What is the BEST Silver Bullion to Buy?

  • As silver drops in price I've been getting more and more questions about what the best type of silver bullion someone should buy. If you're buying silver for the first time or are new to bullion this video will discuss the different types of coins or bars that one would find in any coin shop or online dealer site.
    Buy Bullion from Modern Coin Mart - festyy.com/q3G9fq
    Buy Bullion from Apmex - festyy.com/q3G9vU
    Buy Bullion from JM Bullion - festyy.com/q3G9Q3
    Buy Silver & Gold Direct from Amazon - amzn.to/1VMsTPm
    - Junk Silver
    - Private Minted Coins or Bars
    - Government Issued Coins
    - Fractional Silver
    - Silver Bars
    All of these are great options but the question you need to ask yourself is "What is the reason you are looking to buy silver?"

    I just like getting it all out and play with it, stacking up coin and bar silver like a 19th century miser and going silver, stacks and stacks of shiny beautiful silver and it's mine, mine I say mine.

    This is very helpful in showing the difference in sizes of bars. I would say you can get a good deal on silver buying just the basic none numismatic bars/rounds/junk silver. Anyone new who knows nothing about silver would buy them for your asking price vs. trying to explain why a zombuck is worth more than the spot. Great video. very helpful to new and experienced silver stackers!

    Good stuff. I think its wise to get the most bang for your buck with 10oz generic bars. Second I think its a smart move to go with the eagles, maples, and all world bullion, I feel like there will always be buyers that will pay a hefty premium when it comes time to sell down the road. I started strictly with generics but have been leaning toward bullion that holds a good premium to diversify my portfolio instead of have all generics

    Always gotta keep selling in mind when buying. If a person has a bunch of different stuff at sell day, it will likely cause a lot of frustration to the seller. I suggest a new "stacker" stick to 1 or 2 different coins (ie, Eagles, Maples, Phils etc..) when putting together a stack over time. Much easier to sell all of the same coins vs a bunch of different stuff. (This comment is geared toward bullion only) As you know, numismatics is a different animal. Subbed your channel. Thanks

    - In a SHTF situation you would be better to have small dimes so you can pay for small things without having to break down a bar or coin. Also you can have multiple caches to hide it so you wont be left with nothing if stolen.
    - If you're preserving your wealth, buy large bars at best price possible ( i mean kilos if you're able ).
    - If you're investing go with the large 10oz bars or minted coins near spot price. So you can sell em easy when you want.
    - If you just like piling lots and lots of shiny things and can't stop counting em, go for 1oz bars/coins/rounds at best price possible so you get quantity over beauty or weight.
    - If you are a collector you want to buy mint so you are going to have plus value on the quality of your coins at collector ou coin shops. Also your minted coin already has a system to find its preservation state and a price attached to it. Rounds and bars don't really sell in collector point of view.
    - If you just like the beauty of silver, go on and ruin yourself on anything you want. 2oz 5oz 10oz coins are for you, they are beautiful but expensive.
    ONE THING TO REMEMBER : When you try to sell it back, most buyers will have more trust in minted coins than bars/rounds and you're going to get more $$$ for the same ammount of silver. Also minted coin may be worth alot based on its rarity, demand, preservation... but it's a pain in the azz to evaluate em and sell em one by one and sadly you got to become honnest and good at it if you don't want to get ripped off or called a thief yourself.
    THATS IT HAVE FUN !

I am looking for easy buying/selling and an easy calculated buy/sell dollar amount. I don't care to learn about the rarity or special edition coins etc.

    Silver is a commodity sold on the COMEX and spot is for future delivery at a set date in large lots known at GOOD DELIVERY BARS. The spot price is not set for "rounds" or "bars" (except for the good delivery bar - hundreds of ounces each!). Premium includes the mints profit over all costs). Best bars and rounds to buy are those with low premium and security features (such as Sunshine Mint). Best coins are U.S. 90% silver coins, as far as I am concerned!

