This is one of my favorite episodes! The chemistry between you all was spot on and I didn’t feel like you were whitewashing anything. Can’t wait to see the new studio when you’re done!
@dvcfan Can you guys do a show where you share how many points you have and what your vacations look like for the year. Paint the picture for newbies… Maybe it’ll inspire people to get more points.
Happy birthday Amy.
Refreshing group of hosts (guests?) ! This was such an informative chat with positive energy.
I have been an OKW owner since 1996. I bought it cheap and it has paid for itself three times over!
One thing I LOVE about this group is their analysis and thoughts are so spot on for the info they are privied to. Intelligent, and NOT NOT NOT usually based on some one off childhood memory nobody cares about like some other shows who shall remain nameless.
Panda’s take on the Shades of Green walkway got a furious nodding of the head from me. So, so mad but true.
I think you should call this series “Love it or Leave it!”
I'm going to miss the decor tiles that used to be in the showers.
THE DVC BEATLES!
Great episode and great energy. Always fun to know that my love for DVC is shared by so many. Keep the amazing content coming.
Happy birthday Amy! Really enjoyed this VLOG. Keep up the great work!
Love this. Thanks for bringing back an informative show and not a sales show.
More to come! 😉
Hilton Head was why I bought DVC.
Love this show
I am a Boulder Ridge owner and really do love the theme of the refurb. In terms of practicality, not so much. There are only 2 USBs in a room that sleeps five, 3 drawers for storage, ONE towel rack, no light in the pull down single bed and no hooks/shelf in the entrance area. I enjoyed my 5 day stay there this summer but this room would not work with more than 2 people staying there at a time. They really need to rethink some of the decisions made.
I agree. I love the refurb too but I also think they cheaped out a little. We stayed there in a brand new studio and they left the original interior doors (some people may like that) and the little fridge in our room was old and beat up. I expected a little more to be honest. While Copper Creek is more modern I thought the quality of that refurb was higher.
and why do some
studios have usbs in nightstands and some have only one nightstand and not 2 and some have zero usbs in the nightstands OR under the tv? Im so confused why some rooms were shafted
On the Poly tower and Ft. Wilderness cabins, I agree with Derek.
We used to camp at the Fort and it definitely takes on its own atmosphere and not just on the holidays.
They should build a wilderness lodge clone in Gatlinburg TN. Gatlinburg has more visitors a year than Hawaii and is within a days drive for half the country. It would be a success. Plus I feel they would sell the cash rooms as well. Disney needs to take market share from existing vacation spots not try to make there own vacation spots, at least when it comes to DVC locations.
I would be all about that!
This is why they partner with RCI or another major timeshare company
I am on team NO for the Poly tower. As you guys have mentioned, the monorail loop is already overcrowded. Think about how many more DVC rooms have been added to the hotels on that loop with no updates to capacity on the monorail. Doesn’t make for happy guests who are paying top dollar for rooms at the Contemporary, Poly and The Grand.
Poly Tower is #notmypolynesian and I side with Derek on this. It’s really sad to see Disney strip out most of the theming for more rooms.
I'd love to see a full video review of Vero Beach & Hilton Head!
I don't want carpet in bedrooms but maybe rugs, I want Murphy beds, I want luxury in the bathrooms, and want fun touches that aren't just cheap pictures on the wall. Functional rooms that are easy to clean make me feel better when sleeping though
Awesome show 👍🏼
Although I’m a west-coaster and mostly visit DL (I own at SSR, VGC, and as of yesterday, VDH) I really enjoyed listening to your frank discussions on what you like and don’t like about upcoming DVC changes (even if they were highly WDW related). I agree that a better collaboration with DCL would be awesome (we’re almost Platinum) besides just the Member cruises and you are so right that renting points to pay cash for the cruise is a much better use of your points! You didn’t mention the other awesome way to see the world in the Disney bubble - Adventures by Disney - basically DVC all over the world, VIP touring with two Plaids! Same rule applies here - don’t use your points (even though you can) - rent them out and pay cash instead! DVC members do get the perk of opening day pricing, even if the cost has gone up as a trip is selling out. So just another way to see the world with Disney… I also love Aulani and Vero (have not been to HHI yet but plan to go sometime) and would love to see others but am not holding my breath.
I wish the Poly Tower wasn’t so boxy-looking. It needs sloped roofs and diagonal lines to blend in with the angular roof lines of the longhouses.
I hope the facade gives them those options. It needs loads of foliage. Fingers crossed they can blend the properties.
Each trip, no matter how many this is for you, is different and unique. My first trip was just before space mountain opened and I was placed in stocks. My last visit was on Bob Day.
I *want* to be excited about the change at Ft. Wilderness. But I'm pretty certain much of the culture of the area is going to change. I don't see the DVC crowd decorating the grounds or doing Halloween parades, etc.
Old Key West did have a refurbishment. All that space! Boat ride to Disney Springs and covered back porch. ❤
Happy birthday Amy!🎉
Poly high rise is definitely an eye sore right now I hope it gets better with the finishing touches. I also feel there is no way they can have a separate association for that resort. It would destroy the value of the existing association. To many bungalows which creates to many points fighting for studios. Plus how would they sell the new association by saying you won’t get 11 month booking window for the bungalows that’s separate. Also the owners of the current association have been begging for 1 and 2 beds and if they split the association that would be a slap in the face to existing owners which wouldn’t be great for PR.
