It does my heart so good to know that these beautiful people are thriving and growing...overcoming the dark part of their history! I love the American Indians! It is a wonderful thing!! ❤🔥🦅🐢
My son is half Colorado Cheyenne, but his father abandon him because I'm not native American. So I taught my sin what I could, but over all he needs his nation to help him
So that young man just said he is the first of five generations that cannot speak and write his native language I believe he said ute anyways I find this extremely interesting because historically the American government took these natives as young children and put them in schools and force them to not speak their language we try for generations to get them to quit speaking their language and they kept it alive now that the US government no longer does that these young natives are choosing to not speak their language on their own that is amazing and crazy to me
Is it really a choice though if only a few speakers are in the community to teach the language? There are an increasing number of programs on reservations to introduce bilingual programs that include traditional languages, but because of what the Federal government did with boarding schools, there are very few speakers left. Not to mention there's a lot of discrimination outside of the communities against non English speakers and a lot of social pressure to never use their language. What's worse is that Covid-19 hit the Indigenous communities extra hard and a lot of elder were lost. It's far more complex then just a choice to not use/learn the language I think.

I'm staying here and trying to learn the history. I love you all.
This is a great video. We need to learn more about Native Americans and value them.

I have a birth grandfather who was Ute Indian but since I’m adopted I know nothing of the culture. Thank you for videos like this
It was a great project to be a part of and so important for history.
Don't lose your language. The people of Wales were determined to keep theirs even though the British government tried to abolish it.
THANK YOU..
wonderful video, thank you!
Thank you!
I love this, and I want more.
