Alastor being antagonistic to Lucifer is the equivalent of a deer picking a fight with a Grizzly bear like Lucifer would eat him alive if it wasn't for Charlie being there.

Him there just to watch people fail seems like a weak argument if he has to deal random demons showing up to wreck the place and now it's also angels targeting the place and I don't think Alastor can fend off the likes of Adam

Man, no one really talks about it.. but Husk just on the floor, on a leash, actually quivering in fear and visible shaking.. it's scary. Especially since we learned he was a past OVERLORD last episode. That's insane.
I really like the portrayal of depression here. Lucifer while being lonely, he talks to himself, hating his duck-creations and distances himself from family. While being awkward and starting to overthink, he spaces out, not listening because he got so much on his mind and it’s difficult to concentrate. Him jokingly commenting on the railing was very sad to see. But I love we can see the contrast between that and his cheerful personality. Can’t wait to see Lilith in the future! Edit: Lmao just noticed Lucifer called Vaggie "Maggie" 😂😂.
I’ve seen many versions of Lucifer over the years, from the deceiving monster, to the conniving tempter, to a misunderstood angel, to a debauched deal maker, but this is the first time I think I’ve seen Lucifer be . . . depressed. And looking at his backstory here it’s easy to see why he’s like this. He wasn’t evil when he gave Eve the apple, he just wanted to give humanity free will to control their own destinies. The result: his home and people banished him to hell and the people he gave free will to are now pouring into hell by the uncountable numbers because they choose to do bad and horrible things. The good he thought he was doing and THIS was his reward: a living cautionary tale to not go against Heaven’s rules and warden to the worst of the worst. What’s the expression? “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.”
This version of Lucifer feels so autism-coded and his backstory even looks like a retelling of the Bible through the pov of a neurodivergent person. He stood out from the rest of his monogamous kind as a creative thinker whose ways of seeing things went against their established norm (like how many neurodivergent people’s ways of seeing/handling things differs from how it “traditionally” is). For that, he was punished and looked down on , which led him to fall into a depression over daring to not align with the other angels (depression/low self esteem is common among neurodivergents due to trauma of ableism). No wonder I’m so attached to him lmao
As soon as I saw the scene where he freaks out over his daughter calling him, I realized he’s not absent because he doesn’t care, he’s absent because he feels like everything is hopeless and he physically CANT help Charlie. To him, everything he tries to help with falls apart. He doesn’t want to destroy her dreams, and sees himself so much in her that he doesn’t want her to end up like him.
The amount of people shitting on lucifer is sad. I see him as a terrible father, but not because he doesn't care. He cares immensely. He's just shit at the job
@@TamWam_ same I wanted to reach through the screen and hug him. he obviously wants to be a good dad but doesn't know how. I cried during the song "More than anything".
That "Haha, *f### you*" from Alastor is incredible He's never been shown actually angry or insulted for more than a few frames, and here he just shows how intimidating he is where it takes the literal ruler of hell to piss him off
The best part is, Alastor knows, in no uncertain terms, that he is 100% utterly and completely powerless before Lucifer, so ALL he has to work with is his bravado, aggresive politeness, and ability to get under your skin. And that's what he does. Everyone else, he usually opens with a little show of his power, here... not a whimper of it. Just jabs about how he's a better dad. Alastor is scary as fuck because he understands who he is up against so well, and because he uses cold, hard logic, and if he hast to wait 8 years, he will. Patiently. The man is a complete menace.
Oh yeah, he’s definitely on the spectrum. Heaven was so ableist for kicking him out just for thinking differently (yeah I know he ended up bringing evil into the world, but he never meant to)
I realized he hyperfocused on ducks because it was one of his big and few happy moments with Charlie. Charlie loved the golden duck he made in the flashback, and whatever story he told her about it, so he makes ducks, because little Charlie loved them. (He had no ducks in his room or workshop before that).
I see it differently. I see Alastor's psychopathy fully at play. He's pretending to have emotions and attachments he doesn't have to get his way. He knows Lucifer sees through his shit and is a real threat to whatever plan Alastor has.
A neat touch I love with Lucifer is his ring tone being the iconic circus music, and during his song with charlie we SEE the big top tent as a background, he IS the ringmaster of it like how we've seen the sins in HB as different circus acts
Let’s see, mammon the clown, Ozzie is most likely a magician, Satan is probably the strongman, possibly the lion tamer, not sure what Bee is, and we know next to nothing about Leviathan and Belphagor.
Fun Fact: the cown music on his phone is actualy called "March of the Gladiators" and was written by an Austrian as a wartime marching tune. Its supposed to be intimidating xD
