I am honestly really grateful for you sharing your home renovation journey and the „mistakes“ you have made/the things you simply only realize when using something daily, like the size and width of the dining table. And the reason why is because I can learn from it and consider things I hadn’t thought of before purchasing/planning things. So thank you so much for being open and honest, it is very much appreciated! Also I am SO excited to see the new kitchen! I’m pretty sure I am going to love it because I just love your „new style“/the more country-ish style 😍
That's what I was wondering. Every night before bed I fill a pitcher up with water from our filter, and place it in the fridge so it's cold in the morning, refilling throughout the day as needed. She could get some "bougie" pitcher to use, and not waste a perfectly good marble countertop.
Rich people wasting resources just because they can should be fined or they should pay some extra taxes. What a waste of a wonderful and expensive marble counter top! Marble is a natural resource and not endless! Wish peope would see that but nouveau riche don't care...
FYI, I know brass is really on trend right now but key word is “trend!” I’m much older than you and I remember the last time brass and gold came back in style and then quickly went out. It has been out of style for quite sometime now. When it went out anything that had brass and gold hardware looked awful! Its been so many years now it’s pretty much been taken out of everyone’s homes but it’s now making its go around again. I know it’s hard to imagine but as the style changes you will hate the brass/gold when it goes out again. Just beware of doing such a strong trend. Staying classic is best.
I think the same with black fittings which are very popular too. Chrome or brushed chrome is the best for a classic look and offers longevity for those of us that don’t want to renovate very often.
I’m absolutely giddy with excitement for the new kitchen. After the study, I can’t even imagine how stunning this update is going to be! THEN, we also get to look forward to seeing other rooms transform too. Almost like a home update advent calendar surprise? Congratulations on finding the design team to suit your needs. I’ve lost family members due to High Blood Pressure! It’s nothing to mess around with! It’s Not a laughing matter! We lost my younger brother day before Thanksgiving, he’d just checked his pressure in front of my mom 4 days before Thanksgiving it was over 200, my mom offered to take him to the hospital, he said no, that he had an appt coming up, 4 days later he passed away 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 it was very sudden, as we didn’t know he wasn’t feeling well, until about a week prior, my sis in law sister sudden, she wasn’t taking her high blood pressure meds, my son’s uncle on his dad’s side, sudden one day he was at work passed out, he was airlifted to a larger hospital didn’t make it...I don’t mean to be doom and gloom just letting you know HBP can be dangerous.
HI, are you doing anything to the kitchen cabinets, I often wondered why they do not go all the way to the ceiling but have a gap that gives a shadow that seems odd?
I also find it strange that she’s kept the hinges on the doors. It makes the kitchen look cheap and basic IMO. Expensive kitchens and country style ones especially, tend to have concealed hinges. It’s not like she doesn’t have the money 🤔.
Just always remember, when it comes to writing, there’s no such thing as “how long it should take” to write something. Some days it’ll come to you, some days it doesn’t. Just keep stepping up to the pen until the day that it comes, and then it’ll be grand ♥️♥️♥️
Instead of filling in the hole on the sink. What about an extendable hose with similar plating for when you want to just clean a dish or something and not make a filtered drink?
I was thinking the same, one with a spray to rinse the muck off those garden vegetables or gently from herbs... or plates, as you say. A soap dispenser would be rubbish as a pain in the bum to refill from under the sink and they clog/break quite easily.
My partner started wearing a plate for grinding his teeth and split both sides of his lips as well! Tried to heal it with moisturising creams for months before going to the dentist who said it was common for people who wear plates at night - it’s a fungal infection was easily healed in a few days once he used an anti-fungal cream. If it doesn’t clear up I’d definitely recommend seeing your dentist :)
You’re the first comment I’ve read to get it correct. It is a fungus and will clear up in 1 day with an anti-fungal cream. Using anything else just makes it worse.
I’ve been enjoying your home focus so much! So glad to see colors are warming-up, so cozy. The kitchen is going to be fabulous! Very excited to see the greenhouse too! I keep thinking about the solar candles you’ve planned for the greenhouse at night and how beautiful that will be!

