    Mike, I think it’s exemplary you were able to put on a brave face for your team, considering the chaos going around during that event. Kudos my friend.
    For seizures, the one thing you always want to do is protect the persons head. A towel under the persons head & neck will serve the purpose to save the person from brain damage. The only other thing you can really do is check to see if the person is breathing and make sure there is no obstruction in their airway.
    It’s tough to face that situation in the field with bls training.
    I highly recommend you have someone on staff (primary and secondary) your staff trained in bls (basic life support/cpr). It doesn’t cover everything, but will cover basics like this, and what proper protocol is. In this day and age, you just never know when you will need to use it.
    I hope Chris can get the care and attention he needs.

    Such an interesting story of this install. Enjoyed watching. Shows how much humanity is involved in any kind of constructino project. Kudos to Mikey for taking such good care of his crew, and putting his people first. So interesting to me that the homeowner decided to chuck a high-quality triple-pass Biasi B-10 and Amtrol indirect and endure the expense of a complete replacement with Weil McLain equipment when he could have just swapped that Riello oil burner on his Biasi B-10 for a Carlin EZGas Pro burner. The burner is about $1200, plus installation. So about a $3500 capital investment for the conversion. To have a master plumber like Mikey furnish and do a high-quality install of that Weil McLain equipment is going to cost many times that. No question that a designed-for-gas boiler like the Weil-McLain is going to be a more-efficient system than a retrofitted boiler, but it's going to take a long time to make up the delta in capital expense.

    • @williamcandee5267
      @williamcandee5267 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PipeDoctor Thanks for the info. With respect to the B-10, Biasi actually will furnish you one set up for gas with a Riello gas burner (sorry, brain fart on my part) straight from the factory, so it would seem at least to be a manufacturer-approved setup. You're correct, of course, that the Biasi gets about 87 AFUE with the oil burner, but only about 84 AFUE with the gas gun, so, as I noted, it's going to be less efficient.

    In the past I've put some diesel into my home heating tank just to stretch it out until I can get a delivery of heating oil. I can't guarantee it won't damage your system but it worked OK in mine.

    • @tccoggs
      @tccoggs 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Diesel and home heating oil are basically the same, they add the red dye to the home heating oil as it's not taxed as a road fuel. If you a trucker and you can caught running heating oil they slap you with a big fine. You can run kerosene as well in an oil burner, but it's harder on the pump seals. In cold climates it's common to add some kerosene to an exterior oil tank as it will help keep the fuel from gelling.

    Good job Mike and crew. I have mono manifold in my apartment or in the building, told my landlord it doesn't work as well as a split system or as efficient as a basic system, but basically said I don't know what I'm talk about, because I didn't install the boiler or not a master plumber, I told him I used to install boilers with a master plumber as a helper, still said I don't know what I'm talking about. That's strange that a thermostat produces 24 volts of it own power, must be connected to a separate transformer, might back feed the circuit and damage the boiler X-former. Sorry about Chris's first day, tell him I wish him well. Good job again.

    I was always curious from houses I been to. Like your install where that supply/return looks like 1" black iron, whats the reason for the boiler having such big diameters and going with that 1" for those distances when its getting reduced way down to that 3/4" copper? Is it for velocity in/out of the boiler? Always wondered why installs dont reduce right at the boiler supply/return ports.

      @@PipeDoctor yes and no, the truck may be making scheduled deliveries to many waiting for parts or even to other stores with people waiting for their parts? make one guy wait or potentially many? it sucks, but that happens when understaffed or nobody has credentials or skill for tow motors or not the warehouse. they don't often let newbie hires(temp workers) go free-for-all nuts.

    If you can believe it, I just installed a new oil fired warm air furnace today for a customer. An empty 910 litre oil tank costs over $2300 to fill!

    really could have saved money and just convert the oil to gas burner. the gas company will install them for you too.
    $1000 bucks- Carlin 70,000-230,000 BTU EZ Gas Pro Conversion Burner