That is kind of the biggest irony with that song. Everyone associates it with circuses. Mind you, there are people who find clowns scary, but they aren't a whole circus.
@twistedmyth5860 on the other hand, Lucifer probably meant it in the modern context anyways, there's a definite circus theme with the Sins, and Lucifer is the Ringmaster
Despite Alastor being a demon he’s one of the few who doesn’t CONSTANTLY swear. Perhaps it’s because he believes it’s beneath him and not seen as classy, and he only does it when he’s genuinely mad or upset which isn’t often. I kinda like that about his character.
What I've heard theorized is that it's a habit developed in his time as a radio host. Can't swear on certain radio programs, so it makes sense that he trained himself not to swear.
FINALLY SOMEONE ACKNOLEDGED THAT ALASTOR WAS GONE FOR 7 YEARS AND THAT LILITH ALSO DISAPPEARED 7 YEARS AGO My theory is that Lilith and Alastor made a deal where Alastor's side of the deal was to help Charlie with her hotel plan, or if not that then Alastor was supposed to look after Charlie and help her with whatever she was doing and Lilith side was something more sinister where she needed to disappear for a long while.
Good theory. But there was another theory that Alastor made a deal with Lilith when he was alive as he was part of some occult. His deal with Lilith is why he was so powerful and able to effortlessly kill off other overlords. As for why they were both gone for 7 years, Lilith probably needed Alastor's help with something. I wouldn't be surprised if she ordered Alastor to look after Charlie and keep her safe while Lilith is busy with whatever she's doing right now
@@comicsans6264 or how about this theory: Lilith made a deal with Alastor while he was alive/ shortly after he arrived in hell, and part of the deal was to take out overlords who were causing her problems, then when something happened and she went into hiding Alastor had to go with her. after that she sent Alastor back out to protect Charlie when she found out about the hotel Idea, because he is among the top 10 overlords and contractually bound to her. Razzle and Dazzle are cute and all but lets face it they can't really keep Charlie safe, so Lilith sent someone who could. She would also know that Adam, her first husband, was the leader of the exterminators and she didn't know if he would target Charlie to get back at her for her part in Eve's fall and the eventual damnation of the sinners. Maybe when Lilith disappeared she took Alastor with her for assistance gathering more power to take down the angels, or to see if angels could be killed like sinners. there are so many possibilities here and I could speculate for hours.
I think he’s only helping Charlie the way he is hoping to get on Lilliths good side, or work his way up the ranks to the point where he can demand his release from one of the morningstars. It wouldn’t surprise me if Lilith told Alastor to look after Charlie but the timing feels weird that he and Lilith vanished for 7 years then suddenly he’s coming back and watching over Charlie. If his job was just to protect her, he’d do it as a side hustle from the shadows. I think others are right about Lilith owning him from the start or him making a deal with her, and it never bothered him and he had free reign. Then all of a sudden she was just like come with me I need you for something and Alastor was SUPER inconvenienced having to be stuck with her for 7 years at her beck and call. An alternative to why he’s so snippy and mocking with Lucifer, making parallels about being Charlie’s pseudo dad, and trying to get on Charlie’s good side is that he might LITERALLY be trying to become Charlie’s new dad, so again Lilith let’s him go, or sees him as an equal or something. Or that he can use some twisted ‘our little girl loves me’ card. It’s been established Lilith and Lucifer split, and even when Charlie was a kid it seemed like there was a rift between them. It makes me wonder if she only saw full appeal in Lucifer when he was an angel/more powerful or before he got depression and was more active in showing his powers. It makes me sad that she probably sees Lucifer as weak, and thus unattractive, because the amount of fans who love him rn for being a CUTIE and a goob. I have a feeling Liliths coldness towards her husband is going to leave her with less fans tbh.
@@Blentifulbollipops86537 part of me thinks when she left might have been her not being able to handle the loss of the angel she fell in love with. we know he broke after being banished to hell so maybe she stuck it out with him until she couldn't handle it anymore and left. or maybe she "left him" to protect him from something. I love the idea that she pulled the wool over even Lucifer's eyes to protect her family but I know it's wishful thinking.
A lot of people will assume Alastor has been ordered to help Charlie when the more obvious answer is he is trying to get out of his contract with Lilith by getting one with Charlie to trade.
All the Alastor and Lucifer moments aside, I loved the small scenes where Angel and Sir Pentious try their hardest to protect Nifty durring the attack. Like, Nifty might be messed up in the head but she surprisingly brings out the best in people
I love the cheerful jingle that plays after Alastor gets finished 'disciplining' Husk, really gives a massive mood-swing that further adds to the creepy nature of the character. Alastor is legit the main reason I watch this series, as outside of him while I do like the show it definitely feels like the plot is on fast-forward and doing speed at the same time
