He's the stand-in for Leon's mocap when it came to dangerous stunt, Nick wanted to do those but Capcom didn't want him to do it as Reuben is better in doing stunts works.
I love how Ruben gradually shifted dantes voice as he matured and when it comes to spin offs or fighting games he keeps it at a in between of young and mature. That's how you know someone is serious about their character
Also voice actors get older aswell which means the voice will change. Thats why it is always a good idea to keep the same actor for the same character over a decade. DMC 1 and 2 Dante sounded ways off given the timeline of the games. In 1 and 2 Dante sounds older then the oldest Dante in DMC5 which is.....weird.
@@jedi1157 Yeah but sadly they did a mistake here. In DMC4 Vergil looks and sounds older then in DMC3 which cant be possible because Vergil visited Fortuna before the events of DMC3. But i guess that stuff happens when you release a series with a timeline in any fucking order you want.

I'm an idiot. All these years and I totally thought DMC 3 Dante had a different voice actor from DMC 4 but no, Reuben Langdon just has that great of range. Well... that and a years long gap between 3, 4, and 5.
Yeah, some time after DMC3 his voice actually changed. He commented on it saying that it was weird his voice changed in his late 20s, and at that point he also started to be able to grow facial hair. Odd lol
I really like Drew coombs, since he voiced the original version, but Ruben has voiced Dante for so long he's become the go-to va. Matt is underrated and did a good somber version of him

Love Rub's too though and is very iconic and fits the brighter, anime-esque Dante. 5, his take was mature and loved his realism, especially for the DMC shop scenes. Dante there was naturally cool and mysterious!
I absolutely love how Rueben changed his voice over the course of the games to AUDIBLY show that he's aging. In 3 he sounded very young, in 4 he sounded pretty mid range, and now in 5 he actually sounds fully mature.
In my opinion, Tim Phillipps did a good job portraying the Dante that they were going for in DmC. However, Reuben Langdon is the definitive Dante voice and is clearly the best one
Drew honestly sounds perfect for Dante's darker times like in DMC 1, and would have honestly been much better of a voice for 2 and the Anime. Reuben is still the definitive voice for him though, he just does the cocky attitude of Dante far better.

Yep, Devil May Cry: The Animated Series is the very first anime I prefer to watch in english dub more than the original japanese thanks to Reuben Langdon and his awesome acting in DMC3.
Cool thing is that Reuben also knows martial arts. He was in a street fighter X tekken video he played ken and the voice actor for Virgil played Ryu. Lol

DMC4:SE was the very first mainline DMC game to feature Japanese voice acting. From 1-4 they all had an English cast. Even most Japanese dudes like the English cast better. It sort of like bloodborne in that regard.
i'm more expecting a DMC 3 remake with the RE engine, i mean, it has pretty much the same VA already, and the dialogue wasn't very bad or cheesy compared to DMC 1

Reuben Langdon is Dante, just like how Nolan North is Nathan Drake, Mark Hamill is the Joker and Kevin Conroy is Batman. Some voice actors simply were born to portray a certain role.
Reuben Langdon they guy that mocaped, did all the stunts and voice work for Dante, Date Masamune, Chris Redfield(mocap only) and Ken Masters. Nothing can replace this person.
Note though Date Masamune is not jacked in the 4th installment of Basara. It's a design choice to make him look older than Nero yet retain that handsome features. DMC5 though is a different direction they wanna show the human side of Dante as he ages.

My favorite thing is how clearly Dante's aging is with Langdon. Really shows how the character grows over time without losing his identity along the way.

I do miss a bit of DMC1 Dante. As much as I hate playing Kamiya games (outside of DMC1 and Viewtiful Joe) There was a certain style to DMC1 Dante's writing that just isn't there anymore. I can't place exactly what it was.
Reuben may be the only one who's fitting to fill Dante's shoes, but he can never beat Comb's "I should've been the one to fill your dark soul with light" line
I honestly really like Reuben, and Drew. 1. Reuben Langdon 2. Drew Coombs I feel like Drew would've gotten better with more practice, but after hearing Reuben grow into Dante, I love him much more. There's no denying that he IS Dante.

Poor Matt, he got sucked into that atrocity of a game. Its not even his fault that the game was trash, I always feel bad for voice actors in shitty games when they did all they could. They always get shit for stuff they had no control over. Its like when people were flaming the fuck out of Laura Bailey when TLOU2 came out all because she voiced Abby. She did her job correctly but it didn't matter because some people can't separate the voice actor's performance and the director's choices.

Reuben also did motion capture for dmc 3 too. He even colored his hair white for that. He is dante.
When I saw that commercial on TV, I thought it was just an awesome CGI. Later I learnt that it was after all, Dante himself.
He also did the mocap for Dante in DMC4 and 5.

Drew Coombs for me was the best, besides his voice crack he did a solid job. However Reuben Langdon is a perfect replacement, no complaints there.

He's most definitely has objectively improved his skill as years went by, but DMC3 Dante's younger voice is still my favorite/preference. Might be nostalgia but idk.

I do miss a bit of DMC1 Dante. As much as I hate playing Kamiya games (outside of DMC1 and Viewtiful Joe) There was a certain style to DMC1 Dante's writing that just isn't there anymore. I can't place exactly what it was.

Poor Matt, he got sucked into that atrocity of a game. Its not even his fault that the game was trash, I always feel bad for voice actors in shitty games when they did all they could. They always get shit for stuff they had no control over. Its like when people were flaming the fuck out of Laura Bailey when TLOU2 came out all because she voiced Abby. She did her job correctly but it didn't matter because some people can't separate the voice actor's performance and the director's choices.

i'll be honest, i really like dmc1 drew dante voice. feels like dmc3 reuben dante is trying to sounds like a younger dmc1 dante and he nails it perfectly to the point he become the staple dante voice. reuben is on a league of his own but kudos to drew coombs. matt sounds too cynical and DmC doesnt exist in my head, but i have something to say about tim, he sounds so generic
