Oh I so eco dying, not done any on fabric but I have on paper. These turned out beautifully. I love the stronger darker one, may I please as how did you get such a strong mordant did you just dilute it less? thanks
It was probably a very strong mordant to start with, as I have alot of rusty things I soaked. 🤪 But also I dipped the fabric into the.mordant instead of just the leaves.
@@artfiberstitch Thank you for that, I'll give it a go....well once the weather warms up coz I don't like playing outside in the cold lol but I can get my rusty water ready that's for sure

Beautiful!! And you just steamed with the rust water?
That's right, you can steam it with the rust water!
Did you have to soak the fabric in salt water to stop the rusts oxidation process from eating the fabric?
I did rinse it in the salt water and then clean water to remove the salt at the end 😊
I love this. Just wondering if rust is safe.
Hi. I haven't read anything to suggest it is not. Always a good precaution to wear gloves though.
Hi, love this idea! I am wondering if the color that shows up in the darker fabric stays after washing?
It should, I made my own mordant with rusty things vinegar and water.

Thank you. I just checked online and found this. “ Rust is oxidized iron, which isn't harmful”
How do I save or store the rust water that I've made?
I used a large coffee jar.
Thank you so much. I have an old pickle jar with lid.
