Bandai is probably hesitant to make an MG Gundam because of the way the cockpit opens

@@MechaGaikotsu a perfect grade with light up permet scores that can change from 1-5 (red), 6-7 ( blue) and 8+ (white). They'd charge out the ass for it though

Mecha, if you want to correct mistakes on the gundam markers, I recommend soaking the part in 99% isopropyl alcohol. It will strip the paint easily and almost instantly, and won't harm the plastic.
Also, if you want more precise paintwork with gundam markers, pour some paint on a paint pallette and use a fine brush to apply on the area you want to paint
Finally, just get those third party waterslide decals like from Delpi Decal for your kits (avoid DL waterslides as the quality isn't good). They release them faster than Bandai and the quality is better

Ok. So just use a brush and drop those lame markers lol. I don't think you have any advice to give to anyone if you're so lazy you use markers to customise your mechs. AND dunno what you have against official bandai decals...they're the only things I buy from bandai...and if you don't have the patience for some water to unstick the decals from the sheet, then I don't think this hobby is for you...the time it take for water to moisten the decals is pretty much a non-issue. You sound like the 95% of the guys who just build the kit, barely even making a pannel lining and call it a day giving ADVICE to a guy that's been putting in four times the work you'd ever put and managing his channel for close to ten years...Gaikotsu was kind enough to reply and give your comment a like, I'd be like "points taken noob, now get out of here with your BS amateur advice". I'd be REALLY curious to see your stuff...marker slathered goodness, yumyum
@@SpyanLord I rarely use gundam markers now as I use mostly spray cans for painting. I do panel line my kits, put waterslides and topcoat my kits. I'm giving him this advice simply because I've been through his situation before. I haven't even done straight builds since my second kit. Lastly, sure Bandai's waterslide decals are decent in their own right, but third party companies that make waterslide decals for gunpla make better quality decals from my experience using them and Bandai's
Your runner tower is so neat, I've only really seen horizontal designs but the vertical one just makes so much sense to save space
I have three of those runner Stands love them to death. Can add and remove shelves depending on how much space you need for bigger or smaller runners parts. also you can store the extra shelves inside the bottom

I dont get why people in the comments expect an MG this early. I get that Aerial's popularity almost warrants an MG but it doesn't have to be this early. Alot of people don't realize is that these incrementations will only make the next product better. I rather wait a few years than settle for a rushed Master Grade
given how good this is, im excited to see how the MG will turn out, cause they're 100% gonna make one given the show and the Aerials popularity.

Don't count on it happening for a few years. IBO was just as popular when airing, and MG Barbatos came WAY later. They'll milk the 1/100 FM for a long time yet.

I think this and MG barbatos are gonna be the first Gunpla I get to get back into the hobby. I bought a few HGs years and years ago and they didn't really spark my interest that much, but now with the experience I have building and painting Warhammer I'm excited to get back into gunpla and actually do some customizing instead of just building.

I mean this in a very nice way, thank you so much for not putting on that annoying performative voice anymore. The natural speaking vibe is so much more listenable and your content has gotten much better. Just grabbed the HG aerial not long ago but this does make me want to grab the FM one of these days.
This kit is proving to me overtime that Bandai will be investing more into standard FM kits versus MG in the future, simply due to cost and manufacturing. This was well designed, beyond my expectations, and beats out plenty of older MG kits for sure. FM may in fact become the standard 1/100 scale with builds like this at a fraction of what a MG would cost. Im hoping some of the other Gundams get the FM treatment as well, similar to how they did IBO.
comparing this one that is 3800 yen vs the Zeta gundam that costs 6500 makes it clear, I don't care about gimmicks that would probably make the MG kits more fragile, I'm perfectly fine with this balance and prcie

You know this had me thinking, I think 10 to 15 years from now Bandai will phase out real grades as well if high grades basically become on par with them. HGs are already getting more surface detail day by day and are extremely well engineered so it's not far from possibility.
If going full FM for 1/100 kits means they'll do more kits from a series, then I am COMPLETELY behind that! Hope to see the rebuild and the Lfrith announced soon
@@MechaGaikotsu I think that's the plan. If its cheaper to cast a wider 'money net', it'll be way more profitable than investing more resources behind just the protag suit while ignoring other audiences.
Kinda depressing tho that all the cool stuff mg is known for may be left for 3rd party companies to do.

