    What are those pops when you were melting the nail?

    • @Ubernator
      @Ubernator 8 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      Called a flashback, all the hydrogen in line line is exploding, thats why we have the bubbler. If there was nothing stopping the hydrogen from flashing back into the main container it would blow it self up.

      I dont think these are "full" flashbacks though(probably just inside the torch) since a flashback all the way to the bubbler would make your ears ring and probably blow some tubes off their connections.

      It's impurities in the steel nail. The nails had a little bit a rust on it so it was probably the small amounts of Iron-Oxide (rust) that was popping

    What purpose do the neutral plates serve? do they just add space for the water to build up in or do they do something else?

    How much current does a setup like this take? Could you run a unit like this in a car off an alternator and inject it into the intake so it would actually give you a positive result in energy used vs created?

    are the plate sizes and thicknesses critical? What are the dimensions you used?

  • @CliffMendes
    @CliffMendes 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi Sir
    Can you please let me know the voltage and ampherage you have used for power supply and the size and thickness you have used for the plates.

  • @DoRC
    @DoRC 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Im sure this is a stupid question but what is the purpose of the neutral plates on the system?

    • @DoRC
      @DoRC 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nevermind. They are used as votage dividers..

    • @pir869
      @pir869 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      each side of the neutral plates become opposite polarity ,the further away from one polarity you go,the more closer to the other polarity it becomes,it gives in essence more little + and - cells,from the most negative end each neutral plate face will become negative or positive,so one face of a neutral plate will be more negative or positive than the other side of the same plate -,+-,+-,+-,+ this would be negative supply at one end then three neutral plates then the positive supply at the far end,as Do R/C! says,voltage dividers,they even out and share the potential(voltage).

    how well will it function with normal tap water ? Compared to your solution.

    • @Mr.Unacceptable
      @Mr.Unacceptable 8 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Distilled water doesn't conduct. It's the minerals and impurities that make water conductive. He's just using the least corrosive means to make the water it's most conductive. Could use salt water but it creates corrosion. It all depends on what your tap water has in it. More than likely you have hard water that will work just fine or even better but then you have the corrosion and calcium scale build up on the plates.

    • @MathiasMTA11

      Probably not as well due to the extra unknown-containments that he can't possibly account for. Adding a verified amount of a substance would allow him to produce Hydrogen and Oxygen at a rate he could control, unlike with tap water which can change time to time. :)

    • @makeshifttechnology1738

      More volts AND more plates can make more hydrogen.The most efficient hydrogen production happens when you apply 2.5 - 3 volts per plate.If you just increase the voltage it will not increase the production as much.

    The residue on the plates is due to the use of brass bolts is simply made a galvanic reaction (the chemical added will support this further). Use stainless steel in all parts and get rid of residue + rust/oxidation.
    Btw..a flame arrestor would be a must-have safety feature. I almost wanted to say "Happy new year" as you melted the nail..
    You can fabricate one by yourself a tube and some stainless steel wool is all it takes to be safe.
    Nice generator setup.

    You have your holes at same place so your plates can't create so much that way. It's better to have first plate 2-3 holes at the bottom and next plate 3 holes on left side, next 3 holes on right side etc until last plate where the exit is and have 3-4 holes at top to get best effect out of everything. I use 22 plates, size 150mm x 150mm and gives me plenty of HHO.

    havent had to clean mine since I bought it 3 years ago.. thing is... the plates arent just normal stainless.. they're 316L grade stainless... which is the most resistant to grain boundary carbide precipitation.. aka the leaching of iron into you water..
    I also use 9x distilled water so it has no mineral's or elements in it either. still looks like when I bought it.

    i am not very good with this concept as this is my first time watching HHO stuff. what do the neutral plates do? 1 positive plate in the middle and 1 each negative plate at the ends and a bunch of neutral plates in the middle. i dont understand this setup. whats the purpose of the neutral plates between the + and - plates? thanks

    Is the cell itself heating in normal usage? I wonder what is the efficiency of the cell..
    If the PSU supplies for example 500W, is 400W transferred for heating the water and 100W for producing HHO?

    That's a neat generator! How long can you run that generator for till you need to fill it up again? And do you know what temperature the generator operates at?

    How efficient is this? How much Hydrogen vs watts used?

      You get less energy than you put in. Not sure about exact numbers

      and here i was thinking you get more energy than you put in, defying all laws of physics

      +Ornf That's what I'm here for ;) Can't let you keep a false belief.

    • @MexicanCanBreakToo
      @MexicanCanBreakToo 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ornf But for real, there is also a possibility of yielding the same amount of energy. Satisfying the definition of efficient which was the original question. So I wanted to address the question to that extent.

      I was just wondering since you can get 50 Liters of hydrogen for 30$. So it might be pointless to do this at home.
