Great song. Knowing the back story about why they wrote it is pretty good too. Makes the song better kind of like knowing the back story to Nightwish "The Poet and the Pendulum" makes that song so much better. The stories amplify the emotion.

There has been a few times Skin and Sevendust played this song live. Now if they perform it, they have someone else sing along with. I know someone from Australia had the pleasure to sing this song live for NYE a couple years ago for Sevendust's 20 year anniversary of the album performing the whole album in it's entirely. There's a band called Madame Mayhem who toured together 2 years ago. The singer of the Madame Mayhem would come up and sing this song. She pulled it off pretty well. This song was released in Europe for one their singles. This music video wasn't aired in the USA. It was aired overseas. People in the USA finally got to see this music video on one their DVDs called Retrospect. This part I heard them talk about..They black goo is supposed to be red for blood but I guess over in Europe mainly Germany didn't want that so it's black. Don't quote me on that. It's been years but I do remember them explaining the reasons why the "goo" is black. I can't remember if it was filmed in Germany or not either. Skin is from over there. They call her Skin. She comes from a band called Skunk Anansie. Best known album for her band was called Post Orgasmic Chill. She actually did some performances with the late Luciano Pavarotti. They were popular back around the turn of the century, just like Sevendust.

I've been listening to Sevendust since the 90's and they are a great and under appreciated band. If you'd like to continue your metal/hard rock journey might I suggest Unleash the Archers; a Canadian power metal band. Anything from their album Apex is amazing "Awakening", "Matriarch", "General of the Dark Army". The lead singer Brittney Slayes has an AMAZING set of pipes on her and the band is just as epic. You won't be let down my dude.

The following year I could never remember which name pertained to the drug or the band ( Don't do heavy drugs kids...) To this day Sevendust remains one of my favorite bands and the song Karma particularly.

A ridiculous vocalist Skin is, she has a great voice, her and LJ sound great together. Another great collab she did was she got asked by the riff/guitar god Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath, to be on his solo album called ‘Iommi’, he had all legendary rock/metal vocalists sing on it, plus also playing on some tracks. The song is called ‘Meat’ and it’s an amazing song, regarding her being a black female artist in life and the rock/metal world in particular. I really think you’d love it, it’s heavy, groovy and badass, def check it out 🤘🤘 much love man, keep jammin
"What is that goo?" In an interview with lead singer Lajon Witherspoon, that goo was actually supposed to be blood. However MTV requested it be changed before it was released in the States for "sensitivity" reasons. That's why it ended up being black goo.
Maybe one day we will see some Mastodon or 4Arm or Prong or Edan or Corrosion of Conformity or Decapitated or Austrian Death Machine or Motorhead to name only a few bands that seem to be missed by people as suggestions. Missing tons of great music.

A ridiculous vocalist Skin is, she has a great voice, her and LJ sound great together. Another great collab she did was she got asked by the riff/guitar god Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath, to be on his solo album called ‘Iommi’, he had all legendary rock/metal vocalists sing on it, plus also playing on some tracks. The song is called ‘Meat’ and it’s an amazing song, regarding her being a black female artist in life and the rock/metal world in particular. I really think you’d love it, it’s heavy, groovy and badass, def check it out 🤘🤘 much love man, keep jammin
"What is that goo?"
In an interview with lead singer Lajon Witherspoon, that goo was actually supposed to be blood. However MTV requested it be changed before it was released in the States for "sensitivity" reasons. That's why it ended up being black goo.
