I've seen some people say they don't recommend using kpop to study Korean because the lyrics aren't the way people really talk, etc. But I honestly think reading song lyrics and looking up words I don't know has been a very helpful technique. And as you said, it's easier to memorize something when you can sing it!
My favorite Korean singer is Onew from SHINee and I have learned a lot from his beautiful songs. I highly recommend his album, Circle. Many of the songs have very heart-felt and touching lyrics that are fairly straightforward and not too difficult. (It's also just an absolute masterpiece!)

Onew! He has many good songs! I'm particularly fond of "방백," a beautiful track from SHINee. I think there are many great K-Pop idol songs, especially among the B-side tracks! Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Wishing you all the best as well!
i dont know why people hate on it so much. i used kpop and got to a decent level in korean (upper intermediate.. but i didnt use JUST kpop. its a main source though. kpop and idols messages haha) and now im using anime ost for japanese 😅
as long as you realize some vocab is song specific (like 고 파 for 고 싶다 or 그대 which is used in songs/poems), that music doesnt reflect spoken inflections of words, and that the grammar structure may be incorrect or backwards for the sake of a catchy beat, then youll be totally fine. its easier to learn vocab if its contantly repeated, and it exposes you to a lot of grammar... just dont use kpop lyrics as proper sentence examples lol but you can still learn grammar as well. i dont think you can learn a language PURELY through music because of that, but its still a good learning source in my opinion. so keep doing you! 파이팅~

사실 노래로 공부하는 방법이 너무 좋아,일단은 좀 어렵지 것 같지만 효율적이네요 그리고 그 노래 lyrics 읽으면 새로운 단어가 또 배워고 있어요.노래 부려서 발음이 또 좋아 질 것 같아요.
좋아하는 노래에서 단어 하나만 외워도 좋죠 😊 노래는 저절로 쉐도잉이 되니까 발음도 좋아지겠네요!ㅋㅋㅋ
To understand AKMU lyrics is my motivation to learn Korean! But I found it hard to study the lyrics as a beginner. Instead I study some podcasts specifically for beginners.

Hi Didi, great podcast! I noticed that you sometimes use 왜 or 뭐 before expressing an idea or thought as if it’s a filler word(example at 0:25). Kinda like how English speakers say “um” or “uhh” as a filler word. Was curious if I’m mistaken or not lol
You notice that too?! Lol I noticed that too! I think that is my new habbit when I talk 😭 왜 is just like "You know" in English. And 뭐 is like "Well" haha I try not to use that too much, but it sometimes make the sentence smoother somehow! Good catch! ;)

저는 k-pop 중학교 때부터 좋아하고 요즘 한국어를 배우고 있어요. 노래를 들을 때 가사를 이해하면 뿌듯한 느낌이 있어요 😅
