Even in clever disguise, that couldn't be Daniele Gatti. Kwame Ryan is from Trinidad and a citizen of Canada. In the past he has been director of some regional French orchestras.
Wonderful performance of a great piece. George Szell's premiere performance with the Cleveland in 1965 is superb, and perhaps more subtle, but this one sounds like one unbroken line. The metrics are odd but perfect. Perhaps Dutilleux was coming to terms with the sense of space and color in works like those of the late great American composer Earle Brown which are also conceived in terms of contrasting weights.
This work is too good to be true. Utterly ingenious and original in every way.
Un immense compositeur !! Nicolas Foster
Dynamics are just perfect, touching performance, Kwame Ryan kept it togheter very well. Bravo
Maravilloso, Dutilleux!
Marvelous! Thank you!
Magistral !
Merci infiniment .
Pierrot
Terrific performance! Great conductor!
The Conductor is Kwame Ryan per the end credits. Great music video.

Magestic
wonderful....
Three-and-a-half years later, and you still haven't corrected the title or description? Give the actual conductor his due credit.
Hard to count the beats. Can someone give me a hint?
Ummm, that is totally NOT Daniele Gatti.

Quelqu'un je vous en prie: Corriger le titre.
Le labyrinthe où passent les anges
D’outilleur, Messiaen, Chostakovitch, Britten, ( Ligeti, Boulez)… qui d’autre pour le second XXe siècle?
Dutilleux, Mille pardons.
J’oublie l’immense Gubaïdulina!
