I still hope that BBCSO gets some much needed love at some point in the future.
What kind of love you would you like to see it get?
@@jptaylormore spitfire player related but as it affects BBCSO, a purge button. Haven’t been able to use the library once because of the insane memory usage!!
A "love you long time" kind of love ❤@@jptaylor
@@uw0tm838 lol 😂
@@thewhiteshift9266 Is this Pro or Core? And is this with a template, like all instruments?
Y'know what, considering how SSO used to be well into the thousands of dollars for a bundle of everything this new package has for just $600-ish, I'd say this is a really nice move. I just need to wait until I'm in a financially comfortable situation for me to pick it up.
Waiting until you're in a financially comfortable situation to buy a new sample library? What's *wrong* with you?!
@@MamaSymphonia lol ikr what kind of nerd does that
Worth mentioning: The ~600 bucks price point already has VAT included. With the launch discount and excluding VAT, the net price was 377€. A steal, really!
Never had this issue. Are you on Windows? @@ghfjfghjasdfasdf

I’d love to see them do this with studio orchestra, scripting a total performance patch for all the soloists and legato capable instruments of that library. Updated GUI and quicker and easier functionality. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
20:48 Paul Thompson thinking wow who's responsible for that B as Bb...
A great and unexpected update to my favourite library. Thank you Spitfire!
Most amazing update I've ever seen from you guys!

What a great update. Thanks Spitfire!
Can Spitfire throw a bone to all the Spitfire Studio Pro Library owners? Please tell me it is in the pipeline to upgrade this package.
This!! Studio Orchestra with this sort of “streamlining” would be AMAZING. (Plus the performance patches, of course!!)
I don't understand why Spitfire Audio doesn't offer monthly payments.
That looks amazing for that new update!
I would imagine if Spitfire Symphony Choir would become a reality.
I guess Eric Whitacre choir could technically be a Spitfire Symphony Choir if you wanted since they were both recorded at the hall.
Maybe, but this won't be easy to turn that library into the Kontakt Library for making come true.
Thanks Paul. Lovely demo. Nice redesign.
Absolutely incredible deal. Purchased and loving it
AMAZING. What an incredible refresh. the performance patches have me spoiled. No more keyswitching! So expressive
The visual representations and being able to lock in transitions are fantastic features! 🙌
Very good news ! I'm very happy and excited to try it!
Merci ! J'ai hâte de le tester 🎹😍🎧
Well done Spitfire Team the sounds along with the interface will be excellent.
This is a very good price for this comprehensive re polished product.
the quality is amazing!!
So, just bought this, it's a weird feeling and I'm really glad this came out when it did, I almost pulled the trigger on Albions with the 6 libraries, but the pure quality of this one just shocked me for the price so I got this instead, see you in 15 hours when it installs lmao
Very nice walkthrough!
After years of experiments with other libraries I came back to SSO in 2022 and never touched another one since. SSO beats them all - and now that great Redux! Thank You, Spitfire!
I always work offline with them. Sure You're not talking of another company / product? Opus?
@@ghfjfghjasdfasdfhow many times are you going to repost this.
how is the loading time per instrument? do you use a external ssd to handle the size of the library? @@ASX2001
I don't know, I love cs series too ^^ I do a mix of both
All Spitfire orchestras are insanely wet for my taste. Imho EW Hollywood Orchestra and VSL Synchron series are on quite a different level, especially the second one. Sure, so is the price. However this is the first orchestra from Spitfire I'm thinking about due to a low price.
Nicely done, I hope some of the other Kontakt libraries eventually get a UI reworking as well.
Very exciting! Looks really clean and simple to use!
I know it's not what makes a library really great, but I dig that nice and clean user interface!
I'm excited too, Paul!
This is a nice update, and a compelling price point. Well done Spitfire!
Is this versiom replacing both the standard and professional versions of Spitfire Symphonic Orchestra?
Indicators that it is are: All mentions of the professional version has been purged from the Spitfire site. It includes features (mic positions, etc.) that were specific to the Professional version. I'm told that owners of the Professional version has seen it replaced by the Spitfire Symphony Orchestra in their account.
