      @@szeddezs The possibility was definitely there, but Jimmy was on the right path. He was supporting Chuck, working hard, trying to better himself.
      Sure, Jimmy sometimes slipped back, but whenever he messed up, he always aimed to make things right.
      Chuck’s concerns were valid, but his motivation/reasoning was wrong. Jimmy literally helped Chuck get back on his feet, and Chuck stabbed him in the back…again.
      Sure, Jimmy needed to be warned not to go back to his Slipping Jimmy ways, but if Chuck had Jimmy’s back, Jimmy probably would’ve ended up fine.

      Self fulfilling prophecy. If Chuck supported/encouraged him and kept him close, Jimmy would have most likely done way better.

    • @element4element4
      @element4element4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Skullzrapper But Jimmy got many chances during the show. Every single time, he resorted to using scams, manipulations and breaking the law to achieve what he needed. He was always incapable of following the rules, he did not want to work within the constraints a lawyer must work within. He did not fit in, like his cup did not fit into his company car.
      He even left a great job, because they did not allow him use illegal means to get clients.
      Chuck knew Jimmy much better than we do as an audience at this point of the show. Note that I did not think like this the first few times I saw the show. The show makes Jimmy's schemes and scams very funny that we see it as innocent and acceptable. But having thought through the show more seriously after many watches, I begin to understand Chuck.

    One of the saddest lines in the show, the betrayal. To find out someone you look up to is against you all along. Amazing acting by Bob Odenkirk, you can see and feel all the emotions it's like he's on the verge of crying.
    Jimmy tried, he really did try, if Chuck only give him the chance he wouldn't go down the dark path. Your reaction when you found it out it was Chuck all along is so satisfying. What a great twist.

    • @katlikethatprodz
      @katlikethatprodz 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Jimmy going down a dark path wasn't really on Chuck. Like yes his betrayal and dismissive nature towards Jimmy didn't help but ultimately Jimmy's decision are all on himself. There were many people in his life trying to give him a chance and he did screw it up all on his own.

    No matter what institution Jimmy got his degree from, he still had to pass the same Bar that Chuck and Howard passed. Also, Chuck knows damn well that Jimmy didn't take any shortcuts - he earned his degree part-time WHILE working in the HHM mailroom. Chuck's resistance either isn't based on what he's claiming here today or he's just not thinking logically, which would be very out of character for him but we know how maddening Jimmy can be.

    "The law is sacred!" You know that Chuck really does believe that. He is so by-the-book, letter-of-the-law type of guy. He knows his brother though, he knows Slippin' Jimmy, what he says about Jimmy taking shortcuts is somewhat true, but its not that Jimmy wanted to take shortcuts. Its not like he could probably afford an expensive law school degree. But yeah to basically deceive Jimmy all this time, making Howard the bad guy, just because Chuck didn't believe in Jimmy's authenticity... that is so damn hurtful. I kinda feel bad for Howard as well, not only did he have to be the bad guy to Jimmy, but also to Kim as well. But all this, especially coming from your brother. A brother that Jimmy has helped in all this time, even though you know Jimmy is aware that the "affliction" that Chuck has is all mental, its not a real thing, but he helps him anyway because Chuck is his brother.
    The characters and the writing in this show is top notch, for real! I can't wait till you see where it goes from here!

    Considering how Saul turns out in breaking bad, is Chuck entirely wrong? But on the other end, maybe if Chuck embraced Jimmy more, he wouldn't have taken that route. It's a very intelligent direction for Saul's backstory considering that we as an audience already know Saul's outcome in future events.

      Ehh after seeing the finale and start of season 2 I think what happened with Chuck had a MAJOR effect on the route Jimmy went

    If you go back and watch the conference room scene, right before Howard leaves, he gives Chuck a look, as if to say, “you did this.”

    Chuck dislikes how Jimmy always takes shortcuts, bends and disrespects the law. For Chuck the law is a sacred thing. First time I watched this, I always thought if Jimmy had gotten this and that chance, things would've turned out differently. But having watched the show, Jimmy gets lots of chances and every single time he choses illegal shortcuts and uses scams even when he wants to achieve good things and help people. He is not capable of working within the framework he is allowed to work in, he does not fit in there. Like the cup does not fit in his company car (as you've reached to, not a spoiler).
    If you really think about it, with hindsight of having seen the show, Chuck is right in many things. He knows Jimmy much better than we do as an audience at this point of the show.

    I've never felt a betrayal the way this show made it feel, just the way the show makes you hate Howard and then it turns out it was your own brother and you've hated the wrong person the whole time

    Hey Primate, i’m not sure if you’ve watched black mirror in your own time, or if you accept youtube comment suggestions, but I would recommend it 10000%. Outside of Star Wars, it may be my favourite tv series

    Watching peoples’ reactions to these last two episodes in particular, it’s actually kind of sad, seeing how enthusiastic & eager they always are for what they believe this series is about to become: the McGill brothers, helping each other battle their personal demons, Chuck guiding Jimmy on how to stay on the straight & narrow and not give into his “Slippin’ Jimmy” shortcuts (too much) and Jimmy helping Chuck deal with his mental health issues, both of them supporting each other as they battle heavy odds to bring Justice to deserving clients, only to be smacked with the realization that no, this is not the story of how Jimmy became his best possible self, it’s the story of how he became Saul Goodman.

    In hindsight it's crazy how much you were willing to give Chuck the benefit of the doubt. There were signs all along. But that's a sign of a good writer. He fooled most of us on the first time through...

    Wow, you witnessing that last scene!!... Not many characters infuriate me enough to hurl a "f*ck you" at the screen. Idk how many times I've cursed Chuck like that. With my jaw clenched. What a superior, self-righteous, judgemental, traitorous pos. (And I also see envy in him. Weird as that may sound.)
    Dude I love everything you said about that in your intro!! Fr. You're entire assessment. 👍 👍

    You should really start doing 2 episodes per reaction or this reaction series is literally going to take a year to be completed, if weekly.
