Thank you, Dave! Combining less-known and under-appreciated composers with the canon of famous names is a real service to music. This is the way all classical music fans and practitioners should think.
I’d like to take the opportunity to thank you for some other things you do which aren’t always mentioned.
    1. You have created an excellently curated comments section which is a pleasure to read. This is a rarity.
    2. This is possible because of your generous involvement with your commenting listeners.
    3. You have a genuine point of view and highly informed opinions which you aren’t afraid to share. Too many are cordoned in by an unnecessary level of politeness. We listen to critics for criticism. We listen to you for your genuine enthusiasm or horror as the case may warrant.

Yes, enthusiasm or horror! For that thankfully Mr. Hurwitz may be depended upon.

I love guessing the piece as soon as I see the vid listed. I’m at about 80%… I thought Tout un monde lointain at first but thought Metaboles at the last sec. You’re right though, could almost be any of his mature works. Seeing Metaboles with Deneve on Saturday - this is getting me in the mood! You’ve got the Dukas and Dutilleux, ready for d’Indy. Going the predictable route?

Métaboles, a great recording by Charles Munch

Very difficult for me to choose just one work by him, maybe the Second Symphony, or one of the two concertos, Correspondances, the Shadows of Time, the list goes on. Metaboles is as great as any of them. As you say, Dutilleux himself should be saved by the evil god!

I've never heard of him. I'll have to give this a listen.

*Metaboles* comes under the heading of works that are too good to be true. It seems to have been written by a sorcerer or magician, rather than a mere mortal. I own every single commercial recording. The best might be with Rostropovich conducting on Erato. *L’abre des songes* is an even greater work wherein Dutillleux conjures the secrets of the universe. Really.