I have blood pressure as well. Decrease your salt intake, you’d be surprised how much salt is in things... even in water! Can’t wait until the kitchen is finished. I love how you show us the between stages, real life instead of the “ tada”!
Removing that kitchen door is simply genius. Too many doors in England, too few doors in America. Need the perfect balance for optimal light and sight lines.
Love her home. Only thing I wonder why the cabinets don’t go all the way to the ceiling. Is that UK design practice? In North America custom cabinets go to the ceiling without any space
I’m from the UK but always wonder this too. Her wardrobes are the same. It’s not normal practise and also you wouldn’t usually see the hinges on kitchen cupboards/cabinets if they were expensive and especially in country houses. Traditionally you would use concealed hinges so she can redecorate the kitchen 20 times but those hinges will always hurt my eyes.
There are diff sizes. With my parents kitchen from the 80’s the cupboards had space at the top but with their new kitchen in 2008, they were taller and I’ve seen others all the way touching the ceiling. It all depends on the height of the room x
I am already soooo excited to see the new changes in the house!!! Your house looks perfect but somehow you always manage to make it look even better!! Lots of love from switzerland!
I’m not a professional writer, but do write regularly for personal use and I have severe dyslexia. I unfortunately take quite a long time because of this, however I’ve started using dictation apps to help speed up the process, and or make an outline of intro, paragraph subjects, and conclusion. Dyslexia in general just effects ones formulation of words differently including in speech and reading.
I think a brass coloured tap will look much warmer especially if you are having brass antique handles and knobs. It's going to be a dream kitchen and I'm loving the excitement you share with us in seeing its transformation, and how amazing it will look when completed 💖
I’m a PhD scientist. I do a lot of writing but much of it is science and data based. I think anyone who writes on a regular basis would tell you the more you write the easier it becomes because you find what works for you. I still find writing to be difficult at times, but I carve out scheduled time for myself when I know my mind is most productive. For me, that’s in the morning after a workout, a good cup of coffee, and I have a moment to myself. Scheduling time for writing is a great way to stick with it, even if it’s you writing down ideas or unpolished material. I also think it’s helpful to just chuck down your thoughts and proof read later. You can always clean it up but it’s easy to lose motivation or an idea. Good luck. May the writing force be with you!!!

I love the different style your implementing throughout your home. It’s astounding how many people comment saying you shouldn’t be changing it so soon. Let’s face it, if they had the budget to do it, they would too. It might be a ‘pandemic’ but the positives that have come out of that have meant that we’ve saved so much money from no holidays or going out we can afford to do things on the house, the house we’ve spent a year solid staring at constantly! For my sanity I need to change it up so I’m happy for you! Honestly, you are such an inspiration, I’ve followed you for 5 years and feel like I’ve been growing up through my twenties with you. Hi Lydia. As a writer (covering fiction, blogs and magazine articles) who has also ran a collaborative writing event for a decade, I thought I’d chip in and answer your question on “how long does writing an article take?” Of course, there’s no *right* answer - take as long as you like to be happy with the output - but I’m happy if I produce 1,800 to 2,400 well-crafted words in a day that I’m happy to publish. So, a 500-600 word article might take two hours depending on how well-formed the idea for the article is in my mind when I sit down at the computer. #KeepWriting #MotivationMonday
Thank you for this comment @Novel in a Day, great TH-cam channel name too. I also have Grammarly installed on my computer, I thought my diction was near perfect, I like how it catches small things I missed every now and then
I love your kitchen like it is! I have a galley kitchen so anytime you don’t have to leave the room to turn around, I am all for it! Happy you are able to get what you want!
I love following your home renovations! In my own life I try not to replace perfectly suitable furniture/appliances unless they're broken and beyond repair (for sustainability purposes), however I really appreciate your in-depth background on why you make the changes you do. For example, your explanation of why the table doesn't work (too narrow to have a dressed table + space for folks to dine on either side) gives me some great considerations for what I need to look for when I buy a dining table for myself! I don't know if I would have considered that, had I not heard your analysis. I appreciate your thoroughness and careful intention!
With that all said (and no judgement), I would still encourage you + anyone else to try and buy thrifted/vintage/antique furniture when doing home updates to avoid creating excess waste, whenever possible. :) It reduces the cycle of production and resources, and gives more life to special antique pieces!
Be aware if you go antique, traditional refectory tables can come up a bit too narrow to deal with today’s large dinner plates. You can find your plate almost touching the plate of the person sitting opposite you and definitely no room for serving bowls etc. On the plus side, the quality will likely be far superior to anything available today.
I put dishwashing liquid in the built-in pump - I dislike taking out or having out the dishwashing liquid bottle. It is so convenient to just have the dishwashing liquid in the built-in pump and then having lovely bottles, like the ones you have, of handwashing liquid soap and hand lotion on the counter,