Indicators that it isn't are: The price (less than half of the price for the professional version) and it's size (half of the size of the professional version, despite including more instruments).
It would be great if Spitfire would clearify this confusion. Both in a video and on the site. That would answer the question: "Is it any point buying SSO now, or should we wait for a professional version to show up." It would also help those customers who recently bought the Professional version (for thrice the price) decide whether they've been ripped off or not!
I love the chamber strings. Might have to pick this up when I can justify it!
I hope that UI update comes to older libraries like Chamber Strings, LCO Strings, Drama Toolkit, Orchestral Swarm etc. So much nicer and no really tiny icons. Drawing in velocity curves for Drama Toolkit was fiddly, on a 4k screen.
This is really exciting! SSO is definitely on my radar to get later this year. This deal is unbelievable. Everyone is so grateful!
First of all there was HZ Strings that blew my mind. Then there was BBCSO which robbed my pocket even more and I thought it couldn't be beaten and then Spitfire go and do this !!! Damn you Spitfire I am going to have to go back through most of my compositions and replace some if not all of the sounds with this new Plugin. It is truly exceptional and I now understand why a lot of people say that BBCSO is smaller and more intimate in nature compared to this. I have owned a number of the separate Plugins but never really used them having been taken over by HZ Strings for action and BBCSO for everything else but honestly this is just sublime. Got a lot of work to do!!!! Again damn you Spitfire just cut it out will you :)
This was totally unexpected, I was pleasantly surprised when I received the email about this, earlier today
Awesome!!!
This is one of my favourite libraries, and I love it more than the bbc equivalent. Now, this bundle is the best one to introduce yourself into orchestral music in sample-world. I wish you include in the future the chamber strings and the solo strings inside the package (libraries I also own). The UI looks amazing and it seems to have everything I missed about the former version. Great job!!!
Are they the same samples, just reworked for more intuitive triggering? I have the Symphony Complete (symphonic strings, brass, wws, percs, and harp (and a masse thing i've never used)) and am afraid to upgrade to this version. I'm assuming I'll need to redo all my articulation maps in my generic template?
Yes, it is just that@@andrewfeazelle . However, I'm trying it and I think it is really worth it. There are few things I would work further on, however. For instance, I would include in the performance patches a way to toggle between styles. I mean, for instance, changing between performance with CS, performance sul G, performance Sul Pont and performance sul Tasto with just a click, as they all can use the same "performance" techniques. With brass, the change would between muted and not-muted and so on. This is the only thing I miss. Other than that, it is a very great improvement.
@@ArturoAlberookay cool thanks!
I hope Spitfire can have such musical products that are performed by the London Symphony Orchestra in the future. But this one must be new, so I couldn't wait!
Very awesome! If you can also add the pro mics, that would be very very nice!
Amazing !
Nooooo waaaay! ❤❤❤ This is actually more than I could ever expect from an update from you, guys! The way it's streamlined... Yes, yes, yes! This is going straight on the upcoming Bring Me The Horizon album!
Any chance to have new templates dedicated to this? The famous "The Page" with all free templates for BBCSO has been removed, would absolutely love new templates. Thanks for this video!!
Awesome!!!🌟🌟💯💯
Very nice! The new interface looks great and the articulation switcher is very cool.
But this is your 2024 reminder that “double-tonguing “ and” triple-tonguing” refers to how the tongue moves to begin the note, not how many notes are played, and there’s still no such thing as” quadruple-tonguing,” lol.
Nice work, guys! 👍
Sounds lovely... overall seems a great update to the original library. Were the samples re-processed? They sound clearer in this demo video.
At last, a GUI that does not require binoculars :). Any chance of this on the Albion Libraries? Thanks.
Thank you for this! This is amazing! SSO Pro is my most used orchestra for projects! Glad the legato got a much needed revamp to fix all those little quirks!
Edit: Just played V2's and Violas' legatos. Amazing work! So much better than before! Fast lines and slow lines alike sound so much better than before (without having to edit them to death)!
I'll say though I'll need to keep the Pro mics installed still because I do love the sound of the ribbons and gallery mics still which were not included in this release, regardless, amazing job!
Looking forward to playing with my copy. Will Chamber Strings be added to the mix as well?
gonna include the professional version mics at some point??