Well, you convinced me to buy this kit. Just in time, too, because I snagged the only one left in the shop that I visited!
That said, I'm fully supportive of Full Mechanics going in the direction of being superficially Master Grade quality, while removing the some gimmicks like the opening cockpits, because the lower price point and simpler build arguably increases their overall longevity and durability.

I’m so glad this is gundarium, I was studying Japanese in Japan when I saw this in a local gundam store with a future release date, when it came out I bought it on faith having never heard of the full mechanics line (I previously have only built two MGs).
While I just started building gunpla this with 5 kits and working on another I highly enjoy your more in depth videos.
Just ordered mine today. Gonna look so good in my Master Grade display! Really love this design.
I recently just got into gunpla and I have to say I’m hooked. I feel like a kid building my Lego sets again. My first to were HG Aerial and MG Dynames (one of my top 3). Looking forward to adding this to my collection
Just finished the main body. Probably the most fun I've had assembling a gunpla so far. And it standing next to my HG Aerial looks so good.
I remember the prologue showed part of an Lfrith-type inner frame, when the Vanadis Institute was constructing one of their Gundams. I imagine that Aerial's future MG is gonna involve one of those.
Been catching up on my backlog lately and decided to order this kit plus the KOSMOS led's. Can't wait to have it all put together and on the shelf. I never used metallic markers before. Might need to pick some up to try out. I usually airbrush whole parts or hand paint small sections with Vallejo metallic paints for my kits.
I've always loved the design vibes from 00 and IBO series
please do this kind of long step by step building video from now on ... especially for big and complicated kits like MG or FMMechanic

I quit gunpla back when sazabi ver ka still cheap.
After that kit, the scalper is getting worse.
Since the fall of Kaskus FJB, gunpla wasn't worth the price anymore.
i recently ordered one of this, and its still in japan, anyways this is my first a bit expensive gunpla,well not that really expensive..but its expensive in our time now.. my very first 3 gundam back in 90's when i was a kid where sandrock, heavy arms at death scythe. although it is very cheap before like 100pesos each, but in 90's 100 pesos is expensive....only now at this time i just realized its grade was HG.
now this if my forth gundam for so many years,excitedly waiting for it, seeing videos like this and other to how customizable it is. it really peaks my interest. excited to create my own build and style. thanks for this video, although i realzied FM is not that good as MG what im seeing in SM STORE like barbatos, but im still excited on this.

I do wish the eyes were transparent instead of opaque. You get a few more options then:
- LED behind the eyes
- a reflective surface behind the clear eyes (e.g. MG Turn A) is also a very good effect
- and you can still simply paint over the clear part and make it opaque if you like
I also really want to put a diffuse LED array behind the shell units somehow but I don't have a solid idea how to do that yet. Maybe having transparent instead of opaque metallic internals would be good there too.
it's crazy how far behind MG is, i wouldn't expect one any time soon. it was like five years between the IBO premiere and the MG barbatos

II really really like Aerial's desing, its really smart, smooth and stylish. the HG was a blast and it makes me happy that Gundam feels more alive than ever

Painting this would be a great experience. The MG will come in with different shaded armor plates but this have enough panel lines to guide you in applying the custom colors.
I'm planning to paint mine with gold paint for the yellow parts, and do the same as Mecha on the red "eyes" in the chest and the eyes in the head

