I love your videos. So I’ll be starting my glosses soon. I like that you used glycerin. So are you saying If I use glycerin I’d need a preservative? I’m wondering what is it and why is it needed if so?
I believe Glycerin is water based, hence why the preservatives. Whenever you do something water based you need preservatives to avoid bacteria growth in the product.
I tried glycerin before and it ruined the whole batch & a few gloss tubes. It made the pigments separate from the mixture. Maybe it didn’t work bc I was using loose pigments instead of liquid pigments
Yes...that’s why...you should’ve mixed the pigment and oil together. I recommend using liquids wth the glycerin if your pigment mixture is not working for you.

Danun Cooper hey, go on TKB website they should give you the percentages of how much to add to your product. Usually preservatives is about .1% of your total measurements. So like .1g or .1ml. You don’t want to eyeball it cause it can actually cause reactions. Hope that helps.

If it gets to loose add more base, if it gets to thick add more oils....that’s what I did in the video and the lip oils came out perfect not thin at all. Hope this helps 🙂
I just want you to share some advice with you cuz I own my own small business selling lip glosses and stuff. The reason it is separating is because it has too much oil you need more versagel or whatever you're using and when you have it a little bit thicker and shows up better on your lips and it will not separate, you just don't want to make it too thick, this should be like when you take a spoonful of it and empty it into the bowl like you're stirring it it should leave like a Mountain for like 10 seconds if you know what I mean. Thanks for subbing! Hydrogenated Polyisobutene can be added ..however you can add it without using glycerin..gives a good soft smooth effect ....I’ll let you know where to find it if u want
I know about the hydrogenated Polyisobutene ...hydrogenated polyisobutene and glycerin not much difference in them..they are emollients..use can use either one in glosses.

hii, i was making gloss with coconut oil but the scent was soo strong that it overshadowed the flavouring oil, what do i do please?

What something to use instead of grape seed oil?
Coconut, Castor or Sweet Almond…I used Them when I first started out didn’t like them ..other than coconut oil
