The Mission: To save a stripped out and forgotten D-Day Airplane from the Scrapyard and get her flying for the 75th anniversary of D-Day (June 6th, 2019).
The Timeframe: We have only 6 months to get the DC-3 flying.
The Reason: This airplane is only a handful left in the world that actually flew on D-Day. We are getting her flying in the memory of people who lost their lives that day, June 6th, 1944.
The Cost: Everything we have.

hi Nick... my dad was an airframe mechanic RCAF '41 to '46 403 squadron ... Supermarine Spitfires ! so cheers to you both !
My dad was also an airframe tech RCAF started on Harvards, wrote a maintenance manual for Dakotas in Wpg in late 70s. Retired in 80-something.

I'm a grown man, and I was crying like a baby watching this episode. Seeing your team, young and old male and female, experienced and inexperienced, but all with the same dedication working on this project and seeing the joy and pride on your faces--just touching and beautiful. Having watched every episode since day one--those of us watching can't help but feel a part of this in at least some small way. Well done team, well done! And for tomorrow God bless--stay safe.

DUXFORD was great today (5 June). 21 (I think) Daks left for Normandy, some with paratroopers. Hope all goes well and according to plan for DTD on the 6 June. A huge fantastic team and the Plane Savers Universe has got DTD to where it is today. EVERYBODY appreciates what you have been able to achieve.
You are going to need plenty of tissues to hand, when watching her wheels leave the ground.
Here's hoping for a safe flight.
We watched the DC-3s flying over Southend yesterday, on their way to Normandy.
That bought tears to a few eyes. A magnificent sight and sound.
No more days Mikey, we just have the "Wake up." Congrats on bringing DTD so far in such a short time. You, Stella, Ronnie, and all of your volunteers are absolutely awesome and have achieved the impossible. You are my Hero! Shout out to Flight Chops for being one of your strongest supporters.

Having watched the fast taxi runs, William in the cockpit with your dad, Quinn's arrival the look on everyone's faces and yours the emotion of all of this that has led up to this is something I do not think any of us will not remember, and it is all thank's to you and Benoit, ENA, and everyone that has supported this wonderful project from around the World, the dream is coming to pass. Totally. I experienced the exact same thing, dude. I couldn't help but smile throughout the entire episode. I have smiled through all of the episodes..but this was was extra special. I really hope that those that are new to aviation understand just how big of an undertaking this project was. The transformation that this plane underwent in the last couple of months is absolutely astonishing. Mikey McBryan is the man.
Truly brought a tear to my eye during the test run. I'm hoping there is one more episode after tomorrow; we need the resolution of what happens to DTD post inaugural flight.

June 6 here in Oz - well done guys, fingers crossed for tomorrow - she'll be fine I'm sure. Remembering my good friend John who 75yrs ago today flew on Ops with 418 Squadron RCAF in support of D-Day. And I also can't forget my Uncle in the RN who captained a landing craft. All the best.

I'm not going to lie, I got misty a half dozen times . . . listening to Joe, then watching Quin's perpetual smile, then figuring Quin had brought a picture of his dad to take for a last flight in DTD. It's heart warming to consider the memories that have surfaced since Plane Savers began . . . the recollections that tie everyone together are remarkable. DTD has pulled everyone back 75 years to a simpler place in time. And you, Mikey, have been the facilitator of our collective journey. Thanks a million! :)

Everything about this episode was amazing. Seeing DTD wanting to fly. Joe's reaction to the bunny hop. Seeing Quin's reaction when he saw DTD for the first time. When Quin mentioned his grandfather sitting in the seat next to him. The emotion was coming back. Tomorrow is going to be epic. There's thousands of war veterans looking down on the crew cheering them on!

When you look at the plane just 55 days ago, its simply amazing that it's ready to fly again. You and your merry band of outlaws did an amazing job. No other group in the world could have returned DTD to airworthiness in just 55 days of work. Mikey , give yourself credit for inspiring people from around the globe to get behind saving this old bird. Our Human D Day vets are passing every day. Thanks to you, Buffalo and your crew, one more mechanical D Day veteran was saved from the scrap heap.