@@2222nova3 Oh I don't blame Vivzie for that, 8 episodes was definitely not enough for a story of this sort. But regardless of what the reason is... 8 episodes is too short and the pacing is definitely suffering for it.
I believe you are correct about Lilith and Alastor. If he sold his soul to her for power before he died, it might explain why he was so overpowered when he got to hell
there is also another theory that he used vodoo magic while alive(people got it from the symbols aprearing while he trasform or do some creppy shit) and because of everything he did with it while alive he is so powerfull here
The reason we always see Alistor smiling is that he sees frowning, or not smiling as weakness. That’s why he’s still smiling when husk drop the bombshell.
1. Lucifer being an anxious, depressed mess that acts overly friendly to compensate for how awkward he is is a *mood* 2. Friendly reminder that Alastor doesn't really swear, so the fact that Lucifer got that far under his skin says a lot. Also, there's no way that Alastor also being on a leash isnt very much literal and that it doesn't have something to do with Lilith.
@@bocholotthethird3159 dude I thought that immediately. looking back at the pilot he literally showed up right after she called her mom. yes I know he saw the news broadcast but he also waited until after she called her mom before making himself known, who knows how long he was waiting nearby. they did have to go pick up Angel Dust after all, and drive back to the hotel way out on the outskirts of town.
I think Alastor is a lot more incecure about his position of power than he leads everyone to believe. He has this facade of being this all powerful being. Throughout this episode alone, he picked a fight with LUCIFER HIMSELF, got absolutely outraged at Husk for even MENTIONING he's on a "leash" as well, and the line "its time i remind everyone why im here" gives "i have to show everyone that i AM as powerful as i act, you HAVE to believe me, look at what im doing, dont mess with me"
It doesn't end well with them, but Alastor's smile and the look in his eyes is more genuine when Mimzy shows up. Plus, he initiates the hug with her, tho it's side info he doesn't like being touched. It's really cute for him, honestly.
24:42 whenever alastor drops the radio voice... its always chilling. you know thats when he's REALLY angry, always gives me chills, with husk taking him away from trying to show up lucifer
Lucifer's design is based on a Ringleader of a circus. That's why his ringtone has clown music. All the Deadly Sins are based on some aspect of a circus performer. Beelzebub is a trapeze performer, Mammon is a clown, and I think Ozzy is a animal tamer, but not sure and until we see the others I don't know what the others are based on.
It’s cool they show the difference in how Alastor handles people. With people he’s stronger than he flexes but with people like Lucifer who he can’t intimidate he has to go a more manipulative route.
Lucifer's song with Charlie was incredible. I heard this show was pitched as a classic Disney musical set in Hell. Man, did that hit the nail on the head.
Y'know, something interesting i noticed was that when Lucifer hugged Charlie in the beginning, Alastor seemed annoyed at that. His left eye literally twitches 😅. Not to mention the amount of times he tries to stick close to Charlie.
I once heard someone say that the snake on his hat looks like a worm and silly, but now I feel like it was intentional. He is such a goober and having a theme park is totally on brand.
Oh man it was great seeing Alastor being a bit insecure not just from Lucifer but even Husk! I hate characters that are bascially written to be gods that are unbeatable no matter what but its refreshing seeing op caharacters struggling too every now and then. It makes them more realistic. Also the electro swing really fits how they made Lucifers personality and man what a bop that was.
18:55 Well Mimsy may be new to the new audience, but people following Vivzie for years know her very well. In fact, she was originally supposed to be part of the main cast in the pilot, but was put aside last minute or something. We all knew she was coming, and Vivzie did say that her arrival would mark something of a turning point in the season……based on what comes next, I must say she was spot on.
Honestly I think that Alastor DOES care, but can't let that be known because to get the job done he needs everybody to fear him. He may not have given a shit in the beginning but in doing everything for Charlie and watching the hotel grow I think he's starting to actually care. Him showing it would kill his mystery with the other characters which would be counter productive to his goals.
It might be why he was irritated the moment Luci walked in, because Charlie's dad has been absent which gives the impression he doesn't care and isn't supportive, he's just here to do something because his daughter asked him for something, so that's why Alastor interrupts the song, he's showing Charlie that if she needs support that he will support her (keep in mind he wasn't present for the phone call so he wasn't aware Charlie just wanted her dad to set up a meeting in heaven until after he dealt with Mimze, and that's also probably why he didn't interrupt the second song) All in all, I think Alastor might have his own daddy issues
