Wow, that is a pretty horse for the kiddos. Right size. You could see Kierah really took to her immediately. That's awesome. Jeremy, you are doing an terrific job with that apartment/garage. I love that Melissa is always by your side helping you. That is wonderful that you two do everything together. I love your family so much. I enjoy watching how you two spend time with your children and are all very close. That is important. You will always have those kids around, coming back home to visit because that's what you two have taught them. The importance of a "Family." May God bless all of you always. Look so forward to your videos every Saturday. Beautiful horse and it will be great for the kiddos…right size and right temperament. You have totally thrown me now with your height…lol. I always pictured Jeremy as around 6’ and Melissa at 5’ 6” or 5’ 7”, now I have to remember you aren’t tall at all..lol. So funny how you can picture something on the tv screen but find out it’s nothing like you thought. 🤷‍♀️. Everything is looking great. You two work so well together. May God continue to bless you and your family.

LOL @ only complimenting Jeremy for the build and saying Melissa is always by his side. They are both doing the build not just Jeremy. She is not a sidekick but a full 50% of a team. Don't downgrade her to the "little woman." It amazes me when women are the people to lessen other women and their accomplishments.

I hope you don’t give up on Coda, I have a horse like him only a mare. I’ve taught my kids to be aware of her, safety is knowing your surroundings, she’s in no way intentionally malicious but just flat out spooks at a fart… when the others are being ridden she will ride along side and behave herself, she just wants to be with her herd. So like you I got an older horse and this has also calmed my mate, Debbie kicking at Coda is good, she’ll put him in his place and teach him some manners.

From a person that has had horses- you’re doing the right thing! Don’t let anyone make you feel badly if you need to find a better fit for Koda. Horses are expensive to feed, house and vet. They come with undeniable risks. Love the new pony for your kids! I hope they enjoy horsemanship and riding with her. I suspect she’ll be alpha. It was always interesting to watch hierarchy be established. Again, if your viewers don’t understand horses, they may think she was aggressive or mean. She’s just being a horse getting established into her new herd.

    • @lindak3030
      @lindak3030 ปีที่แล้ว +11

Yeah, going to have to disagree with you. Horses form relationships, it's not Koda's fault he's too young and not fit for little kids. He's got a home, he knows it and he's comfortable and he's already been rehomed at least once 18 months ago. Animals are a lifetime commitment. In the case of a horse, that can be a 30 year commitment. Yes, they're expensive, and that's why the time to decide if you can afford that commitment is before you get a horse. Auction lots are full of horses going for meat because people decide they don't want to honor the commitment they made to an animal when it becomes inconvenient for them. Horses are not tools, and they aren't toys. They're sentient animals that have emotions, form bonds with each other, and don't exist for the pleasure of human beings. People who would never, ever think of rehoming a dog will rehome a larger animal, but there's really no difference between the two even if people have decided to call one group of animals "pets' and one group "livestock".

    • @lindascheffer1973

@@lindak3030 Koda deserves a deep bond with owners skilled enough to ride her. Bottom line.
These owners don't have the skills- there is no crime knowing ones limitations.
The ranch they just came from- I could guarantee they leave Koda there for a long summer - they will get back a different horse.
Lil-Debi came from a full fledged serious horse facility, and an old pony without a name or papers is very strange, wouldn't you agree?
That is the kind of ranch that's "been there done that" raising and selling generations of horses. If I had to sell Koda somewhere it is too a place like that! Even if I took a hit because I would know Koda will learn quickly what Koda needs to learn and likely sold again to become someone's treasure.
      No judgement upon anyone okay?

@@GPeterson-jw5sp The little kids can't ride him. That doesn't mean no one in the family can't ride him. In any case, again, horses aren't toys or tools. Even if no one can ride him he deserves to not be shifted around every 18 months and torn away from everything and everyone he knows just because he's not "useful" in the way they anticipated. Bottom line, they have the money, the land and the time and made a commitment to that horse by getting him, and moving him there. Still learning all the body language they give. Been stepped on twice...handler error...the don't see too close to their front feet under their head...don't stand too close to their shoulder, stay away from the back end if you don't know the temperament run your fingers along their side when you need to walk by so they are aware of your position, esp if they are eating.

Your end message really hit hard with me today. Our baby boy ( 24yo ) joined the US Space Force and left for basic this past Tuesday May 2nd. I never thought it would be so hard to let go, and never thought I would miss him this much. We are a close nit family much like your own. I am so very proud of him, and the new adventures he has before him, but still want to have a connection and be close, because as you explain time is something we never get back, and it is quite short in the sale of things. The look on the kids faces when they met Debbie and got to ride her for the first time was so heartfelt. Kira's eyes just lit up and Eli's smile ❤ I do understand about Koda and having to make the possible decision of re-homing is a tough one. Keeping the kiddo safe comes first. I wish I had a place set up for horses. Debbie is so gentle and such a great fit! ❤
Love this video and thank you for sharing this journey 😊

Without all information,, if I may add ? As a fellow horse poor farmer .. hahah I have found having 3 horses ,one that is older ,the older ones teach the younger on how to be calmer and easy going , the older one will teach them ie, nipping, teaching them to lay down and rest.. it they are both young they play off each other's energy . So 3 is a good thing , watch them for awhile before deciding anything. I just saw a clue in ur video, that confirmed it , Debbie is already doing her job . Teaching. Watch her do it .😊

The horse situation is tough but needs to be delt with. Someone would like to whip Kota into shape. So set him free to be a great horse to someone else. Garage looks great.

Debbie is beautiful, happy the kids have a well seasoned pony to learn on . I hope you teach them bareback cause that's the connection to learn your legs on them . The gentleness it takes to make them do as you wish is much more clear to pony as children learn reins/bit and squeeze of legs.

Pony story. I had a pony named Debbie Doll. My grandparents had a pony farm back in the day when you could buy a pony for less than $10.00! One time Papa went to buy a pony and brought it home in the backseat of his Buick! Yep, grandma was thrilled, lol! Koda deserves to go to a home that has time to work with him, and that may not be your family.

The little Gypsy looks like a sweet girl. Just what the children needed. The other boy is a bit to young, he would be good for a young man with more will power then the horse. I had one many years ago similar, had a wild side because he was to young. Nearly killed me twice would roll back on me. Three tie downs later still wild. Traded him for an older quarter. She rode well and very gentle. Much better. Old horses are a blessing. God bless 🙏❤

With respect to Coda, Charley Munger (co-CEO of Berkshire Hathaway), told a horse story -- when you have a problem horse, wait until it has a moment of peace, then sell it.

Have you built an enclosure for the sheep? I would hope your horses have a barn with 4 walls. The animals need some protection from the winter. It is so cold that far north. 😢
