450 miles on the OG. Can't wait to get V2!!!! Honestly, wish I could find the V1 on sale but they were almost impossible to find in men's 8.5US at full price.
Thanks for the review. Great job! I also have the opportunity to test the v2 and for me the outsole has changed quite a bit. Whereas the outsole of the v1 was rather slick, on the v2 there are « grooves » which increase a bit the thickness of rubber and improve the grip which was for me one of the weak point of v1.
I have more than 600k on my v1, still great and my top choice for longer runs. Neo Vista should be at my door soon, really curious how that works, Alex I guess you will do a comparison. But I may still not be able to resist the v2, v1 is such a great shoe, my only complaint is the stone collecting outsole.
@Chungdol coming from the SC trainer v1 I was first a little disappointed in the Superblast v1 as a long run shoe and basically used it as a daily trainer, but it did break in and soften up after a while and became one of my favorite shoes and THE long run shoe for my marathon training. I also never felt it bottoming out, but I'm a heavier heel striker running very differently (and slower) compared to Alex.
@@therunophil Thats why I was asking you, thank you. I'm also a more heavier runner but I do midfoot strikung. The Novablast 3 for example is not a bad shoe for me, but I find it very boring, and many compared the OG Superblast to a beefy Novablast 3. I look forward to the SC Trainer V3, but I have read rumors that said it wont be a very soft shoe, firmer than the rebel v4. I give the Superblast 2 a try... but so far the chinese running shoe brands got my heart as weird as it sounds. Durable, funny, soft... thank you!
@Chungdol the Mizuno Neo Vista is a super soft shoe with great bounce. If I didn't know it's EVA with some dark magic in the manufacturing process I would have sworn it must be some Peba or so. I have only one run in it so far but great first impression, also in comparison to stuff like Prime X 1 or Invincible.
I really liked the Superblast for long run at marathon or 30 sec slower pace. Out of all my shoes the foam has been the most durable. I'm well over 300 miles in it and it still feels good. However, the rubber is terrible. I agree its not great for tempo work, just lacks pop and feels too bulky under foot (even though its relatively light weight). Excited to try out the new version, the rubber looks better. And overall looks better.
The first superblast was okay but slightly too firm for me so probably skip this one and get the mizuno neo vista instead Plus I still have plenty of miles left on my original superblast
@steveh8758 Absolutely! My only gripe and it's a very small one is how hot my feet get because of that knit booty upper, however the flip side is that the upper is very comfortable when on so the warm feet are a worthy sacrifice 😂 Otherwise it's a banger or a shoe 👌🏻
The changes really isn’t the ones I wanted. Iiked the roomier fit anf didn’t havr to size down. The mesh was lightweight and perfect. Why change anything that works?
Sigh of relief, as some of my favorite shoes in the past get really nerfed in their next iteration. So kudos to Asics for the restraint, I suppose. "If it ain't broke" as they say. Prioritizing this shoe over the rest when it comes out. Thanks for the review!
Apparently the next (third) iteration will be completely different and will make some people disappointed. But let's be happy that we have the 2 now with only good changes. Can't wait to pick up a pair.
I’m a novablast 4 tr version fan… if this cost just a bit less I would try it ; but as it is just not worth it for me to upgrade from novablast for training and just grinding those miles on the gravel local trails I use .
Thanks for the great content. Please do a review of Super Blast one after all the distance and time you have spent in Super Blast One. How it has changed from out of the box till now.
Seems to be the perfect upgrade to the og superblast... More comfortable and breathable upper, better outsole, ff turbo + midsole. It might seem not that different but that's a good thing considering it's a favorite for a lot of people. Don't fix what's not broken!
So... Who at asics decided A THICKER MORE PADDED upper was needed wtf. Its 25 degrees outside and the og superblast is frying my feet. Shame. Also wasnt tge point of turbo+ to be more responsible and squishy not denser 😅 Ill grab one to test. But i thinj ill stick to the og superblast
Bah. I feel blast plus eco is very diffrent from normal blast plus. Dissapointing. But maybe the diff isnt big as you say. I also like the roll in a shoe. Early Midfoot striker.
You are not alone...Yeah people are not allowed to trashtalk it when they review it, but here and there some slips through, I know no one who would take the eco versions over the OG versions in terms for feel and performence. And I also do think: its very noticeable. Every shoe I ran with "eco versions" ran like dead bricks.
Hopefully it doesnt come through as much.. novablast is kinda ruined but superblast is still like 80 percent ff turbo plus. Also.. its asicsgrip now, not aharplus. That is a very welcomed upgrade
@@ZenDao_85 Amen, you are on point. I just hope its not "that" much firmer and that it get soften up a lot. Because the OG was too much of a brick to me.
I bought the OG last month, just a few days away from the news of superblast 2 dropping. Can you imagine how I felt? Lol. But thanks to your video, I think I'm not gonna miss anything that much. And yes I understand that "floating" feel that you mentioned. The OG just shines when I take it for a tempo long run.
I was hoping in a smaller stack high with the new version, I think 45mm is too much.... Why are you calling the old one "Superblast OG"? I never heard this name before... only "Superblast". 🤷♂ Thank you for the review.
It is now the OG as there’s a newer one. Before the second version you didn’t need to say OG as it was the only one. In the same way that world war 1 only became known as that AFTER the start of world war 2.
I just bought my Superblast last month at full price! Haha Was about to buy the Novablast 4 because of all the positive reviews I saw on it but upon trying it and the Superblast, the SB is just on another level.
Any issues on the heel section includes bottom, padding and collar? is this better than Asics Novablast 4, Adidas (Boston 12, Supernova Rise/Prima, SL 2), Saucony (Endorphin Speed 4, Ride 17), New Balance (Rebel v4 and Supercomp)
Question for you, Alex. Considering how different FF Turbo in the Metaspeed Sky/Edge+ feels versus FF Turbo+ in the Sky/Edge Paris, can you clarify why you felt that the midsole in Superblast 2 didn’t feel that much different from the original? I absolutely love the Sky/Edge Paris and was hoping you would say that the Superblast 2 was as much an improvement over the original as the Sky/Edge Paris was over the Sky/Edge+, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. FYI, I do own a pair of the original Superblast and love it. I have over 700k on it!
Its...firmer? I thought it would be a lot softer, that was the main reason why I skipped the OG, cuz almost everyone I know said "its really firm" Thank you... Then my hope will be the NB SC trainer v3 - but I also heard people say it gets firmer than the rebel v4... hmpf.

Ffturbo plus is fimer at first but soften. Wonder how that would change over 100mile.
Wrong, FF Turbo+ is way softer than FF Turbo.
Eager to get this because the OG superblast was restricted to dry days and this outsole if it works better will be welcome.

Interesting ..... but that colour is too young for me (just the midsole). I like the prototype colour but hope they blacken the interior padding.

I find the OG not comfortable for any pace below Tempo.. I was hoping for a softer bouncier shoe good for slow long runs.. Not this one I see 😂
EXACTLY. If this shoe is firmer than SB1 then it's a problem.
I agree, softer and bouncier would have been much more interesting.
You chose the wrong shoes. Superblast is a performance shoe for a speedier workout. You should get novoblast or nimbus.

Simple word to describe the main differences.
Neo Vista = Slower, Unstable, Softer, Slow Bounce.
Superblast 2 = Faster, Stable, Firmer, Fast Bounce.
