Proud Alaskan here! Doing a beginning of year mile run FAI/MIA for $340RT and was just denied lounge access at Miami AA Admiral Club. I made sure it was not Flagship or Premiere lounge, the new change is for access to the Admiral Club I presented everything they asked me for and showed them the access policy on AA website that states ALL domestic and international flights on One World flights are allowed access now...and was still denied 😆 My lowly status of MVP Gold, One World Sapphire and my Alaska lounge Pass just wasn't enough to break her stubbornness. I politely informed her that 2025 has and is bringing lots of fun changes to One World with the Alaska airlines and Hawaiian airlines merger.
46:44 BA also has four tiers if you include GGL which does get you into the Concorde Room. Not that the Concorde Room is that much better than the F lounge tbh, just less crowded

Informative, thank you. As Gold, I flew BA for the first time today since the news broke. As I went through the First Wing, I felt like I was losing an old friend. I’ll likely make Silver in 2026 after my last year of Gold but still trying to process that I now have a choice of who I fly with. However, as much as they’re criticised, I’d rather fly BA than most other European or American carriers.
Agreed. It really made the pod difficult to listen to. Allowing each other to finish a thought or point helps with the flow of things. I know this happens in everyday conversation but its a skill you need to hone when doing a podcast.
Does anyone here have any ideas for a new frequent flyer program Oneworld or elsewhere. I typically fly monthly in premium econnomy to the US my home airport is DUB. BA is currently my most lown airline but that can change now.
If im spending $7500 r/t from JFK to HND business, I'm definitely going JAL. BA can eat 💩 as their service doesnt compare. All my cap1 points are Asian or Middle Eastern now. Spending $10k/month on a CC is undoable for 95% of 🇺🇸
I’m listening on the tube on the way to work nodding like anything to the BA discourse. People need to get a grip. There is no entitlement to status. The only commitment airlines have to passengers is to get you and your luggage to your destination safely and to offer a courteous service. Get the status if it’s important to you, but just be rational about it.
Speaking of irrational behavior related to travel and points, can I hear everyone else’s, including yours, Dan and Alex?! I’ll go first. Next month I need to go to Guangzhou from Minneapolis and back. How? MSP-DFW-DOH-CAN-TPE-BKK-AMS-ORD-MSP 😂 The return alone will take 96 hours (by design) and include a 4-hour bike ride, a 3-star restaurant, 2 airport hotels plus a capsule, and a night market. The really bad part is possibly being stranded in ORD for 6 hours without a lounge.
