, Lips" (Taeyang [Big Bang] cover) was 3/4 her just singing while sitting and she owned the stage. "Wanna Go Back" final stage. Being a Blackjack this one hit hard.
Mamaoo: ALL. As I said earlier they were the most consistent group of the entire show.
Sorry for the long post but Queendom(1) is possibly my favorite competition show.
