I did this dance as a teenager here in Stockton California USA 🇺🇸🇵🇭! I am now 71 😂! I performed it with a childhood friend and we never dropped our lit candles! I wish I could still do this dance😊
We really need to take note from the Pacific Islanders & continue to embrace our dancing culture . I wish tinikling & the candle dance needs to be taught during elementary
What do you mean take note from Pacific Islanders? Candle dance is southeast Asian dance originally came from Indonesia while tinkling came for north east India. Anyway these dances are being taught in school PE class,
i used to do the candle dance in grade 4 with a partner it was not fun the other kids almost got burned but the dance was easy atleast i loved doing it 🕯
Yes, a thought i wish more Midwesterners here in Chicagoland and beyond would feel our kultura. To not just have rhythm but be smooth and graceful with your actions and the way you move
Haha. Tsk. nakakamis. Now I'm 27 and I rarely see student's performing this.
When I was young and danced the Candle Dance, I didn't think much of it. Now I am older I hope to dance this at my wedding. Thanks for uploading such a great video, the steps are coming back to me now.
@@aleihs19 but that's no longer the foreigner's faults. It's the Filipinos who uphold said mentality. Please stop blaming others for our problems they are our own fault.
@@aleihs19 I am. But I get fed up with people blaming foreigners all the time. Like in my class we were asked what was the cause for poverty most people answered colonialism. I answered lack of jobs and education so that people have to go abroad. I did read what you said and I did comprehend it. But saying colonial mentality it means blaming the one's who brought it here. It should no longer be called that it should be called Filipino mentality at this point.

ASAP. :D

Actually at the end of the dance the dancers are supposed to pick that candle glass from her head and hold it together with the previous 2 candle glasses on their hands, to show to the public that it is not "pinned" or held down by a velcro .

Have the traditional costumes always been so 80s style? With the big shoulders pads/ design?
Just curious...

+Masha Those are "butterfly sleeves" and are a principal feature of a traditional dress called "terno," which evolved out of the Maria Clara gown and "baro at saya." Those in the video look costumey (though they are nice costumes), because they were made for that purpose. If you google "terno dress" you will find more elegantly-made ternos that may be used in formal gatherings.

This is my first time seeing what the filipino candle dance actually looks like. I only decided to search it because one of my friends can do half of it ( funny and not professional dancing lol).

+Masha No. It's earlier than that. LOL.... It's what distinguishes the Filipina dress from others. It's a characteristic that identifies our nationality. It's very classic.

What is the SONG? I have been searching everywhere!
The song is Pandanggo sa Ilaw.
@@tessmack4916 Legend says Christina Alyssa, after 7 years, hasn’t figured out what song this is.
ASAP. :D
WoWwWwWwW
Btw don’t ask me if I’m an American or I’m half Filipino and America u-u
I wrong move or youll lose your hair
Hahahaha one is cheating ... the first lady in pink watch when her head well tilt on the side and the glass is still on her head lol....velcro maybe on a pin but it is so obvious. The glass should have fallen down if there is nothing stuck to it on her head.
Actually at the end of the dance the dancers are supposed to pick that candle glass from her head and hold it together with the previous 2 candle glasses on their hands, to show to the public that it is not "pinned" or held down by a velcro .
What is the nam of the song you used?
What Tittle of song???
what did you use on your heads to hold the candles?
Who me
They balance the candle on their hands
What Tittle of song???

When I was young and danced the Candle Dance, I didn't think much of it. Now I am older I hope to dance this at my wedding. Thanks for uploading such a great video, the steps are coming back to me now.

I wonder how many other dancers did cheat. One has something wrap around her glass too on top of her head. Well we danced this with no cheat!!!!

Hello
...
it is similar to mexican dance
Dorito Minendres its Filipino dance pandango sa ilaw how its similar Mexican dance?Im not mad I'm just question that what is the step on them :) but great if we all have same steps ;)
I’ve done this so many times and I hate it lmao
Minecraft
I like tinikiling better
whats
Thanks to spain, we filipinos learn a lot from them
you won’t find anything like this in spain tbh
its all wrong they dont hold the glass open palm only
eric weinstein brought me here
This is not authentic Filipino folk dancing. You should not mix Pandanggo sa Ilaw and Binasuan. Binasuan is danced with liquid in the glass.
hahah bobo
Eww
What Tittle of song???
