I really recommend watching "The breathtaking world of One Piece" by "Strawhat V" it's a beautiful video with no spoilers for the story, but it shows how great the worldbuilding is. It is genuinly the best worldbuilding in any fictional story ever.

Oda has said multiple times that the One Piece is a real physical thing. He knew how the story would end before he started drawing the first chapter.

When the opening "We Are" play again at the end, it's One Piece celebrating 1000 episodes, so they remade the classic intro, but with the characters at the point where they are now after 1000 episodes, not just the beginning. Even the strongest man cry.

Openings 13 and 14 brings back tearful memories. Not all crews are looking for One Piece and yeah there are some pirates who aren't exactly bad and there are some who are bad and who will do some fucked up stuff. You seen the blood, so I'm gonna let you know this anime can go to some dark places and some serious subject matter.

oda's character design process is quite fascinating really. sometimes hell churn out nine new characters in a single week, and sometimes he'll spend years, more than a decade even, changing and perfecting a character before they finally appear in the series. and for the ones he spends longer on, you can sometimes come across where he has allowed his notebooks to be shown to the public, and its fascinating and hilarious. hell produce a perfectly functional initial design, then go "not weird enough" and change it and change it until you end up with what you see in the series. the initial design for chopper (the transforming, cute reindeer) was a middle aged looking stripy reindeer with a cigarette...