Really great, and outstanding value. Love this new GUI, and the right-clicking options are mind blowing! I honestly feel this to probably be the best complete library Spitfire have ever released. I mean, look at what you're getting!
A question please:
The Total Performance patches slightly confuse me, only with regard to the practice of splitting patches between longs and shorts, as demonstrated in Paul's run-through of his giant template. How, then, does one implement this? Eg: if one is executing a continuous performance, containing short and long articulations, how should they be "farmed out" to different reverb settings, a la Paul's template demo? Hoping that's clear!
I ask, because I created my own enormous template based exactly on Paul's structure, so I'm fascinated to hear his explanation on how these Total Performance patches would work, under such conditions.
Many thanks for any advice. Such a great library with unparalleled value. Wow!
UPDATE. OK, my finger slipped on the purchase button, and I accidentally pressed it.
Will a Professional version be coming with the extra mics and mixes? Or is this the final packaged single version we get?
Would like to know that as well. I only use the JJ Mixes and they are not included
Is there going to be an update on the pro lineup as well?
as usual - gorgeous. … but didn’t you already release this?
I was already halfway there and this update pricing makes it irresistible! Hoping it will work with NPPE in Dorico (NotePerformer) which is where I do most of my writing these days, though I'm sure it's a lot more to program with the new legatos. Appreciate the simplified kontakt UI, looks great!
(EDIT: Update - I got the full library and tried using it with NotePerformer, but sadly the Engine doesn't recognize even the legacy patches due to how they are consolidated under one library- I learned that the current NPPE has been programmed to look for the individual libraries as they were previously added within Native Access. I am hoping that Wallander will be able to update their engine to support this new library, but in the meantime I'm curious if there would be any way to install the legacy patches in Native Access in such a way that they appear like the original libraries did?)
The best "new" product in quite a while at an accessible price, the overall sound and vibe for me is simply the best! Thank you, thank you! Goodbye tax refund! 🙂
3 questions:
1. What is the difference to the symphonic series (is there any)
2. If there is a difference, is an update possible?
3. What's the price for an update?
Thanx
Downloading... can't wait to get stuck into these sounds! What's the name of the controller being used? Love the little bank of faders.
Paul. Love this! I have asked this question before. What are you using for a track pad and pen? We have a very similar setup. Thanks! Rik
Sounds amazing! Any plans to support MPE in any of your products in the near future?
Game Changer
Any new updates for Spitfire Labs coming? Not been ay for ages.
Awesome library! Any chance it'll be available in the Spitfire interface in the future?
Na na na na na na na naaaa...CASH GRAB!
Is there a kind of dynamic limiter for the different ranges within the instruments? I still feel that is the part that is missing in these libraries.
I'm really enjoying the trailer music for this, and have been trying to transcribe it. I've got the jist but there's some details I just can't figure out. For instance the cacophony of woodwind flourishes on the chord change to C# major (0:08 on this video). Who wrote this cue? I'd really love to see a making of if the composer would be so inclined. :D
I purchased Spitfire Symphonic Strings shortly before it became discontinued. Will I receive the updated GUI free of charge?
I think you get a discount price from the full bundle. I certainly have, because I had a few bits already so it came down from £499 to £307 for me.
I'm confused --- what about the extra mic signals and mixes from SSS, SSB, SSW "Pro"? Are those coming later?
Indeed. This was a nice little mysterious surprise in my inbox this afternoon. I wanna dive right into this but I really love my Jake Jackson mixes. But I love this new UI. Conflicted. Don’t leave the Pro version too long please Spitfire.
Hello to you, I have a small question if you allow. As someone who wishes to compose grand orchestral music for opera, film, or video games in the style of Hans Zimmer or John Williams, which orchestra would be most suitable between the BBC Core Orchestra and the Spitfire Symphonic Orchestra? To provide further guidance, I am ideally looking for an orchestra equipped with the greatest number of articulations and instruments, with a soft and warm sound for emotional music, featuring solo instruments that sound good and realistic. This orchestra will be paired with the Metropolis Ark One from Orchestral Tools to add the power it might lack during climactic moments.
