I would love to see a comparison between the Seestar S50/S30 and Dwarf III. I currently have an S50, but I’m considering also buying a Dwarf III as a companion to it. It’s amazing what these smart telescopes can do!
When I was a kid I used to have a 2.5inch refractor which was pretty rubbish but I absolutely loved going outside and looking at the sky, now I'm grown up and with kids myself I'm looking at purchasing my first proper telescope and with a budget of around £500 I'm thinking a 10inch Dob seems the best option.
Hello Scott, I am a big fan of your astrophotographic work. Despite never having owned a telescope due to financial constraints, I recently discovered the Space Engine and have been thoroughly impressed. I would be honored if you would consider creating a video showcasing your thoughts and experiences.
I wonder which one you would lean towards between the Askar 71F and the sqa55. I have seen other TH-camrs rave about it, but not sure how it compares to the 71F
For similar money to the SQA85, there is also the new RedCat 91, which has pinpoint stars across the full frame field and nearly zero vignette. I bought one and am very happy with it. Currently, there is a lack of reviews (I’ve only seen one) on TH-cam.
I have a question for you...? If money were no object, what's the best telescope that anyone can buy that literally comes with everything...? Minus the laptop, obviously. THE BEST PERIOD NO BUDGET ?
Hey Damon, I am planning on assembling my own EAA setup over time. I plan to use a ZWO ASI2600MC-Air as my camera along side an AM5N mount. I want to have two scopes, one for further / smaller objects / planetary, and one for closer / larger objects, like Andromeda. That much I have pretty much decided. The two scopes however, I have a few different ideas. For my "small" scope I am looking at the ZWO FF65 and the William Optics Spacecat 51 (Gen III) For the larger scope, I think I am set on the ZWO FF130, but am still looking around. You might notice these are all Petzval refractors, and that's because I don't want to have to deal with needing a flattener or calculating back focus. If you had to choose between the FF65 and the Spacecat 51, which one would you rather have? Thanks! Great video as always :)
Its simple, the best telescope is the one you are most likely going to use, which for most beginners is going to be something like a SeeStar S50 (or30) or a Dwarf Lab III. I would never advise anyone to start off in astronomy with a large scope unless it was a dob, its not the scope its the mount that you are also going to need. Mounts like the EQ6-R Pro are heavy and while SWG mounts like the ZWO AM5 are much lighter they are usually a lot more expensive ( the Juwei 17 being a notable exception ) Small refractors can often be used on cheap star tracker mounts or the more advanced, but still relatively cheap models like the Star Adventurer GTi. My most used set up is a Red Cat 51 with a Star Adventurer GTi, this is very portable and I have it set up redy to use. If I get an unexpected clear spell, I can be outside and imaging within minutes. I control it with an ASIair Plus which gives it the same simplicity as the SeeStar range
I’m looking at the Skywatcher Dobson telescope N 150/750 Heritage FlexTube, it would be my first telescope and works as it’s somewhat portable and convenient. Anyone used this one before or recommend anything similar, I’m from London so light pollution quite is quite bad.
RASA was too expensive for me so I got myself Sharpstar 61EDPHiii (Version 3 has got two ED elements instead of one in version 2) with 1x flattener. Best decission I could have done. Its stars are pinpoint sharp and the telescope feels very well made. I am currently rediscovering universe with this wide field little beast with sharp round stars even in the of axis guider and ASI2600 installed. So much more enjoyment compared to my bigger Edge 8HD. You really should review this little beast.😊
For me, it's got to be a Seestar. It's just which one to go for that I'm having issues with. I think I'll end up paying just the little extra money and going for the S50. Even with the slightly inferior sensor the extra resolution and much better tripod negates that issue. I just can't wait to be able to buy it. Especially after my first purchase of a 'prroper' telescope wasn't the experience I hoped and thought it would be. The 6in Skywatcher Newtonian on an eq mount was a very heavy and cumbersome ordeal to set up every night. Especially from my back garden which wasn't ideal for deep sky observations. Even Andromeda was an impossible target. I probably set my expectations too high but after a lot of research to get the best scope for my budget, inexperience and bang for my buck, I just felt really disappointed with what I was actually able to observe. But it would take a lot more than that to put me off my love for just looking up at our beautiful cosmos. So I think the Seestar would be a safe bet. And then go from there.
Should I buy the seestar s30 or the Sky-Watcher virtuoso gti 150p?: I already have a celestron astromaster 130eq but want better views of the planets Sky-Watcher can give me that but I will need a better cam for deep sky Is it worth it?
The answer, for most people, is "none". Telescopes are not wear items, nor are they fashion accessories. There is no reason to buy a new one every year. Unless you have a particular need that's not being met by your current OTA, there is absolutely no reason to "BUY in 2025".
The first option is cheating. If you do not buy the equipment set it all up and take the images yourself then edit the image the image is not yours. Period don't care what anyone says this is cheating end off.