Hi Lydia, I’m a dental nurse and it’s possible the soreness on the corners of your mouth could be Angular Cheilitis, this is common for denture wearers as they cause saliva to pool in the corners of the mouth, it could be that your Invisalign is doing this to you! If it doesn’t go away, you may need to speak to your GP to be prescribed some anti fungal / steroid cream to help it heal. In the future, applying lip balm before you go to sleep may help prevent it happening again! It could also be a sign you are deficient in vitamin b12, folic acid or iron. Hope this helps ☺️
I was hospitalized for HBP last year. 255/164. On meds now so it's under control.Doctors still can't figure out why it was so high, but they say I'm lucky to be alive.
When I look at your kitchen it excites me. I use to reno my home all the time. Last year was the only year I didn't and I'm sad. I can't wait to see your kitchen.
hello! its called 'angular chelitis' and its caused by fungus so miconazole cream will help it go away. It is likely caused by your invisalign trays. They increase the pooling of saliva at the corner of your lips and allows natural fungus from your saliva to cause cuts and redness there. It is really common but v sore! whoever is doing your invisalign would be able to prescribe you miconazole no problem.

Lydia, it’s going to look amazing. So nice to see you smile. I can imagine you would like a farmhouse sink in the kitchen as well, which is achievable if you change the countertops.xxx
The kitchen is going to be so gorgeous! With living spaces I fully believe that they're supposed to bring you feelings of joy and comfort. If there's something you want to change, something that doesn't bring you joy and comfort, change it! It's the same with gardens, wardrobes, etc. If it doesn't bring you joy, get rid of it and replace it with something that does, if you are able to. People complaining that you have too much money to be renovating are first of all incredibly rude? But also, why shouldn't you? It's your house and your money, you're keeping the cash flowing in your area and people working and as a result will have an amazing space to share with and inspire us all.
But if she did a classic kitchen when wouldn’t be able to remodel it in a year lol
I think the same with black fittings which are very popular too. Chrome or brushed chrome is the best for a classic look and offers longevity for those of us that don’t want to renovate very often.
@@ilariamasullo3353 well yeah gotta have a hobby. Lol
Yes, are the hinges going to be left as is (stainless steel) with aged brass handles? Awkward.
@@AnUrbanGypsy Oh yes! I didn't even think of the veggies!
Thank you so much for this video, Porter and Lumi are absolutely adorable, it's sooo great to have Porter in your family, truly!!!!!! That was so fun and exciting to see all the changes in your kitchen area and your new pillows!!!!! The fragrances sound dreamy!!!!! It's wonderful to see how excited you are Lydia!!!!!!
I have blood pressure as well. Decrease your salt intake, you’d be surprised how much salt is in things... even in water! Can’t wait until the kitchen is finished. I love how you show us the between stages, real life instead of the “ tada”!
I use aquaphor for the split corners of my lips when it’s too cold out, it works well!
Yes, I was thinking the same - Aquaphor or even Vaseline - use it at night if you don't want to use it during the day.
L-Lysene will work for the lips.
You are very sympathetic but it seems that nothing satisfies you .How many times you have destroyed this kitchen!
Didn’t they just repaint those cabinets ...the end result will be beautiful, just wondered
yes
@@TheCarrie125 on the left next to the dining area. Her husband took an apple I believe from the fridge just before she mentioned his high BP
I am already soooo excited to see the new changes in the house!!! Your house looks perfect but somehow you always manage to make it look even better!! Lots of love from switzerland!
