Hey Liz, the black bird is a Cormorant. It is usually found along the shore. It dives into and swims under the water for fish and eels. To dive and swim under water, it has evolved smaller more streamlined wings (better for use under water) than similarly sized waterfowl. Smaller more streamlined wings make flying a lot more difficult and requires far more energy. While cormorants can fly with wet wings in an emergency, they prefer to dry them first it is more difficult. Cormorants can be commonly seen, along the shore, standing in that pose while drying their wings. 🤓
This is also seen in many types of birds its also called sunning and you can see non water birds do it in the morning to get the drew off and warm up. Birds are super! Love me some freshbaked!
Remember when Merlin used to come out with an entourage and pick people to try the sword? Grown ups could never be king... but always some adorable kid would pull out the sword and they'd parade him around with a crown. Super cool! I wish they still did that. 😊
I love these tours. I didn't even know about the Castle Holiday Shoppe or Arial's Grotto or the fact that the House of the Future was located there. What fun!
Love the tea cup music, makes my heart 10 times larger! Never noticed the skulls on snow whites scary adventure. I have never gone into some of those fantasyland shops. Fantasyland “B” is like overflow. Not the whale 🐳😭
That queue area for small world used to also have the princess meet and greet there too. I have a few pictures of us in line and my daughter with a few of the princess back in like 2013-2014ish

I love the bunny ear mirrors in the Mad Hatter shop! That's one of those cute little theme-specific details that people probably pay no attention to when they are rushing around. I also love the themed weather vanes in Fantasyland (and in a few other places too, including Toontown). Disney will make some changes here and there over the years -- some will be minor and some will be major -- but they're not going to change *everything.* I think some guests get carried away with wanting Disneyland to just change things whenever they, personally, outgrow or get bored with them, but that's not how it works. Some things will stay as is -- or almost the same as they were decades ago -- for a long, long time, and many new visitors and children will love them.
Just no to getting rid of Storybook Land. Just the idea makes me sad! I think that would break my heart. If they're going to mess with anything, Tomorrowland seems to be the best option. I feel like there is a lot they could do to spruce it up (still love it, but it feels less cohesive than other areas). Also: Thanks for a peek in the castle store, I don't know if I've ever been in there, and now I've got a list of some seriously cute ornaments I need to snag on our next trip!
I think Disney should build a Small World themed restaurant in the area between Matterhorn and Small World. The food there would be the same kind of food you find at Epcot. I think that would be cool. Fantasyland Theater can go. I’d be okay with that. You could easily fit a new dark ride there. But I want all the existing Fantasyland rides to stay.
I wish they would bring back the Sword in the Stone show. They picked me when I was there for my Honeymoon. It was so much fun..I mean the show was fun. So was the honeymoon, but I meant the show.

Blown Away by THE RAVEN-OVER-THE-SKULL GARGOYLES over Snow White's entrance! Never seen those before. Today's Walk was even better than yesterday's. Catching the beauty everywhere in wide sweeps of the camera so enjoyable for loving eyes. Fantasyland so gorgeous and could somehow feel the Bliss in the vibe. Started for the first time to notice The Children in the place and imagining their experience! Seeing some of their genuine moments of dancing ecstasy. Look at the little girl with the dark hair running before you at minute 26! The pure divine jewel of the post. Happy you took in the Dark Ride too. Perfect Balance! Perhaps even better if longer shots in there and less view time in the shops? Your Evolution is appreciated Fresh Baked! HEY! Please do one with CASEY JR'S CIRCUS TRAIN!
I posted on the muffin page about how they can convert Tomorrowland into an expansion of Fantasyland or an area for princesses. Especially with the addition of Galaxy's Edge, I think Tomorrowland has run it's course.
While I definitely hope they leave a bunch of the classic attractions and parts of Fantasyland, if they do make changes, well then we all just have to roll with it. Things are always updating and changing around, and that doesn't always mean it's bad. It could be great changes for all we know! As Rafiki and Simba said; Change is good, but it's not easy.

