Captiva Eagles ~ Cal Returns To Nest After Fledging! Spends The Night! 💕 3.14.24

- Cal had been perched in the upper branches and was seen flying in the area but this afternoon at 2:28pm, Cal made his official return to the nest 29 hours later after fledging! ♥ Cal hopped around - probably was hoping for some fish nestovers but there wasn't any. Cal then goes back up the limb and flies off. Great job Cal making it back to the nest!!
Cal returns later in the day and returns to the nest for the second time just after 6pm. Cal then went up the right limb and perched and came back down and immediately laid down to rest. Cal must have been so tired from his initial flight and for perching all this time. Hopefully Clive or Connie will bring a nice fish for him to eat! Thank you for watching!

Background: Connie has been the resident eagle since 2009 & she is believed to be at least 20 years old. Clive is the resident male & has been around since 2021. His age is unknown.
Last season, Connie laid two eggs but only one hatched - CE9 (Connick). Connick began to lose flight feathers and then on April 4th 2023 fell from the nest. He was rescued by CROW & taken to Audubon Center for Birds of Prey. After months of evaluation and treatments, Connick continued to drop feathers and has been named non releasable. He will be transferred to the National Zoo early next year and live out his live as an ambassador bald eagle.
Location: The nest is located on Captiva Island off the coast of Fort Myers Florida. After Hurricane

"Where's MY fishie or the Welcoming Parents? Hmm... perhaps I better fly off to find them"?
