    I love grunging up fabric and use the salt and vinegar method in the main, plus tea. Love the bright results that you show, so will give that a go. It actually makes a relaxing change from stitching and journaling. Love your embroideries. Tfs

      Hi Mary, thanks for the lovely comment. It's great hearing about new ideas ( new to me that is) and giving them a try. I've not heard of the salt & vinegar method so will be looking that up now and experimenting. Have a wonderful day. Hugs C xx

    You were recommended by one of my viewers and I’m so glad that she did! I love rusting metal and never thought of doing it on fabrics! Thank you thank you thank you! This will be perfect for the journal I’m working on so I cannot wait to watch the next two videos and get to rusting ❤️🥰

      HI Sherri, it works on paper too but you have to be careful because for obvious reasons the paper is fragile when damp but also it's difficult to rise and can have a vinegar smell afterwards. So glad you liked the tutorials though. Hugs C xx

    not all metals rust

    • @oakhousejournals
      @oakhousejournals  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Kim, I appreciate do that but I give plenty of examples in the video of the types of items I have tried and tested and found to work well. This whole process is about trying and using what you have and no rusting session gives the same results as last time you did it, despite using the same method and pieces of metal... that's what makes it so fascinating to do. @@oakhousejournals Iron is the only metal that will rust. That is a scientific fact. It can be very confusing to your audience when you say that all metals rust. Gold, silver, copper, aluminum, and brass are metals that do not rust. They can corrode and provide color that way, but it is not rust.

    Thank you so much for your videos. Where do you get cogs from?

    • @oakhousejournals
      @oakhousejournals  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You are more than welcome, Donna. I used a mix of new and used cogs. The new ones I bought via Amazon ( Ranger do Tim Holts Ideology cogs but these are a little bit expensive to use for rusting, so gt any cheap ones you can find either from Amazon or any DIY shop). The used ones I had in the garage. Hope that helps. Thanks so much for watching. C xx

    I tried to create impressions with rusted nails on fabric, but it only results in the form of rusted outline of those objects and the whole inner part didn't get the rust just like the first sample of your work with the ring shape impressions. So, what's the reason of creating that negative space

    Has anyone tried Iron Oxide? A cheap raw material available from any potter supplier, I t is used to give ceramics a brown colour in the firing process.