Thank you in advance for your response, and best wishes! 🎶
I own the Symphonic Strings and Woodwings and to be honest I don`t hear much different with with the New Strings and Woodwinds? Thank you
I must say I wasn't impressed with the limited release of the performance patches in the original SSO. I don't know if you have refined them here or whether my memory is wonky, but these appear more playable and more 'predictable' (in a good way). And amazing that you've expanded them out. Can definitely see myself using these. Just please please please keep going and introduce a professional version soon. I can't be doing without the amazing Jake Jackson mixes. I'd really appreciate if you'd put out a statement with regards to this. :)
Great! Can I just buy the curated ensembles patch? :)
I admit I do not own any Spitfire instruments. However, I think they've had the best all-in-one with BBC. Yet now, this just might claim first prize. I like that GUI. When sequencing with unbridled inspiration, having a seamless way to toggle between articulations is imperative.
BBC sounds amazing, no doubt. But if you, like me, compose full orchestration in real time by using Divisimate, it's unusable because of its truly poor optimization. I say that while owning a significant number of Spitfire, VSL, OT and EW products.
It's not a system issue either.
SSO has always been amazing and it's great to see it revamped, upgraded, and still in Kontakt.
@@NoNoNoNoYoureWrong I wasn't sure what Divisimate is, but I looked it up. I have Vienna Ensemble Pro. Divisimate sounds similar in its approach. I might give this SSO a chance.
@@alleyway3215 I don't personally think VEP and Divisimate are really in the same category. VEP is a routing and management software from what I understand.
Whereas Divisimate allows you to both polyphonically and single note control up to 32 individual midi tracks at one and route it appropriately.
Without Divisimate, you would have to record each part separately: first the violin part, then the cello, then the brass, and so on. This would be time-consuming and would require you to switch between different instrument settings on your digital audio workstation (DAW) for each take.
With Divisimate, you can set up your keyboard so that when you play a chord or a melody, it automatically splits your keyboard playing into separate parts for each section of the orchestra. For example:
The lower keys of your keyboard could control the cellos and basses, adding depth and warmth to your music.
The middle section of the keyboard could be mapped to the violins and violas, providing the main melodic content.
The upper keys could trigger brass instruments like trumpets and horns for powerful accents or themes.
Special key combinations or velocity thresholds could be set to add woodwind flourishes or percussion hits for additional texture and rhythm.
So, when you play your keyboard, Divisimate sends the right notes to the right virtual instruments, all in real-time. It's like you're conducting and playing with an entire orchestra at your fingertips, allowing for a rich, complex musical performance by just one person. This can be particularly useful for composers, arrangers, and producers looking to quickly sketch out orchestral arrangements or create lush, layered soundscapes without needing to manually program each part.
question: what are those controllers called that look like mixing knobs to control kontakt?
What's the fader controller he uses to control dynamics etc.. ??
Hi Paul. I have 2 questions: 1. Which model is the faders' controller you have at you left? 2. I see you ever control dynamics and vibrato together, and the result is awsome; so do you move 2 faders contemporary or do you control both with the same fader? Thank you for your answer
This is all good, but the Pro version which is loved by so many has been removed without any notice. Those of us who had wanted to buy Pro have been left a bit high and dry - that's a shame. The gallery mics, the close ribbons, stereo mics and the Jake Jackson mixes, all gone. I feel a bit apprehensive as to what is going to disappear next!
I'm trying to learn how to compose and write whole scores and symphonies. Would it be better for me to use a library like this one ? Or your solo instrument libraries?
For that I’d definitely go for this over their solo instruments, especially since you get soloists for everything but the strings! I use their chamber strings a bit more often than these symphonic ones, but these are quite lush and from what I can tell the new
performance legatos across the range solve my one major issue with this suite of libraries.
I'd like to hear it dry with no reverberation.
I purchase.
I've collected many of the Abbey Road releases but I'm strongly considering getting this for the full orchestra. Also, what is your expression controller here?
+1 for the little fader bank... that looks nice!
I want to get this but apparently it doesnt function with Mac High Sierra OS!? And is this just an update or can you buy as complete standalone product for Kontakt?