In my view Alastor is working an angle Lilith probably owns his soul and told him to help / protect Charlie. His only way out from under Lilith is to offer something that Lilith values more or empowers him enough to escape his deal and that would almost certainly be Charlies soul. What he can do to take control of the 2nd or 3rd most powerful being in hell soul is hard to say. But the longer Charlie has to rely on him as her most powerful supporter the better his chances of finding that opportunity where she is desperate enough to consider it. Like for instance a upcoming extermination of all the sinners by the angels.
- Lucifer Morning Star is voiced by Jeremy Jordan who played as Winn (Supergirl), Varian (Tangled the series), Clyde (Bonnie & Clyde the Musical), & many more - Mimzy is voiced by Sarah Stiles who also voices Spinel (Steven Universe), Kate & Lucy (Avenue Q), Dana (Superior Donuts), Bonnie (Billions), & many more
What I love about Alaster in this episode is that it shows how he can be confident even when there's a power gap. He's fucking around with Lucifer, Satan, the big boss. He knows just how strong he is, and instead of trying to scare him with his power and use that as leverage, he instead uses the relation with Charlie. He has more a connection with Charlie, All be it a very surface level and business only one, but it's just that slight edge over what Lucifer has with her, so he uses that to get that power over him. Alaster knows when he's weaker than someone, and he knows how to use ANY advantage he has.
My theory. Like Nuz says Lilith does own Al's soul. But she is the real reason why he is at the Hasbin and part of the contract is he can not tell anyone why he was missing. And the only way he can say where he went is if someone asked him. Yet through out the show everyone does not care or care to ask where he has been. I think that's why Mizzie being dismissed to leave was important to him. Because he is probably afraid what Lilith would do to him under contract.
I loved this episode so much. Song is a complete banger. This dynamic between Alastor and Lucifer is just sending me. HE PULLED OUT THE GOLDEN FIDDLE AND I FUCKING SCREAMED! Great ref, and with a punch of a pentagram, a wap bam boom, alakazam, the two of them are such a ham!
How come you’re literally the only reaction channel that doesn’t pause through and react to the songs. Literally ALL of them do it, you’re the ONLY exception.
Alastor telling Lucifer "Fuck You" was so damn good. N the father daughter song between Lucifer n Charlie was so beautiful. N the theory that Alastor is somehow a slave to Lillith is even more foreshadowed in this when Husk says hes on a leash as well n the timelines adding up how both were missing for 7 years.
I lost my shit at that I couldn't believe it and still chuckle. 1 he said it to his face and 2 it came from Alastor who was loosing his shit over Lucifer being there lol and then Lucifer pulls out the golden fiddle lol they have a dick measuring contest in the weirdest way I love it
I'm not gonna come out and say Hazbin and Helluva are flawless shows. I feel like the pacing is going way too fast. But the characters, the animation, the music, and the worldbuilding are INCREDIBLE!! If the show had had more episodes to flesh out their character arcs, the story would feel a lot more natural. You gotta give credit where it is due. And here we have people being black-and-white over the whole thing, saying that its all garbage, which is... you know... MISSING THE WHOLE POINT OF THE SHOW!!
Honestly, the only thing I would change about this season so far is to have more episodes between 4 and 5, so Alastor's claim of being a father figure could be more of a shown thing instead of us having to be told. But I blame Amazon for that, not the show writers.
There's definitely some relationship between Lilith and Alastor for Lucifer to be that aggressive towards someone he "hasn't met before." Also Lucifer mentioning he doesn't watch TV anymore (probably since Vox) suggests he's more aware than he pretends.
Viv and team DID mention that Mimzy’s reveal would indicate a critical turning point in the show, so I don’t hate her introduction coming right after Lucifer.
Here's one for you. Lucifer and Charlie dress like Ring masters. Lucifer's ringtone for Charlie is the Circus march. Rings of Hell, also rings of a Circus. Lords of sin represent more circus aspects like Mamon is the Clown...
23:02 Oh I think it might be a bit more extreme than that. I’m beginning to think that after Alastor kills them, he actually traps what’s left of their souls inside of the broadcast. Forever in their dying pain. Forever screaming.
I just want to point this out that even before the first minute of the episode Charlie is doing the whole conspiracy meme shtick like the other Charlie did in It's Always Sunny in Philadephia. That's attention to detail and I love it.
I was surprised that Alastor had the guts to say F word to Charlie father also the part of her losing it in the beginning really want to give her a hug. Me when I working at Texas Road at closing time sorta it depends.
Alastor seems to be contracted in a soul contract with Lilith as indicated by Husker mentioning that he may be leashed to someone as both had gone seven years making him so mad. It is a high possibility since Charlie called her mom and out of nowhere pops out Alastor to help.
Alaster's eye twitch when Lucifer shows up is a nice touch to show how he really doesnt like him - but the constantly getting under his skin makes it so much more hilarious for me
My theory is Alastor and Lilith eloped 7 years ago and now Alastor is back to help Charlie under Lilith’s demands. And due to Husk’s comment about Alastor being on a leash, he may be the only one who knows why Alastor was gone.