It was not only made for parade viewing, but it was made just for Disneyland's Street-tacular show, called light magic back in 1997. I've read that it was a combination between a parade and Broadway show put together, it was a show where the story is about Tinkerbell and Enchanted Peaks he's coming to Disneyland waking up Mickey Mouse and the other characters. And celebrating the night together. They were two shows for both Main Street and it's a small world area, light magic was supposed to replace the Main Street Electrical Parade at the time. However the show was receive with mixed reviews, and at the same time some other people didn't expect a parade Broadway show to replace the Main Street Electrical Parade the original and beloved. I believe people expected light magic to be like the Main Street Electrical Parade, a new parade with lights. Like the other light up parades Spectromagic (Magic Kingdom Walt Disney World), Fantaillusion (originated at Tokyo Disneyland now at Disneyland Paris of Euro Disney Resort) and of course paint the night. So some people in 1997 got disappointed that light magic was not a light-up parade, anyway the parade Broadway show was received with mixed reviews. And those towers that you see in the parade view area, originally meant for light magic. Those Towers were control boots, to operate the lighting effect and probably the music. As you walk past the Matterhorn on the way to Alice's, you pass one of my favorite restrooms in the park. For some reason, it usually seemed to be less crowded than the others. Liz's Alice impression was great! ...Except that her "please" was more Roger Rabbit. ^_^ Sigh... The Mad Hatter shop used to be so much more. Back in the day, it sold hats, and one of them was a top hat that I always wanted, but never did get. How freaking adorable is it that Liz still gets giggly over her married name?! v ^_^ v King Arthur as a girl has been done, and the series it happens in is very popular. The idea in the story is that her name was Arturia, but she passed herself off as a man and used the masculine form of her name to be taken seriously. In the area where the holiday shop is now, there used to be a shop that sold things with your family crest printed or sewn on them, and the original site of the Mad Hatter hat shop. That viewing area near Small World is something that was built after I left California. It's a lot more interesting than the absolute nothing but blacktop that was there before. The bird with its wings spread was sunning, probably to dry its feathers after being in the water. But it can also be to help spread preening oil on the feathers, or to get rid of bugs. Getting rid of what's left of the motorboat lake probably makes sense. But I'd be sad to see it go since I remember that ride fondly.
Disney may not be known for their donuts. However, that Main Street coffee place near the hub runs out of donuts early. And I feel like you dissed the Matterhorn a bit.
It'd be cool to see something done like a princess focused extension of fantasy land..like Repunzel's tower, the Snuggly Duckling food/beverage service, and specifically designed meet and greet areas.
I hope they don’t take anything out of Fantasyland! It’s so great!! I think the day you went, was a less populated day? When my mom and I went at the beginning of March, Pinocchio and Snow White were 20-30 min waits still! So I hope they don’t go anywhere.

Fantasyland is wonderful. Nothing SHOULD change, but I have a feeling they may change it all like in FL. I think they may take out my favorite Alice and the teacups. Move them somewhere else. Reposition that large area into a more open space and really open up the area. All the parts are great, but they need to work on a better flow. A much wider round flow all the way back into Toontown.
We saw you on Saturday (our first time visiting on a Saturday) while you were filming but were too embarrassed to go up and say hi. It was fun to see you both in person from afar. :)

Don't worry fresh baked, there is no possible way to put the beauty and the beast attraction there. The beauty and the beast castle is as big as that entire front building and the show building is like a mini battle escape, they would have to bulldoze the entire sleeping beauty castle to fit it and you would see the show building down main street 😂💀

Love Fantasyland 1983. Its true to Walt's original vision! I will say, something cool we lost with the current iteration is Skull Rock and the Pirate Ship. My dream would be: 1) Demolish the Fantasyland Theatre- B and the B castle/courtyard/ride in its place. Entrance through old skyway. 2) Rebuild theatre in the old motorboat/gummi glen location, still a part of Fantasyland. Open a new quality show. Daniel Gomez the opening night of light magic was broadcast on tv which I watched with high hopes. It was terribly disappointing in my opinion.

Love Fantasyland 1983. Its true to Walt's original vision! I will say, something cool we lost with the current iteration is Skull Rock and the Pirate Ship.
My dream would be: 1) Demolish the Fantasyland Theatre- B and the B castle/courtyard/ride in its place. Entrance through old skyway. 2) Rebuild theatre in the old motorboat/gummi glen location, still a part of Fantasyland. Open a new quality show.
