The attorney said the others have a duty as officers and human beings to help. I agree, but is that the same as being legally obligated? Specifically I'm wondering about the one officer that wasn't "involved" as she said. Can a firefighter be charged if he/she chickens out and refuses to go into a burning building to save someone? Honest questions I'm hoping someone who knows more about the law can explain.

    To make things supper simple, as I’ve seen done time and time again. They should treat this like a gang crime, no matter what each individual’s role was. And since this was way too much excessive force that led to someone dying in custody it should carry a bigger sentence like gang crimes do.

    • @LinkinRepublic
      @LinkinRepublic 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It may not be excessive force. Wait for the body cams before deciding. Floyd resisted and was on drugs. Those two things alone means there is more to come

    I do not agree with the "intent" part. I do not think the officer ACTUALLY WANTED him to die. I am NOT supporting the officer. He was beyond wrong and needs to be tried (and convicted). Intent? That might get him a "not guilty" verdict. I dont know. That seems a stretch. I was happy to see the other officers charged for not stopping him. I believe that is appropriate.

    The chief of police should be charged as well because evil Derek had several prior reprimands & the chief should have fired him but instead he let Derek not only continue to be employed as an officer, he didn't restrict Derek's responsibilities as an officer & let him have full contact with the public knowing full well that Derek has a serious disconnect from the public. If the mayor, governor, atty general or president puts charges against the chief of police who supervised Derek, that will offer the most change that people want by sending not only a message to officers but to their superiors as well that the supervisors should get rid of these bad officers instead of letting them have SO many negative encounters with the public & still be employed as an officer with full power. I feel that the chief of police has just as much responsibility in this just like when the police charge CEO's of corporations with crimes of neglect even though they weren't directly involved with a death but they get prosecuted nonetheless. The laws should apply to all. No more 2 tier system! No more one set of rules for the public but the heads of police departments getting away with not managing their forces better. The chiefs of other stations will start managing their officers much more effectively & make the public safer by getting rid of officers with records of harmful encounters with the public if he's charged as well. That will send a very clear message & will have the biggest impact that will directly cause a change for the better & will keep the public safer from police brutality. The people in charge have to have some responsibility for not only their subordinates but for their lack of ability to have gotten rid of these trouble officers exposing the public & putting them in danger. Everyone should call for the arrest of the chief as well! Derek should have never even been there in the 1st place after his priors within the force & if Derek wasn't there, Floyd would still be alive. There's still thousands of bad officers employed right now that should be immediately let go in the wake of this & the best way to make that happen is to send a message to these Chiefs of Police that keeping these kinds of officers employed & letting them have direct contact with the public with the power they possess will NOT be tolerated! Every chief of police should go through their forces & immediately remove the officers with prior questionable contact with the public NOW! That is the change people want!!! Repeat this message & we can make it happen. We've gotten the other officers charged, let's push for the boss to be arrested to send a message to other chiefs to clean up their departments or face the consequences. No one wants to sit around & wait for another incident to happen so send a message NOW!!! CLEAN OUT THE BAD COPS WITH PRIOR NEGATIVE ENCOUNTERS WITH THE PUBLIC!!!! CLEAN OUT THE FORCES!!!