Um, there's no such thing as perfect... Why do you think Lydia keeps changing it? 🤓
What does a Phd scientist gain from this vlog? What do we all gain from it? Im addicted to it...but I cant workout why?
@@MiddleAgedMinx I gain what everyone else gains. I enjoy Lydia’s content!!! ❤️. Just because someone has a degree of some sort doesn’t mean they can’t love fashion, makeup, home renovations, and some good laughs!!!
I love that you’ve been changing your previous very modern taste to now english country antique Provence which is much more my style. Love to see the personality of where you live come through in your design
I love that too. It really is timeless.
Great comment!
I love watching you transform your home! The design, construction and styling is just so fun to watch 🖤
Ok I’m obsessed with the paneling on the ceiling! I cant wait to see how it looks when its painted, I think the wood has even helped with some of the echo in the dining area as well.
For the kitchen sink I have a soap pump and fill it with my dish washing soap and love it!
Good writers are good editors. This means that we should write our first drafts freely with no judgement or self-doubt... and then edit it. Remember: create a mess and then clean it up. Writing is a messy process but very enriching and healing 💕❤️🎈
This is so beautifully put thank you for sharing x
Wow! I write fiction and I need to remember this. I am a constant perfectionist and it takes me forever to get through a chapter because of this.

Always a pleasure to watch! ♥️
Hi Lydia. As a writer (covering fiction, blogs and magazine articles) who has also ran a collaborative writing event for a decade, I thought I’d chip in and answer your question on “how long does writing an article take?”
Of course, there’s no *right* answer - take as long as you like to be happy with the output - but I’m happy if I produce 1,800 to 2,400 well-crafted words in a day that I’m happy to publish. So, a 500-600 word article might take two hours depending on how well-formed the idea for the article is in my mind when I sit down at the computer.

Was that click bait or are they really moving out?
They’re just moving out of the kitchen whilst it’s being renovated 🙂
Clearly click bait - again!

I put dishwashing liquid in the built-in pump - I dislike taking out or having out the dishwashing liquid bottle. It is so convenient to just have the dishwashing liquid in the built-in pump and then having lovely bottles, like the ones you have, of handwashing liquid soap and hand lotion on the counter,
Your healthy morning routine popped up on my home page a few days ago and I rewatched (about 3 or 4 years old?!) I wonder if you could do an updated version of this? ☺️☺️

Plus, you seem much lighter in spirit which makes me very happy to see. Thank you for letting us join you on this journey...it is so much fun to watch xx
Washing up liquid is a good idea, and you can also fill up the container with cleaning solution for the countertops.
Am I the only one who proper gets their dinner ready and all snug on their couch to watch Lydia's vlog? Like literally my one of my favourite times of the week!
Also for me writing a blog piece/article, it depends on what I'm writing about. For my personal blog, it would only take me a couple hours plus any research. In my day job (tech) it can take me a week to get something completed and right! 😂
@Eva MV haha fair enough. For me, it's my evening treat 😂
Lydia, you are such a talented and dear young lady. I bet you are a very gifted writer. Don’t put yourself down ever. You share so much joy. I admire you very much for all your accomplishments. When people write ugly comments like you have discussed in the past, you should realize that those people are the ones with problems and just pass them by.

I really don't understand why people think that's such a bad thing.