Our first contract was in 2001 at Wilderness Lodge. We loved that the rooms weren’t Disney themed but Wilderness Lodge themed. We’ve never expected any DVC resort to scream Disney. Everything else, OK!
Loved this episode! While we love Boardwalk, I can't wait for the refurb. It is showing it's age. I do not like the Poly tower right now. Maybe because I can't picture it blending in with the existing buildings. When the tower gets done, I think the monorail is going to be an even more congested nightmare at the end of the night. Maybe they will run more boats?
They may call them new cabins but what they look like is a tiny house style. Which has become so popular in the last 10 years. Also, I think the reason the tower studios have USB and shelving and lights is because the room is so very small. The room space to bathroom space seems to be about 50-50 which doesn’t seem super practical.
Boulder Ridge used cheap furniture. We stayed there Memorial Day. Two of the draws wouldn’t stay shut. The couch Murphy bed fell apart when we opened it! Rooms to go quality furniture. The bed side tables are very cheap. Strip of pressed board screwed to the wall already loose. Shower was not aligned correct and leaked! Overall cheap sub par refurb. May have looked nice from afar but it won’t last. Quality is not there.
DVC 1997, Old Key West. Love staying at all resorts. ❤ 🏰 😊🎉
Happy birthday Amy🎂
There are 4 WDW visitors. DVC, Regulars, Locals & Once in a Lifetime.
Thx. Always look forward to DVC show! ❤🎉🏰
It would be nice to have DVC at Disneyland Paris or Japan
Problem in Japan is its owned by Japanese.
They most definitely need Murphy beds at okw. The studios need a couch option to relax on
All of the Coffee tables should be replaced with tables like the ones at Polynesian that can fit the pillows from the Murphy beds. Even better if they can also rise up like the ones at SSR.
You guys are the best❤️
How about "Amy and the Bluegrass Boys"? 😉
I wish they had more space for clothes in the studios. I bring extra hangers when staying in a studio. And if you are in a studio with a fifth sleeper, there's no dresser, so there is barely enough room in the drawers under the bed for other people's clothes. I think like Paul said, they were designed for short stays.
Disney cruise line. What a great idea! ❤🚢 ⚓️ 🛳
Agree. I want Disney too!! 🏰
The bedding at Boardwalk was okay. The blankets in my mind didn't qualify as blankets! They were SO thin!
Timeshare companies love changing trends. It allows them to continue to "upgrade" and renovate the properties which helps their bottom line because the management fees are based off overall operating costs.
Love the convo!
Paul -- I love the idea of a DVC for DCL. I'm wondering if the laws might preclude it, given the ships are based out of the Bahamas.
Paul you said BW is getting a full refurbish but BC got a didn’t. You said BC didn’t get those Murphy bed outlets and BW prob will. Didn’t BC and BW come into DVC the same year and have a 2042 end year? How are they off in referbs?
Up until Saratoga Springs in 2004, all DVC Resorts were given a 2042 expiration date. They opened at different times, however - BoardWalk opened in 1996 and Beach Club in 2002.
Great show and it good We Don't Talk About Bruno.
yea i cant get into the throw pillows, those always go in the corner hahaha
I loved the pastel fiestaware at the boardwalk. Now the dinnerware looks so plain & generic, not part of the theme.
I like the clean, white linens. I'm Not a fan of the D-Disneyfication. If I wanted to stay at a Marriott then I would have and paid half the price. 😏
Wish Poly didn't have a high rise. Agree. 😔
You guys need to sell shirts with Panda’s ROFR monster saying “We defeated the ROFR Monster with DVC resale Market ”😊
VBR is my home too. Derek ❤
Shhhh, don't let out the DHHIR secret. It's hard for owners to get in there these days!
Tell me about it. What is going on. I own there and it is a challenge. FYI, we are there next weekend.
USB’s look like an easy solution for charging. But they can be a security issue for phones and items like that. USB’s can be hacked. The FBI put out a notice about this a while ago. It warned about places like the airport that are open to the public and the risks. Better to use a plug of your own to plug in.
So this is a regular gig? Panda is there to represent the mindly interested DVC owners.
Hey kid, want to buy a slightly used Corellian Cruiser?
DVC orbiting Black Spire Outpost would be great with a private shuttle to the planet.
You guys need to show pictures of the rooms and things you are talking about when you are discussing them. I think the increase in production will differentiate your show. Without pictures this could be a podcast. You are not taking advantage of TH-cam.
Couch beds suck!
More!
How dvc handles the new cabins will dramatically affect my interest. Love them now but they can easily price them too high and the charts will probably ruin it for me. I fear this will ruin traditions for many families for people that would have before never cared about "camping"
DVC needs a dude ranch in Wyoming or Montana.
This. Love the idea of very specific travel experiences that most all families want to accompolish along the way. Totally different- but something in NYC would be great for the same reason IMHO.
DVC needs to take over the contract for lodging in Grand Teton and Yellowstone. If you’ve ever paid $600 a night to stay in a lodge or $100 to camp at either park, you know… the demand is there and what a wonderful conservation branding opportunity.
#Bungalow swapartunities 🤦♂️
The resort monorail should not have a TTC stop to allow people on, only people off
The overall design of the studios are failure. They should have been 2 proper queen beds. As they sit, not even comparable to a regular hotel room. Studios are for couples, not family oriented.
I can’t believe they are turning into hospital rooms. I’ll just spend 3/4 less and stay in a larger room with color. How sad this is.
No one wants bed runners or throw pillows!
Great show!
