Thanks, Phil, for giving us an intelligent breakdown of the differences between an "artist" vs "craftsman". Is it possible to have a mix of both, or are they opposed to each other? I see myself as more of a craftsman because of my training, & my love for the great traditions of drumming, both technical and creative. I never knew that the word "artist" was associated with a trickster or deceiver, a very interesting take on this word. Keep hydrated there, Phil, it looks really hot there and just doing a lot of walking can be a problem if you don't get enough water/fluids. I made the mistake of doing that once, I locked myself out of my van on a hot sunny day, so I had to walk all the way home & back to the parking lot with my spare keys, the next day I had a huge headache the likes of which I never had before. Good video. How about an artist and a craftsman? Much like an officer and a gentleman, or a cook and a chef? Perhaps a craftsman is merely a sane artist? And a good one at that... If an artist is a liar then he's more akin to a politician. That is, a con artist. Perhaps the more authentic (honest) the artist, the more he's telling the truth...with his art.

hi bro!!! Yes at times its a thin line. Depending on the person. Ideally a mix of both guided by some intelligence is the key imho!

Its a great topic right? Even Plato went around and around with this for a long time! In the end a combination of both is needed I think.