Damn now I'M depressed just thinking about it
Now I’m depressed. Thanks for the Depression
He may be the Devil, but after this, this version of Lucifer is what I want to be as a Dad. Minus the depression.
Alastor dropping an F bomb felt like the first actual swear word in the show despite the characters swearing constantly
The amount of people shitting on lucifer is sad. I see him as a terrible father, but not because he doesn't care. He cares immensely. He's just shit at the job
He does technically have to deal with politics between the higher ranking members of Hell. I imagine that takes a decent amount of his time.

@@jeremytung1632 I believe it was confirmed somewhere BEE is the animal show part of the circus, seeing as shes the one flying through hoops n such

14:36 the radio demon’s dynamic with Lucifer throughout this whole episode, is basically the equivalent of:
“Your daughter calls me Daddy too.”
I can see why Lucy would be mad about that.
Hahaha hahaha 🤣😂 thats funny ASF
stepdad...
FINALLY SOMEONE ACKNOLEDGED THAT ALASTOR WAS GONE FOR 7 YEARS AND THAT LILITH ALSO DISAPPEARED 7 YEARS AGO
My theory is that Lilith and Alastor made a deal where Alastor's side of the deal was to help Charlie with her hotel plan, or if not that then Alastor was supposed to look after Charlie and help her with whatever she was doing and Lilith side was something more sinister where she needed to disappear for a long while.

I believe you are correct about Lilith and Alastor. If he sold his soul to her for power before he died, it might explain why he was so overpowered when he got to hell

1. Lucifer being an anxious, depressed mess that acts overly friendly to compensate for how awkward he is is a *mood*
2. Friendly reminder that Alastor doesn't really swear, so the fact that Lucifer got that far under his skin says a lot.
Also, there's no way that Alastor also being on a leash isnt very much literal and that it doesn't have something to do with Lilith.
Right, its no coincidence that they both vanished 7 years ago
@@bocholotthethird3159 dude I thought that immediately. looking back at the pilot he literally showed up right after she called her mom. yes I know he saw the news broadcast but he also waited until after she called her mom before making himself known, who knows how long he was waiting nearby. they did have to go pick up Angel Dust after all, and drive back to the hotel way out on the outskirts of town.
@silvermoon9186 i made a joke in another thread that he's being oegged by Lilith but ong i do think she's sent him to keep an eye on Charlie

