Also-- I think you actually got 3 more points for the fern pattern on the left side of the board (yellow, green, and pink fern tiles all touching.) :)

question for you Dani, i played my first game of Calico tonight. i had a question on scoring. the AAA-BBB tile. i had 3 stripe tiles and 3 fern tiles. that is the highest point value correct? the lower point value would be 3 of the same color, 3 of the same color? my score was 70. that seems high for a first game! lol. i have a photo of my finished quilt but i dont think i can post photos in the comments section
Hey Todd! So the rulebook says:
“If you complete a Design Goal Tile using color or pattern, you gain the points in the blue circle (center). If you complete it using color and pattern you gain only the points in the yellow circle.”
So if the colors of those 6 tiles were also AAA-BBB in addition to being those two different patterns, you get the highest point values.
@@DaniCha ok, yeah the 3 stripe tiles weren't the same color and the 3 fern tiles were not the same color. so i should have scored blue points. i read the rules but got confused! lol

@@DaniCha good, i am not the only one! lol. i will have to look at my photo and re score. sounds weird but I take phots of my scores and game sheets. i want to do a spread sheet of my scores.
I like that idea! I track just about all my game play and scores whenever possible using the BG stats app on my phone. So I think what you’re doing is a great idea!
