  • [This talk on "Science of Sound in Hinduism" by Dr. M. G. Prasad was recorded on August 17, 2019 at INTACH, New Delhi. Little did we know that Dr. M. G. Prasad would not live to see his talk live on TH-cam. He passed away on Nov 25, 2019. We at Srijan Foundation are deeply saddened by his passing away and dedicate this video as a tribute to his 'atman'].
    Science of sound generally refers to study of vibrations of air particles particularly in the audible frequencies. In Hinduism, the terms such as Naada and Shabda are used. However neither naada nor shabda can be translated directly as sound because Naada and Shabda refer to much more than vibrations of air particles. In RigVeda, a mantra gives the process of human speech in four stages of which the last stage is audible sound.
    This talk deals with various aspects of Naada and Shabda and their impact on various aspects such as speech, music and spirituality. The talk also discusses the relationship of naada and shabda to consciousness.
    About Speaker: -
    Dr. M.G. Prasad was Professor Emeritus at Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, New Jersey. He was a Fellow of four professional societies namely American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Institute of Noise Control Engineering, both Acoustical Societies of India and America.

    A very informative and Interesting topic. That our Religion has such astute personnel is a sign that Hinduism cannot be destroyed by any False Propoganda! It is a real loss that this Person is no more! However, I am certain that he has left a number of Students who will continue his noble work.

    Extremely knowledgeable speaker. This is easily one of the best Srijan talks. Imagine kids being taught this in a formal manner through school (as it used to be). What incredibly aware society we’ll have (again).

    What a beautiful explanations of why mankind is known to have been created in the image of God!! Thank you Dr. Prasad for uncovering the meaning behind those nuggets from Sanskrit!! This is not only for Hindus, or to Jains ...this is meant for the better ment of human race itself!! You are absolutely correct...when such wisdom is translated into English, it loses many of its original meaning and intent! Similar thing about Hebrew scriptures. There are many similarities of finding God within onself in both Sanskrit and also in Hebrew. It is simply Amzaing! You opened my inner eyes to see the world in a totally different way..for that I am eternally thankful to you!!

    At 15:00, when Shri M.G. Prasad shows the plot graph for Om, I realized that western science is based on binary logic (Greek logic) that is not capable to capture all the akara, ukara and mkara of the Om sound. We should build our own systems using our native school of logic. That will certainly help capture everything accurately.

    a new modern vedic education gurukul school systems should start and all this real knowledge should be taught to childrens and before that in nursery kids should learn yoga, meditation and how to improve concentration and built a good personality before sending them to modern vedic education gurukul school systems

    Outstanding presentation; filled with demos and scientific explanations on 'sound' as per vedas. Our Rishis have explained sound from the 1st principle, from para to vaikhri. I am proud to be born as a Hindu, even though waylaid by secularism for a long period until year 1999.

    This man is not of regular stature He deserves to be among legends
    Upon learning about his passing away 2019, it was overwhelming.
    Hope his direct and indirect students take up this approach and elaborate further for the masses like us.
    Not to hold anything against the speaker, and to clear records, our legendary CV Raman ( I am purposefully omitting ‘Sir’) made a slip, owing to British intellect - regarding the Aryan race stuff. As of this ‘enlightened’ generation let us pardon that slip.

    I am in US my son is autism was non verbal it was indian speech therapist in India who helped him in developing speech at age 8.5 yrs , Hindi , Sanskrit is Best language for speech and reading , now he can read too English he dint had to learn phonetics which is already imbedded in Hindi we just have to apply to other language . I am from Kerala I know Hindi too. In US normal kids have learning reading disability their own mother tongue

    Wonderful talk by Dr. MG Prasad. One thing I noticed that Dr. Prasad speaks Sanskrit fluently with superb pronunciation, but it not that fluent in English and I am sure certainly not in Hindi or Urdu. It is unfortunate that the Congress leaders put no focus on Sanskrit, whether written in any script. Of more importance is spoken Sanskrit!

      @@rajesh0506kumar आपने सत्य कहा पर हिंदी पहली बात तो अशुद्ध हो चुकी है। हम सब अशुद्ध हिंदी बोलते हैं क्योंकि कुछ शब्द तो उर्दू के हिंदी में जोड़ लिए गए बाकी हमने सीख लिए, अब हिंदी और उर्दू मिक्स्ड बोलते हैं हम सब......जो मेरा मानना है हिंदी के साथ "नाइंसाफी" है।
      हिंदी को शुद्ध बोलना आवश्यक है।
      दूसरी बात यह कि आज कल के सो कॉल्ड "एजुकेटेड मॉडर्न यूथ" अंग्रेज़ी बोलने में तो ऐसा अनुभव करते हैं जैसे कि वो कोई भाषा न होके आपके स्टेटस की पहचान हो😑
      और जहां बाकी सारे स्टेट्स अपनी निजी क्षेत्रीय भाषा को बोलने पर गर्व अनुभव करते हैं, अगर किसी हिंदी भाषी प्रदेश के "पढ़े लिखे लोगों" के आगे अगर शुद्ध हिंदी के शब्द बोल दो तो ऐसी "नज़रों" से देखते हैं जैसे क्या कर दिया जैसे कोई बहुत "अजीब" बात बोल दी......ऐसे लोगों से मुझे बहुत घृणा है😑
      मेरा मानना है आप इंग्लिश की वोकैबलरी अच्छी रखो साथ ही हिंदी की भी अच्छी रखो और हिंदी बोलने में लज्जा अनुभव न करो।🙏

    Adding on to *help him* in his explanation.. about sound and the conch (shankh) shell 🐚.

