I remember watching it in APRIL of 1973, i was 10 years old . My parents let me stay up late so I could watch it with them. We had this 19 inch black/white tv set , it sat on a base that had wheels so you could move the tv around and it had long rabbit ears which sometimes would be wrapped in aluminum foil to get a better picture. Those were the days 😃🌞🙌

The deluxe edition DVD is a great package.
I wish the deluxe DVD version could be reissued again with new inside pictures under the DVD holders with picture of the bronze statue there and a picture of the concert ticket , also in blue ray and a bonus section of still pictures with instrumental Elvis Hawaii songs and tv commercials from 1973 ,if possible interviews with some fans who saw the concert .TCB
Idea also a new philharmonic concert with an Elvis big screen videos and a new hologram and after the concert a movie screen with the 5 songs record later after the concert , and filmed for a tv show and a new concert ,TCB

My mother was a huge fan and, remember watching it on tv, I was 8 years old and, I also have the first pressing with the gold hype sticker and, it’s still sealed!!
I love this concert and, I have a red vinyl version as well sealed and, 4 or 5 other copies!!!!
Remember watching it in B/W stayed only to watch Burning love as it was the summer time in Sydney.
In '85, I bought a German pressing of the Aloha CD before I had a CD player.
I always thought that was weird also , the girls standing around the cardboard stand up of Elvis ! I am sure , that had to be the Colonel's idea ! Elvis would have surely taken a minute , to stand around all of those beautiful ladies ! Wow , I never have seen the video disc , of the concert ! I remember as a kid , my neighbors having a video disc player .

Yes i watched the Aloha Special when it was on tv in April 73 here in Canada...ha ha we only had a 19" color tv then!!!! I was kinda disappointed when i watched as i hadn't seen Elvis singing live since August 71 inTahoe (we saw him later that month 4/73 twice in Tahoe, drove 1000 miles down from Canada..)remember tho we had seen Elvis in 69, 70, and 71... 22 times in that period...this Elvis 4/73 was away different from that Elvis...i guess because of his set or because he didn't move as much and that was different...but of course as the years have gone by i do love it too!!....i found a bootleg Aloha the Ultimate experience and it has the best sound!!!!...i have all the cd releases of course and only 2 vinyl as i wore out the original.....🤣 i was 25 when it first aired...but really it seems like yesterday watching it on that little 19" tv...now i have a 65" with 4 big JBL speakers and a subwoofer to listen to that wonderful sound of Elvis!!!! 🤗

Wow 50 years I've still got the original album didn't realise it was 50 years got it of a guy called tod slaughter who had a shop called heanor records in derby
My mom has the Aloha Fram Hawaii album with the Chicken Of The Sea sticker on it & she even has the Germany Version & the Steamroller Blues sticker too still sealed. Her complete Elvis Presley collection are still sealed & put in the vault with the other rare to find Elvis Presley records.
Back when I was collecting new records, I went to my workers store, looking for the original passing of G.I. blues and then I flipped the back just to see if there was any others in the Elvis section and found Elvis Aloha from Hawaii and had to decide between this and G.I. blues and I got this because it had more famous songs and to be honest because it was only 14 dollars on sale but great condition

I recall seeing it in 77 here in the Uk, if it was shown in 73 I don't recall. I would have been 16 going 17 in 77 so I'm giving you a few tears Ed!, only a handful mind 😂

the color sleeve inside of the record a elvis concert picture from a 1972 concert is placed between the Hawaiian ladies , I wish Elvis was actually in person in the picture , could have asked Elvis when he was in Hawaii in November 72 to be in a candid picture with the women for the picture sleeve ?
Awesome album and awesome concert..... yess but, they should have that "Foo"l album picture of Elvis instead or the " Pure Gold " picture.
It's like they were too hurry.

Great video:) Love this concert one of my favorites, love all the tunes and Elvis sounds great:) watched and listened many mant times. I have the US, German, Japanese, Canadian, FTD cd versions love them all:). Have the deluxe dvd as well and a Japanese filming of the show on dvd. Yep Ronnie Tutt was amazing.

I was 9 years old and first watched it on my magnovox black and white TV, I was mesmerized and couldn't keep my eyes off the TV. I still feel chills thinking about it. Once released my parents bought it for me on cassette album and I couldn't stop playing them. Wore the cassette out.

