Honestly, I think the most beautiful part of this movie is the fact that Maquia never tells Ariel that she loves him, but instead shows it over time through her actions- this shows that words can speak through actions.
@@aprellerose I almost cried literally like this movie really touched me and the message is so powerful. And it also taught me that I got to care and love the ones in my family even friends. She's one of the best series compositor in the industry. Why do people call Mokoto Shinkai the "successor of Hayao Miyazaki"? In no way are their movies similar other than the fact that they're both Japanese animation.
I suppose it's cause aside from Shinkai's recent movie. No other movie had come close to Miyazaki's spirited away in terms of sheer box office success in Japan. (Japan doesn't really care about outside Japan) Look it up, the numbers are insane. So i guess it's compared in terms of reach and audience.
Lolicon and shinkai movies ain't? The movie is shit compared to the greatest series of anime, it's only a huge success because anime is more mainstream and massive marketing.
It's better than any of Shinkai's "Teenagers who just met each other cry beautifully with over the top melodrama". The conflict here is real with genuine characters that work well off each other. Dramatic moments are timed well and are earned.
raigawa ichiharu I’ve seen it already and the artstyle and OSTs are amazing. But I didn’t cry- I wasn’t so deeply touched but for maquia it really did.

I'm even more jealous and mad knowing Your Name is more popular than this masterpiece Maquia. And I'm even more madder that Maquia missed a bunch of anime award and even not nominated (If there's any award that nominate Maquia that I don't know, please let me know)
This film will definitely make one cry, from all kinds of feelings. Truly, it is a masterpiece. I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next in anything she works on. She is definitely, along with Hasoda, Shinkai’s biggest rival. My only regret is that I wasn’t able to first see Maquia when it first came out in cinemas, to ‘truly feel’ that group experience with the rest of the audience.
Kiznaiver and Mayoiga (the two I see most complained about in the comments) are not the only two original series she's worked on. This video already names one. Nagi no Asukara is another. Anohana is another. She has it in her. I think she should be at least be given a chance without serious doubt. Kiznaiver and Mayoiga are her most recent, but I don't believe that that means that will be her standard for writing from now on, and all of her original works from here on out will fall along that standard. Things change. She's human.

youll probably be disappointed It's not a true sequel to CG:2 as they've changed the ending sequences (using the recently released movie as the plot as opposed to what happened in s2..... Lelouche is alive and still with Suzaku and shirley wasn't killed They basically botched it because they realised that changing the open ending to s2 would basically take away the unbelievable ending/ suspense so they thought they'd keep it and just change the direction of the ending to suit a follow on story
I love Shinkai's works for graphics in The Garden of Words and 5cm per second, that is the sickest I've ever seen, just pleasure for eyes. The story is OK, not really hyped by sad stuff.
Thanks for this video I stumbled on it and you know it made my day. It was beautiful soothing I don't have words to say and I cried a lot. Its a masterpiece. A great anime added to my collection. Maquia: When The Promised Flower Blooms. Thanks for making it.

Kimi no nawa did make me tear a little, but maquia is just...idk it touched my soul, my heart, everything. Its so wholesome, heartwarming yet so sad, its so sad. I felt empty after watching this movie and it also made me think about my life and my mother. Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans is so underrated. Its the anime that got me into the Gundam franchise. I like how their actions have real impact around their world and how the characters (the ones that didn't die XD) grow along with it.
First thing when I first heard the name of the director was ok when I heard she directed Tekketsu no orphans I was like wait what... that manly anime with death count of over half the cast is directed by a girl okay I am speechless lol
that why i liked it. Anime protagonist always do what they want and get away with it, because of justice and being the good guy justifies killing hundreds of people and everyone is just like "but his the good guy so its ok.
for me their ending episode leaves bad after taste and the antagonist plot armor is super thick... nevertheless IBO do make their own name in gundam history... for me IBO first season is good all around, while the second season kind of an abomination that should not exist in gundam universe...
This movie has been in my PTW for some time now. I didn't even read the synopsis or anything, I just saw it was being made by PA Works and Mari Okada, and added it. Really excited to watch it now.
The movie was and is absolutely stunning and amazing. The environmental design will just leave you in awe, story is very touching especially if you are a mother yourself but if you are not that will not save you from the feels that this movie gives. I have no regrets watching this film and it has instantly become one of my favourite anime films of all time, probably because I feel a lot of relation to what the moral gives, not as a mother but as an every day feeling of thought and belief. I highly suggest this movie to anyone who is interested or is looking for something to get into if you have not already seen it yourself. Imo it isn't just a film made to tearjerk you, but a film that actually can hold a lot of significant meaning no matter who you are.
Didn't Mari Okada write Anthem of the Heart? I watched that and remember a name similar to that writing it, I also remember what she did to the main two characters which a lot of people disliked but I though it made sense the second I gave it a second watch. I agree, Kimi no nawa is a decent movie with stunning animation, but not that much of a masterpiece in term of story. I really love Millennium Actress and Tokyo Godfather, so it'd be nice to see something more realistic for a change of pace.

Hatsuharu Akimoto How, that's a new one. Hayao Miyazaki, a.k.a. The God of Anime, is an Anime director known for his works directing Spirited Away (which is also the only Japanese animation to ever win an Oscar), Princess Mononoke, My Neighbor Totoro, Howl's Moving Castle, Castle in the sky, etc.. He was also one of the founders of Ghibli Studio, and the one that made it shine.
I literally honest to god was bored of the usual and randomly chose this out of a line up. I cried for this one. 😞 i just watched this last week. And it was so sad.
Yes its been recognized
Found it on mal and i am both british and have had my B day this same month on the 9th 15 days before it's due! Awsome! PA works as the studio behind Angel beats I have high expectations so bring it on! (EDIT! Still doubt that it will beat Evengalions popularity though)
I cried at the 30 min mark and couldn't stop even after the end of it

Hatsuharu Akimoto
How, that's a new one.

When we seen anime films. We see the world through his eyes as he envisions them.
She writteniron blooded orphans my favorite anime girl slay
I'm hype to watch it . I don't think I can handle another Biscuit type of ending as depression might start to kick in .
the irony, today they announcement a new Makoto shinkai movie (Weathering with You)
I literally honest to god was bored of the usual and randomly chose this out of a line up. Little did I know what I was in for as by the end my face fell into the palm of my hand taking the final moments of this film in. It was beautiful and one I will never forget. I’m not an emotional person, but the conclusion of this story hit me hard. 😢
I can't wait for his next movie.
5 centimeters per second always in my heart😌
Shinkai approved, writer of IBO, and new talent? I'm sold!
A healthy competition. Hope they keep producing more masterpieces.