    Which shows that at a certain length and temperature, 432Hz ( Life ) is produced
    Okay, I'll try to be as accurate as possible. ( My previous writing were more correct)
    Note: *This observation took over 365 days to fully grasp.* ...so just take it at face value at first.
    432Hz: Every Sun has its own sound. Our *Sun is 432THz.* ( 430THz to 770Thz as the sun has many frequencies different hues of colour )
    Suprisingly, anything that hears this sound, *grows well* ( including humans).
    Our music scale was changed to 440Hz.
    Now, the Physics that i studied last sem....had the *Somerfield equation. 1/137*
    This is the *Somerfield constant off our electric universe.*
    Now, curiously enough, each World religion, has a *secret number* *embedded* in it.
    For the Jews it's 137, for the *Hindus it's 108* , the muslim s it's 786, and the Christians it's 144.
    These numbers appear on the *Pythagorean tuning table* , that lead up too *432Hz.*

    Now, from the *hemachandra-fibonnaci series* we have 1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34,55......the *golden ratio* is 55/34. ( Or any number in this special natural series divine d by the previous number) ....giving *1.618* .
    This series is found everywhere, from the lenght of *DNA* , to the *length ratios of the human body.*

    Now, the *Flower of Life* , is also linked to this. As the Flower of Life , an *ancient symbol* that appeared on the *Egyptain pyramids* has this _"laser"_ drawing on it. ( Reading i have also read about the same symbol in Poland....and it also appears in *India.* )
    By taking *sonic geometry* , or even drawing it via the vesica piscis ( two circles ) , this *sound can be represented in another way.*
    The final shape in 3D is something like the *kabala* . *Metatron* , the architect of *God*. ( Not Megatron)
    From here, we break this formed 3D shape, to get the *1st building block of matter* ( in ONLY this universe of C6 atoms. ...as it happens, out solar system of our sun, is also at a point of 1.618 ) ...and guess what, that's the point where Life is. Ie. Earth.
    So, we take this shape apart, and are left with the first building block, the master builder block which looks like
    a *4sided rice grain* of i think 48degrees triangle 🔺with 6degree slope . (...i worked it out, but i forgot now. ..it's on a page.)
    Would like to know more about anything in your fields that link up to this ratio 1.618( *Phi Φ* ) , or 1/1.618 or the effects off 432Hz on cells.

    No wonder such wonderful architect was done to mandirs. They were created in a true sense to awaken the soul with music and sounds. They were meant to be a place of peace. Now days the architect is lame and the preachings are false. Music and sounds is artificial. I have personally felt the difference in attending a vedic mandir compared to a modern mandir designed here in the west.

    Hinduism is the only religion (In fact culture) which is
    not book-based religion, books come into existence by 5000 years ago through
    meditation (Vedas, etc). Hindus main aim is enlightenment, Liberation, freedom
    from birth and death. In the Gita, God guides him (Arjuna) to enlightenment and
    righteousness (Dharma) not to stick to him. Hindus are seekers, not believers (
    like other religions).
    Hindus follow karma yoga (good actions). Meditation, Yoga
    (union with the divine), self-knowledge (who am I), penance, watching breath
    are primary to them and book/s are secondary to them. Other religions concept
    is one god exists but Hindus concept is the only god exists in everything and
    everywhere nothing else.
    Hindus say body and mind do not belong to you one day you
    have to leave them. Only your real self is yours find out that you ll be
    enlightened. Hindus say all living beings are divine. They say both waking
    state and sleep state are an illusion(Maya). Actual Hinduism is
    Sanatana Dharma means an Eternal Religion

    Dr. M.G. Prasad is a professor of mechanical engineering at
    Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, New Jersey. He is a Fellow of
    the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, a Fellow of the Acoustical
    Societies of America and India. He is a director in the board of directors
    of Hindu University of America, Orlando, Florida. He is a member of the
    advisory board of the office of religious life at Princeton University, New
    Jersey. He is a member of the advisory board of Educator’s Society for
    Heritage of India, New Jersey. He has written four books on Hinduism.
    He was the chairperson of the education committee and a former trustee
    of the Hindu Temple and Cultural Society, Bridgewater, New Jersey. He
    was the coordinator of the Hindu group at the inter-faith prayer during
    the 50th anniversary celebrations of United Nations in New York, in 1995.
    He has lectured on Hinduism at various places including universities
