First of all, I'm gay and I know what they are doing. Any man who understands a woman well, can also speak about women. Any straight man who understands gay men, can also speak about gay men. They aren't being asked about their 'gay experiences', they are being asked about what they understand about gay men. It's as simple as that. To speak about the Prime Minister, one doesn't need to become a Prime Minister, right? What they are doing is really empowering and bold. The majority of our society is straight, and so, as long as straight people don't talk about it, it will remain a taboo and discrimination will continue to thrive.

They are behaving as progressive individuals, and are educating people about this sensitive topic. Straight people being the majority have to be in the front when advocating gay rights. Like men and women can talk about each other, so can straight people talk about gays and vice versa.

To be honest , I think that they held themselves back at most questions and answered very safely so that they dont offend anybody.

I am completely okay with two straight men answering questions about gay men... but they have to be well informed! I'm slightly disappointed with their answers. It's great that they have broken stereotypes by not taking Gay actors for this film. It was a great challenge taken upon by Ayushmann to play a gay character being a straight guy... but the problem is I don't think they can really connect with the feelings related to the theme of the film since they haven't actually gone through the trauma of coming out in a homophobic family. But anyways, Great Job! Love Ayushmann for doing films on such topics that we need to make the public aware of. 😊

"What are gay symptoms" should have been tackled more properly. People who searched for this might not have searched this with any ill intentions coz not all gay men are born gay, many develop these feelings towards other men in later stages of life too like around late teens. They are confused in starting and hence might have searched in the following wordings to better accept themselves.
Just to clear out things, "not all gay men are born gay" makes it seem like it is something made up, obviously every gay person is born gay and yes it is difficult understanding which gender you are attracted to, but that goes for everyone and not only gay or people from LGBTQ+ community.

People from LGBTQ+ just take a little more time because this topic is not shown into the light as straight couple or marriages hence many people tend to confuse themselves.
But I do totally agree that they could've answered that question in a better way.
(Inshort , every gay person is born gay they just take a little more time to figure out )

@@vaidehityagi1275 I will just tell you to research a bit more....there has been many cases where a person who never had any sexual desire from same gender had a 180 flip and became gay/lesbian at later point in life(not bisexual but gay). Similarly there has been cases where people who were gay mosy of their lives started feeling sexual desire for a women. All i will say is that their is no 'gay gene' and it has been proven by a huge study recently, but at the same time its not a choice someone can make. Their are a lot of individual experiences and environmental factors which are at play. So yeah many people do become gay even though they were not born gay.

Secondly, just like there is no 'gay gene', there is no 'straight gene' too, sexuality has been proven to be more complex and cannot be based on one gene.

They couldn't know such answers like proposals and engagement rings and about adoptions or surrogate mothers which is common in Western countries....there are romantic proposals, there are engagements and weddings and wedding bands of different kinds, gay relationship is very similar to straight relationships and usually gay man or women know if someone is gay or str8 unless someone is really closeted and does not want anyone to know than he/she can be in denial.
