    I also quit social media a few months ago and I agree with you. It was the same for me with instagram. I found myself endlessly scrolling through the featured contents and minding other peoples business. It was when I realized it was not only wasting my time but also harming me psychologically. Quitting social media was the best decision I made for myself.

    Social media makes you bored to the point you are looking for your fix and start looking for things to look at or get involved in. I deleted all of mine years ago and started picking up hobbies and it changed my life completely. I love to read (mostly physical books), play board games, etc. Your mind becomes clearer and you are more engaged in the present.

    I really respect people who banish social media. It can show that a monster can be defeated and taking back control of your life possible without the corrosive need for aggrandisement where you depend on others to measure your worth. Life is hard enough without social media and actualization should not need status as being simply a good egg is enough. True we need respect and abandoning media is a important step in our growth spiritually and respect from peers should be measured by a capacity to express compassion tempered by humility. Some of the most amazing people have no status and are poor but they get my respect because they have no bitterness and check their ego by responsibility for themselves and others. God bless this speaker and others who seek freedom and allocate genuine emotion so honestly and clearly.

    I’ve been off social media since 2013 and over time, I have noticed how other people revolve their lives around social media. From the selfies they take to way they talk and act. Some will even consider an outcast for not being on those platforms.

    I completely quitted Facebook for around 8 years ago, the best thing that I have ever done. Was so engrossed and addicted to it that I can spend virtually every waking minute on it and it was not only psychologically but physically affecting me as well. Handphone app games were another huge problem for me but I completely deleted them from my phone around 3 years ago.
    All of these made me realized we have simply fallen into the addictive trap that these social or app game developers have designed. Not only did I wasted a significiently part of my life on them but I hardly gain anything from it. My life is now much happier than it was before and I am definately not going back.

      @@Babitski Thanks, Insta for me is much less addictive than FB being heavily simplified and I am not socially active. Frankly I have no idea what FB has currently evolved into. Nowadays I use TH-cam way more than Insta but at least I am learning something from informative videos.

    I am currently 15, I deleted my socials almost a year ago. At the beginning it didn’t help me that much but I still held that for 9 months. This year in late April I downloaded them again out of the peer pressure of the ppl around me constantly telling me I’m missing out, telling me to download it again. And I did. It made me scroll mindlessly again for almost 2 months until I deleted them again almost a week ago , cuz I realized that I’m wasting my time and energy on something that won’t even benefit me and only made me feel worse about myself. After deleting them again I realized how many ppl in my life were just fake friends. Before I quit again I wrote on my instagram story that I’m deleting my socials and the accounts and that if they want to talk to me they can message me on my phone number which most of them have. Let me tell you, only 2 did. The rest just forgot of my existence lmao. So I think deleting socials can also help you detect fake and/or toxic friends & relationship.

    • @Babitski
      @Babitski  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Absolutely buddy. Good for you. You're only 15, keep it up, dig more into yourself rather than look around, and you'll beet the shit out of all your former "friends" of the same age by the time you'll be 25.

    • @hameley12
      @hameley12 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's great news. It's time to unplug from the extension which is a toxic environment. I deleted mine all three about four years ago except for TH-cam. YT has interesting topics I enjoy, classes, and podcasts. Thankfully my mobile phone has a timer built in, I set it up then to turn down the screen to black and white by 9pm every night. By the time it is like that, it's time to wind down and sleep. From the 20+ "friends" who followed my social media accts, only three of them did call me to hang out on the weekend. As the saying goes "There are followers, there are passersby, then there are a few gems called Friends. Do hold on to them, they are rare".

    Thank you for sharing this. I have never had an Instagram, twitter, tik tok or Pinterest account. I only use private groups on facebook for courses I'm taking, so it's more like an online contacts and notice board. That said, I still experience depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, feeling like I'm not enough etc., just because of the way society is set up to compare, judge, criticise and spread fear. I have ADHD so I get easily overwhelmed and over think, which is why my natural instinct has always been to avoid social media. I can sometimes take me weeks to reply to a text but my friends understand me and love my the way I am. If I interacted with social media the way most people do, I think I'd be in a straight jacket by now! I probably use you tube too much, I mainly watch videos on mindfulness, breathe work and old fashioned movies. But it's so easy to get caught up in nonsense just like you can on any other social media platform.

    • @Babitski
      @Babitski  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comment. Yes, I can absolutely double that - even on TH-cam it's super easy to get stuck with a nonsense content, but people vote for it, including us. ADHD is a serious risk factor in terms of social media addiction, I certainly have it (ADHD I mean) and probably that is why I've deleted insta.

    my trick been to stop looking at TH-cam in the computer that often.. I do now as I can write here.. but when I watch your tube in the LG tv app instad I will not see all the comments as I do here and notifications as one do here.. but instead focus on the content I choose to learn from... I an get anxiety that I wanna open the computer and write a comment or ask something on a video I see.. but I try to restrict myself and just watch and then journal late that day what I learnt and what questions it open up of rme and then at another time or day sit down and comment a few minutes at all those videos I am learning from what I want to ask and know about and then let it be for a week and come back to see if anyone replied.. in this way the dopamine is strengthened until next week when I come back to learn more... is been a better way for me to handle social media interaction ... have a good Sunday!

    man this is intense - before i continue to watch the video : i never went into instagram that much because, hard to beleive, i never bougth a smartphone - but since 2008 my addiction to facebook went worse and worse - despite , as a musician, i had some benefits from it, i can see that the negative things were just much more : i've lost friends, time , but especially...my mind - living for years in a parallel dimension - always looking for approval of others - spending hours, entire days and nights on FB - a total addiction - 15 years -a crazy addiction -
    went into total alienation - with no social, you feel like an alien, this is the reality today

    I also decided to quit social media a few months ago, Facebook titkok and IG. It's not like I'm this big content creator or anything i was literally just there watching other people's life and comparing myself,ended up being depressed cause my peers are living their lives out there, or so i taught until rumours went around of this one girl who actually lied about buying a car at her young age and that's where i decided social media and this lavish lifestyles are just one big fat lie!!! Deleted all my socials and I've not been happier ever since yes the first few weeks was tough but I've accomplished so much! In such a short space of time.
    I use to feel so delayed in life but I've come to realize that this life thing is not a competition.
    I've shut all the noise and now it's me vs me.

I don’t see the latest trends my friends are jumping on. I don’t see whether my highschool friends are traveling or if they just got engaged.
      Life is good over here for me and if it’s any content that affects me in some way, I’ll just block the whole channel and unrecommend any video that’s remotely similar to it.

    Very valuable video, but the lowering of testosterone thing doesn’t have any scientific fundament, you need to be careful whenever you talk about a medical condition.

      Thanks man! I'd like to admit that there's a scientific evidence of what I was describing, please just search for "social media and testosterone" on PubMed. Secondly, in most of the times, you I don't need to reference to studies as I understand the underlying princilple of the phenomena

    Spot on man! I quit facebook over 3 years ago and never felt better. I had been using instagram for a purpose of following a guys classes that were being announced through instagram and that's what got me on there but I just recently gave that up as well. All a big waste of time.