    I'm really hating RCM stuff lately with all the milk spotting issues. I don't even think I knew what milk spots were until last year, never had anything with milk spots in the early 2000's. I never understood why ppl buy ms69 or lower for newer coins, especially bullion & proof numi, semi numi, etc but I guess that's a good strategy with a RCM coin that has a 50/50 chance of spotting. It will always retain it's silver value I'd hate to pay the additional $$ for a ms70 only to have it spot up and lose it's collector's value.

    • @MunkeySpaz
      @MunkeySpaz  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Pat Hamer it all depends on what type of silver and gold you're buying. Is it just BU? Are these premium bars and coins? Perhaps they have a limited mintage? There's so much that comes into play. But if it's just generic bullion, I'd aim for no more than a dollar over spot

    • @thedoverking7937
      @thedoverking7937 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bigger bars are usually better for long term investments such as your 1KG bars. If you just want to quickly buy and sell smaller bars such as 100g ones are probably better. Also if your buying bigger bars you'll want to invest in Safes ect for peace of mind if the worst happens.

    I heard all the new minted coins such as Eagles and Maple Leafs are MS69 or MS70. Also, they will never be rare since they are all top quality and uncirculated. Buy your own frames and frame 3 of them for the price of 1. No reason to grade a coin unless it has been circulated or is older and rare, etc.

  • @drgwhatsthetruth3783

    I don't buy graded silver. I buy whatever bullion that is closest to spot. It's like my savings account...like now, I'm buying paper and bullion because silver is reasonably low right now. It's just a matter of time until it hits $25 + a troy oz.

    say sometime in the future we return to a gold/silver system, I assume it is a good idea to half somewhat of your total in smaller coins bars to trade with? rather than having large bars?

      ***** That's a good assumption. I personally think it's a good Idea to have equal amounts of everything. 90% silver will be great if the gold standard is brought back. In my opinion I don't think we'll see a gold standard again. But I do think it's possible to go back to a barter system or even see more and more businesses start to accept gold/silver as payment. To have quarter ounce bars/coins of silver and gold I think would be a good idea also. :)

      +D Smith I am saving my silver more like a retirement account. I will sell if I need to in the meantime but the end game is to cash out the day I retire from working.

    I have a few 100 oz silver bars and the rest is in 90% silver coinage.

    • @MunkeySpaz
      @MunkeySpaz  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The problem with owning such large sized bars is it's much harder to sell in a pinch and also you're limiting your buying audience. At least with smaller sizes you can still sell 100oz at a time if needed. But also you could barter for things easier with smaller.
      There's nothing wrong with 100oz sizes at all, just not something I personally can put back.

    anymore I see some of the highest premiums on "junk silver"

    you spoke about junk bins in store. how do you know if its silver or something that looks like ?

    • @MunkeySpaz
      @MunkeySpaz  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well most coin stores won't be selling 'fake' silver. Typically if you ask them "Do you have a loose silver bin?" they will point you to a small box with random tarnished silver in it. You might get lucky and have a coin guy who doesn't know the value of a particular coin and throw it in there. I once pulled out a 2002 Year Of The Horse silver coin from the 'junk' bin.

    what is the difference between a walking liberty going for $9.45 and the ones going for a lot more ?

    • @MunkeySpaz
      @MunkeySpaz  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The ones going for a lot more could be graded coins which will bring in more money. Also, look closely it might not be a walking liberty 90%, it could be a solid silver coin.

    if you have 999 silver junk or even sterling. is it still worth money if it is melted and hand pored into a bar?

    • @MunkeySpaz
      @MunkeySpaz  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      there's not really .999 in junk silver. It has silver in it but usually like 90% silver.

    • @nickcyeah
      @nickcyeah 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 90% Silver within the coin is pure silver. The other 10% of the coin is copper, which is added so that the coin can sustain the abuse of circulation. So basically junk silver is 90% pure silver 10% pure copper.

    • @nickcyeah
      @nickcyeah 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes sterling is worth money if you melt it into a bar or not. Sterling is 92.5% Silver.