I would love to see a video on what to look out for when buying a telescope on eBay. What should we avoid and what should we be looking for?

Sky Watcher 250PX Dob for me... purely visual astronomy of course... not had a scope in 15 years... cannot wait to buy it :D
I'm getting that for Xmas ca not wait to test it out
Looking forward to your review of the SQA85! Looks like an amazing scope!

QUESTION: How do you create such depth in your M1 Crab Nebula bit? 8:40 Looks real.
I would say that the next cheapest option over the Skywatcher HAC125 is actually a Celestron C6/6SE OTA with a Hyperstar 6 v4. 300mm at f2.0.

I would be VERY hesitant to buy a "Celestron" telescope off of a Chinese site such as Alibaba. How would you know that your not getting a copy?
Good point, and what do you do if you find out it is defective? What is their after service like?
I wonder which one you would lean towards between the Askar 71F and the sqa55. I have seen other TH-camrs rave about it, but not sure how it compares to the 71F

For UK people and our weather there is only one scope and that’s a RASA. Hyperstar would suffice too 🫡

Celestron C-6A XLT with x.63 reducer and Hyperstar 6 v4. Very versatile and light enough to fit on a light mount.
Your SeestarS50 recommendation is spot on. The best full all in one package value available right now.
Askar 71F w/ reducer vs Askar SQA55? Both are basically the same price at that point with sqa being slightly faster and wider field but not by much.
A lot of possibilities, one is the Altair EDQ-R 70, mm, F5, with SPF-L glass, a superb offer in the market.
I am interested in your use of those concrete blocks as piers. Might you discuss/elaborate on them?

Gso 10/12 dobsonian vs celestron nexstar 6"/8" portability not an issue.
I can't believe I only found your channel last night......😢 very well done 👏 I approved this comment 👍
can you maybe also do the same video on smart scopes? vaonis and unistellar?
Love these videos alot man
Should I buy the seestar s30 or the Sky-Watcher virtuoso gti 150p?:
I already have a celestron astromaster 130eq but want better views of the planets
Sky-Watcher can give me that but I will need a better cam for deep sky
Is it worth it?
Is Takahashi still good?
I'm keen to get either the seestar or the dwarf 3 what is the best out of them?
How about reviewing rother valley optics telescopes, rvo horizon refractor series.
I just seen the hac125 on the skywatcher gti mount in this video. Will this mount run properly with that ota ??
How about Celestron Origin and Dwarf 3?
Travel to see drones or plasma matter in the sky?
very very thank you Damon Scotting about you put audio with Ai in portuguese brazil, im from brazil and for me is very important this
I'm just about to take delivery of a 10inch Meade LX850 F8 ACF OTA... So my 2025 scope is sorted for capturing those faint distant galaxies....
14" newt or in you have the cash a 20" newt and move to australia
Dont care if you need a forklift to remove it from the delivery truck ?
❤❤❤
can i get a hearted comment