Really nice update for someone who already owns it all 🙌🏻
Does it work with Seaboard Rise2 and MPE?
Looks and sounds very exciting but, can we have prices in different country currencies? Maybe a drop-down menu so we can select our own currency. Should be a simple software update. Pass it on to whoever can make this happen. That would be very helpful. I'm in Australia and I have to use a currency converter to find the prices in my country every time. 🙃
Will there be/ is there a way to get polyphonic legato. The individual techniques sound quite a bit worse, and this psck has a huge ram and storage requirement, compared to bbcso for example
Can Spitfire Symphony Orchestra be downloaded via Native Access?
I have spent a few thousand on Spitfire libraries. And I would buy this and spend a lot more if everything was definitively Sonoma compatible. And as of 3.28.24, Kontakt 7.9 is supposedly just now compatible. You guys should seriously consider using your own dedicated player for all your libraries…something like Sine player by Orchestral Tools….which is stellar.
Second, dang I just got BBC pro.
I think I prefer BBC… this sounds harsher IMO
Love the sound of SSO, but there's something about BBCSO that feels "faster" to use. I think because I can copy a trombone part to the celli with less massaging into place. Air Lyndhurst has an amazing sound but they had a lot more experience recording orchestral libraries by the time they did BBC. I couldn't give up either of them.
I'm not helping, I know
@@ezpkns69 haha any conversation helps thank you for answering. I’ve been chewing over which symphony library to buy for a few months now as it’s such a huge decision for me and I can can’t backtrack. On listening time and time again to them all there’s something about the ‘sound’ of SSO that grates me, the room or the natural verb perhaps…
BBCSO Pro is massive though at over 600gb… and I think paying £240 for their SSD is a bit naughty
Hope this but for Chamber strings!
I only own Spitfire Symphonic Strings. How can I benefit from the new UI without spending money on the full orchestra? Is there a free update as well? Couldn’t find it in my user account.
Does this have to go through Kontakt or can it "stand alone" in your DAW? (Also, does it work with the free Kontakt Player?)
Exactly my question mon ami! 👍🎶
Is this an update to my Symphonic Orchestra library or is this a repackaged version with a new UI that I have to buy again?
It's free if you own SSS, SSW, SSB and Joby Burgess percussion. I got the email through this afternoon saying I'd bought it and got my new serial number. No charge.
What is the expression controller he uses?
I can control most instruments in this, but when I have Celli performance it goes crazy when I f.ex. touch dynamics all the Mixes Change, and all other controllers move with it like Vibrato and Expression...and uses very much machine power .. (I have not gotten my new Mac Studio yet)- anyone knows how to fix?
Can someone explain what the difference is between this one and bbc symphony orchestra professional?
What great surprise from Spitfire! The magnificent tone of Air Lindhurst captured here makes this a very tempting library. Also good to see it released on Kontakt (Still no purge in the boring SF player). Lots of bang for your buck here :)
Lets hope the library doesnt get cracked !
How does this compare to BBCSO ?
omg, so sad I missed the intro price. Would have loved to pick this up for 377€
“it’s been used in countless blockbuster scores” I thought they use real orchestras for these? Do you have an example of a blockbuster movie I could rent that used this library for the score?
I see you also really like G minor, haha, great video
Can somebody explain to me the difference between The Spitfire Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Symphony Orchestra (Professional)? Both seem really good, still one is nearly double the price
Both are all in one orchestras. BBCSO Pro has more mic positions (way too many imo) and solo strings, but the MAIN difference is where the libraries were recorded. SSO was recorded at AIR Lyndhurst, which is a much larger and more ambient space than Maida Vale, where BBC was recorded. The sound signature of AIR can be heard on countless movie scores, which gives the samples an instantly recognizable "filmic" quality that is also very soft and lush. The content and articulations between the two are very similar though, so make your decision based on the SOUND you want. In my professional opinion though, there has never been a more powerful library available for a cheaper price than SSO, ever, in the history of the technology.
have you had experience with these two libraries? Which library for example has the longest loading time?
@@MamaSymphonia
@@StraatBil Yes, I own both libraries. They both load very quickly. For SSO, you have to remember to batch resave the library in Kontakt before you use it or it will take forever to load. :)