Lucifer's "Take that Depression!" Line hit so hard xD
Lucifer's design is based on a Ringleader of a circus. That's why his ringtone has clown music. All the Deadly Sins are based on some aspect of a circus performer. Beelzebub is a trapeze performer, Mammon is a clown, and I think Ozzy is a animal tamer, but not sure and until we see the others I don't know what the others are based on.
Satan is the strong man.
I thought Ozzie was something of a flame dance performer. Cause, you know, blue flames and all that.
The 7 rings of hell is a circus 🎪😅
Thats funny and oddly accurate
I think Beelzebub is actually like a lion tamer or general animal-focused acts.
I fully believe this man made a theme park based on himself (Lu Lu World).
I once heard someone say that the snake on his hat looks like a worm and silly, but now I feel like it was intentional. He is such a goober and having a theme park is totally on brand.

Well Mimsy may be new to the new audience, but people following Vivzie for years know her very well. In fact, she was originally supposed to be part of the main cast in the pilot, but was put aside last minute or something. We all knew she was coming, and Vivzie did say that her arrival would mark something of a turning point in the season……based on what comes next, I must say she was spot on.
It did feel the whole vibe shifted when mimzy came on screen, i was feeling whiplashed but I know the show will revisit this somehow 🤔
Bro loves reminding everyone about a certain $50,000 animation and it cracks me up every time 😂
It's so funny that the 50k is a thing in this episode so can't exactly not think about it😂
Honestly I think that Alastor DOES care, but can't let that be known because to get the job done he needs everybody to fear him. He may not have given a shit in the beginning but in doing everything for Charlie and watching the hotel grow I think he's starting to actually care. Him showing it would kill his mystery with the other characters which would be counter productive to his goals.
True, I thought the same, I mean, he even calls Charlie and the others in the hotel his "family".
It might be why he was irritated the moment Luci walked in, because Charlie's dad has been absent which gives the impression he doesn't care and isn't supportive, he's just here to do something because his daughter asked him for something, so that's why Alastor interrupts the song, he's showing Charlie that if she needs support that he will support her (keep in mind he wasn't present for the phone call so he wasn't aware Charlie just wanted her dad to set up a meeting in heaven until after he dealt with Mimze, and that's also probably why he didn't interrupt the second song)
All in all, I think Alastor might have his own daddy issues
In my view Alastor is working an angle Lilith probably owns his soul and told him to help / protect Charlie. His only way out from under Lilith is to offer something that Lilith values more or empowers him enough to escape his deal and that would almost certainly be Charlies soul.
What he can do to take control of the 2nd or 3rd most powerful being in hell soul is hard to say. But the longer Charlie has to rely on him as her most powerful supporter the better his chances of finding that opportunity where she is desperate enough to consider it. Like for instance a upcoming extermination of all the sinners by the angels.
- Lucifer Morning Star is voiced by Jeremy Jordan who played as Winn (Supergirl), Varian (Tangled the series), Clyde (Bonnie & Clyde the Musical), & many more
- Mimzy is voiced by Sarah Stiles who also voices Spinel (Steven Universe), Kate & Lucy (Avenue Q), Dana (Superior Donuts), Bonnie (Billions), & many more
This just proves we need more broadway stars to make the move to voice acting.
BRUH I WAS WONDERING WHY MIMZY SOUNDED FAMILIAR THANK YOU
What I love about Alaster in this episode is that it shows how he can be confident even when there's a power gap.

I KNOW that the episodes were made way before they actually premiered but that's one hell of a coincidence
There's definitely some relationship between Lilith and Alastor for Lucifer to be that aggressive towards someone he "hasn't met before."
Also Lucifer mentioning he doesn't watch TV anymore (probably since Vox) suggests he's more aware than he pretends.
Viv and team DID mention that Mimzy’s reveal would indicate a critical turning point in the show, so I don’t hate her introduction coming right after Lucifer.

Alastor seems to be contracted in a soul contract with Lilith as indicated by Husker mentioning that he may be leashed to someone as both had gone seven years making him so mad. It is a high possibility since Charlie called her mom and out of nowhere pops out Alastor to help.
I'm thinking the same, it's can't be a coincidence.
