I was stagemanager at one of his gigs in the Netherlands and it was fking jaw dropping. I could not believe what I saw and I distinctly remember all the other DJ's at that show being in AWE of his skills on the decks, the layering, the scratching and the live beat cutting (taking two breakbeats and cutting between them to make something completely new). He's just unmatched
The DTRH set right? Out of this world... I saw him at Draaimolen playing b2b with skee mask last year. I don't think I'll ever experience something like that anytime again.
@@LeOn-bc6vf And jeeeez what an amazing set it was, absolutely blew me away, as per! Certain he played that conforce tune at 45 as well, totally in awe of this mans talent and cant wait for the next time i see him
He's so humble "People's brain's want things to work" I love that. Takes the pressure off and honestly...he makes it look so easy. Such a unique and inspiring approach. Big fan.
might make u want to give up hope for ever being this talented but at the same time its truly inspiring stuff, beautiful. creative and completely transcending the 'norm'
What makes DjRum so special? Huge musical knowledge and in my opinion a continuation of the sound of the 90s in a new version (jungle, breacore, dnb, dub, broken beats, 2step, click n cuts, big beat, ambient techno, idm, glitch ... etcetera). The 80's generation feels right at home. Chapeau bas!
I used to do exactly the same thing and spend hours in those 50p sections of Vinyl Exchange. I remember picking up Ho on Dizzee's Dirtee Stank label (from the Notting Hill one) - think that definitely goes for more than 50p these days! It got to the point where I picked up one of those portable Vestax record players - game changer for digging in the bargain bins! I think I got a good 1/3 of my techno vinyl collection back in the day thanks to those sections.
I wasn’t born early enough to get into vinyl and digging for records in the way that DjRUM is talking about and it’s such a nostalgic feeling even though I never experienced it back in the 90s and 00s. This is so inspirational for so many reasons. Digital may never be the same thing that vinyl is, but keeping the spirit and the soul of this kind of DJing alive in the digital is what I hope to do in my own music.
never too late to get into digging. it's not the same as it was then but the thrill of finding a diamond in the rough, taking it home and listening, sampling it and making something new, never gets old. tangible media has a certain magic (and im not just talking about indistinguishable sound quality differences)
I just saw him at Melt festival. It was by far the best performance I've heard and seen there this year. Afterwards I came to the conclusion that I didn't really knew what Djing can look and sound like
It's amazing too see him further explain the use of the Ofra Haza record. Blew me away when he played it in the London-Bridge set... I found this record in my dad's record collection a few years ago and made jungle tune out of it myself. suchhh a haunting vocal. Was amazing to hear him use that
The way he talks about music with the utmost romantic passion is the reason why he's as good as he is. Really enjoyed the vid, watched tower bridge over 10 times!
Seeing him next Saturday for like the 5th time. I'm excited to see what mad sounds and techniques he will bring every time. Seen Djrum rock festival stages, small, dark basements, Fabric. He has insane chops and confidence in manipulating his material in a precise yet rough way that's so satisfying.
So good to hear worlds collide here - My man Hatti Vatti's tune, combined with Djrum's scratching of flutes in a DJ Krush style - I mean, come on. What's not to like!!
Also started my music journey with downtempo and trip hop and led me to darker sounds as dubstep and then jungle. Maybe that's why i always liked DJRUM so much. The best doing eclectic sets.
Had the pleasure of watching Djrum DJ on 3 different nights in Manchester and I can honestly say they were some of the best nights I've been to. Absolutely unreal artist.
wow i just watched the vid through////. thanks for this intimate recording. so cool !!!!!!! i was 10 in '95////. you called out so many of my favs as your early downtempo influence
I love all of your mixes, especially the dekmantel podcast. Amazing track selection and blends all throughout. Please bless us with a new studio mix soon!
This guy studio has the most humble setup with a pair of Yamahas HS7 and a freaking Mackie CR5 in the DJ booth and still he makes the craziest stuff among them all producers... Really interesting...
When I first listened to Djrum, I assumed it was pronounced like "drum", but at some point I think I heard him referred to as "DJ Rum" and I was kind of bummed, so I felt real vindicated to hear him affirm that it _is_ pronounced Djrum, haha. I've been more and more appreciative of his music over the past 4-5 years, I think, and more and more I consider him one of my favorites.
Djrum is miles ahead of everyone else.
its not even about just linear 'ahead' - he's on another entirely different spectrum
100%%%%%
Djrum, skee mask, and aphex are crazy
Add Paul Woolford (Special Request) to that list
@@DelFloMinor Science too.
When is this guy releasing more music. Man, his stuff is honestly up there with the best electronic music there's been. Need him back ASAP.
he's back
New Single release "Codex" is out and it's amazing
New record out now!!
God amongst men, best DJ/producer by FAR in my opinion. Insane creativity and vinyl skills that most modern electronic music DJs don't have these days

Closing dekmantel in a few weeks. Cannot wait
Where you at DTRH? That set was insane

You can tell you are a dude full of kidness. We have such a similar musical taste too. I'm a big fan of your work Djrum.
One of the best artists of our time
Thoroughly agree
bro's musical knowledge is straight up ethereal
Once I saw him perform, my life changed, truly legendary
Wonderful stuff. Could imagine how inspiring it would be to hang out with Djrum

I was privileged enough to support this guy back in 2019. He signed my copy of St. Martin! Absolute legend and super humble/down-to-earth dude.
This guy is my absolute idol. He has the Midas touch, what a legend. That Conforce tune at 170 sounds m i n t

Absolutely wonderful listening to DJRUM talk and run some of his records. He can do no wrong.
It's lovely to see the guy whose album is the most valuable (both in price and personal value) in my collection be giddy about his collection.
This is brilliant. Listening to him talk is making me love music again.

Felix is the best and most talented DJ in the world. Spread the word!

Just love everything about this guy. The real top G

Lovely stuff, feeling inspired now. I'm off into the studio to sample some vinyl x
This is exactly what it means to be a DJ. Living legend.

YEA BOI new stuff from our lad Djrum

when seeing him on TH-cam, it feels that I can dj and make music like he does. when sitting before my studio, I see that I don’t for I don’t…
