Brave men so far from home saved the world. My grandfather was 17 as lead pilot. All of my great uncles died in ww2. All 12 of my uncles on my mom's and dad's side died in ww2. Only my moms dad and my dad's dad survived. God bless the man that saved us all

Extremely moving. Thank you! We in the States mark 11/11 as Veterans Day. Odd in a sense as 11/11/1918 turned out to mark merely the interlude in what Winston Churchill later called The 30 Years War.

@Momo: One of my favourite edits so far. You really reached another dimension with this one. Great craftsmanship 👍

I know it's all bad for those young Americans, but can we please not forget that those German pilots where also just young men fighting for their country? They where no different, except that they spoke another language and fought for another country. Yes there where the real National Socialists like a big part of the Schutzstaffel (SS) but you also had very fanatic and nationalstic Americans in WW2 and in Vietnam

I completely agree. If you watched carefully I tried to put pictures of german crews at the end of the video. Unfortunately there aren’t many easily available (which can be used due to copyright). Of course we should credit both sides of the war and thus some clips of the opposing side would make it a better video.
Unfortunately this is the result of a lazy editor :P

Whatever you may say about our fanatic and nationalistic airmen, you can't say they started WW2. When the Luftwaffe bombed Warsaw to rubble in September 1939, they made a triumphant propaganda film of it called "Feuertaufe" (Baptism of Fire) and sent it around Europe to demoralize their future victims. A modern review says, "This film was released Friday 5 April at a fashionable opening night in Berlin. Among the invited were ambassadors, military attachés from the Nordic Countries - Denmark, Norway and Sweden. At least the Danish Ambassador reported back to his Government and his report was discussed in the Cabinet over the coming days. These are all relatively well-known facts. What is less known is that Feuertaufe was released in the capitals of Denmark, Norway and Sweden on the same Friday evening, arranged by the German Embassies (of course). It is not clear whether people from the Danish Government were present at the show in Copenhagen, but enough officers and officials would had been there for the Cabinet to know. Those whose duty it was to make the decision whether to go to war with Germany had seen what Germany would do to those who stood firm against her. The purpose of the show was, of course, to intimidate political decision-makers not to take action against the German troops when they invaded Denmark and Norway the following Tuesday, 9 April. The plan worked with Denmark, and well enough with Norway." You can see a bad print of this jeeringly nasty film on TH-cam, or buy a good one from Amazon. The Germans thought terror bombing was the wave of the future till it came their way.

You might be right with all your text. But what’s your point? Airmen we’re soldiers that had to do whatever their government told them to do. Doesn’t matter which side. Let’s focus on the soldiers and nothing else. Thank you