I watched the concert live to air here in Oz. Remember it well. I was 13. I have the original cd pressing and vinyl and the 2 disc set. I also have the Legacy 2 disc cd set and the US and UK Deluxe edtions of the dvds. But they do not compare to the Laserdisc quality. The LD versions are so much better quality in PQ and SQ. Have both the US and Uk discs. Cant get the FTD set as it is out of print now, sadly.
I guess the only concert your parents didn t attend to was ***Aloha from Hawaii**. I taught it came out in Feb./73 .I remember it was in winter,and we ate 1 hour earlier.because my parents didn t want to be disturb when ELVIS was on..By the way, .did you know that Johnny Depp (the comedian) sang ELVIS.s songs. ..Live and learn....

That sealed R213736 is a record club stereo reissue, is definitely a gatefold, but with no die-cut in the cover. The inner sleeves are the same as the die cut releases. You could have the orange dynaflex, tan, or black label DNT labels inside, I've got all of them. No way to know without opening that puppy up. I would in a heartbeat!

my recollection of watching this show for the first time, is that it must have been a few years after the fact, though i know it was aired here in Norway on NRK TV February 19, 1973, but that was one year before i became an Elvis fan, so if i watched it on TV, i cannot remember it... (or i should say, if i had watched it, i probably would have been made into a fan right there and then in 1973 :) ... what i know for sure is that i heard the album a good while before i saw the show... back then there were limited home video or video recording opportunities, it was before VHS became widely available...
I would love to know what the Quadradisc sounds like.I'm surprised RCA/Sony haven't done a surround sound 5.1 DVD to update this historic concert.
Hi Ed, here is the answer you are seeking. The English version is exactly the same as the Australian version of Aloha. It was originally released here in Australia and England with the inside double cover spread of the World Map and those arrows showing the countries where the Special would be shown. Here in Australia, we got the Telecast live on the night it went to-air on 14th January 1973. As a side note: I think the current FTD remaster of Aloha has out-shined the original vinyl work, as I have found imperfections within the vinyl since its 1973 release. Stay safe and go well.

Hi Ed i got this the year it came out but not the day my version is 2 disc Sterio great concert ..i leaent later i could have seen it Live by Saterlight oh well ..i do have the cobcert on dvd two sisc two xoncerts as you disceibed and the 3 sisc 68 come back which i still love watching Hope you and your family have a happy Easter atay safe

@Paul Gwyn Paul something i only just found out is that the geosationary satellite that was launched 22 Jan 72 didn't have the range technically at the time to reach USA live. Interesting.

Now hearing the show so many times over the years it’s overall not his best vocal performance but you hit on the highlights: I’ll Remember You, You Gave Me A Mountain, A Big Hunk of Love and then the over the top amazing What Now My Love , that last note he hits , incredible! Ed last years FTD 3 CD disc release of the Aloha show is best remastering I’ve encountered of the Aloha Show, it’s just amazing.

I love that concert. I can't remember when I first watched it, but I did buy it on CD (the first CD you showed) and, when it came out, the Deluxe Edition 2 DVD set. I also watched the 40th Anniversary Edition on TH-cam and it was really awesome, really well put together.

Great Aloha collection and I love the show too. EPE did release that 40th anniversary enhanced version which is great. Also in Japan there was a mastering fault on early pressings on the song I Can’t Stop Loving You where they spliced in the MSG version. Crazy indeed!!

I could be wrong but I think that... Your UK copie looks like an original Feb. 1973. Apparently there are two original versions from February 1973, yours and another but with the difference that the records were pressed in France with the same sleeve printed in the UK. No Die-cut gatefold on both versions. The following versions were full UK but with a darker RCA orange label and then the black and silver label.

I watched it with my grandmother. My dad wanted to watch but my parents were going out with friends that night. I was 11 at the time. Was very excited to watch , but disappointed my dad couldn’t watch as he was a big Elvis fan. Couldn’t wait to see Burning Love .

Interesting tidbit....the RIAA changed a rule to grandfather in double albums that hadn't previously been defined as such. They didn't hesitate to double "album" sales figures for Beatles White Album, now credited with 24 million "albums" sold. It has easily been over three years and they've yet to double Alohsa's figures.