I really enjoy your videos. Being consuming quite a bit of Gunpla videos lately as I am completely new to the hobby. I bought my first kit, the MG EX Freedom which from many of those videos seems to be one of the best kits out there today. I also bought Godhand single blade nippers. But, they have not arrived yet. I went to a hobby store and they had kits at 40% discount so I bought a the RG Wing Zero and a pair of cheap nippers. My idea was to use the cheap ones to cut off from the runners and then use the Godhands to cut off the nubs. I debated afterwards if I should have bought the Raser gate removal to sand off the nub cuts. But I am impatient (not good for building Gunpla I know) and I started and finished the RG Wing Zero. After trying to cut off the remaining nubs with an X-Acto and cutting my thumbs I used the same nipper to remove from the runner and cut out the nubs. I didn't notice that much issues with that approach but I will use my dual nipper approach with the MG EX. Wanted to get your take on that. I see on this you just cut out nubs with nippers. I know you have stated you have to do things quick to keep churning out videos (saw your panel lining video and that is probably my next step into this hobby) so with the MG EX just wanted to get your take if that would be enough to have a good quality kit. The only downside from your otherwise excellent videos is that I keep adding to my wish list. I hope not to get too deep into the rabbit hole. Well anyways keep those awesome videos coming.

Let's go finnaly I've been waiting to see how good it is.
I feel like maybe adding some black panel lining or paint between the ridges for the shell units would help them pop a bit more. It seems like the issue they have is that the reflective chrome coating is too good at reflecting the light so there's no discernible separation between the score lines.
I'm having the same wrist problem with the Hg version. Gonna have to thicken the ball joint with super glue. Great vid!!

i actually love the option of going full M because its always in the lower price range so this quality means that youre getting more bang in your buck
It might make a lot of sense at least starting out for aerial to be a full mechanics kit and Calibarn to go all the way in on a master grade (and possibly PG, I absolutely yearn to see the permet sections be translucent and backlit by LED). Aerial is a great entry to the series for a lot of people so something that is only as complicated as it needs to be to look amazing is a good entry point to the hobby, but the absolute mecha sickos have made Calibarn a fan favorite, and Calibarn has a lot of things that would make it an absolutely amazing kit that would benefit greatly from the greater internal detail, like the internal grey frame inside the armor would work particularly well on Calibarn's relatively stark white frame. A full set of MGWFM gundams would be amazing though.

After picking up Warhammer 40k, I've been getting a bit eager with the hobby saw and paints. But this 1/100 FM kit fixes the biggest issue I had with my HG Aerial, out of box. The proportions look much better (albeit, further from the original art) than the HG and I love it. I would personally prefer to paint it, but at least I can save myself from hacking apart the torso to fix the scaling.
If I ever manage to get my hands on one, I'm probably going to have to do a permet score six build, which won't bode well for completing my current projects...

Would've loved to see the eye piece as a chromed out piece. Would really make it pop and compliment the other featured chrome pieces of the build.
as it is now it absolutely kills the Chogokin, now with chrome eyes and metallic gold parts for the yellow it would be overkill

I have this, I'd still buy a MG of the Aerial if they released it, one of my favorite suit designs they've had in quite a while.

The ver.ka nu gundam and the sazabi compromised their inner frame for external details, and people loved those kits. The MG barbatos also has a good looking inner frame for its sad time. I can't say the same for the seed zakus or even the MG Jegan.

I build it yesterday, nice build for what it is. The only real gripe I have is the large gund-bits they really did not bother to nicely hide the insides so it really look stupid and hg like compared to the other multi layered ones.

Ever since my friend got me my first ever gunpla (gundvolva) I have been spending my cash on these gunpla and i now have 10+ gunpla displayed on my shelves and after seeing this video i immediately bought the gundam aerial 1/100 just like this video. :)
I did use the Royal Metallic Red as a panel liner the first time I ever used it.
Apparently the clear parts coving the plated parts and the eyes are UV reactive. I can't confirm for myself but another review by Wotafa shows them glowing under a Uv light.
But I don't speak Japanese, so for all I know, they're saying "i coated the parts with UV reactive paint to recreate permet score six"

Looking at the shiny shell unit feels like its radiating a muscle/vein like in Pilot's Pemet faces.
It seems like you've missed the moving gimmick on the back of its thigh, the yellow vents will retract into the thigh when the knee is bent.
methinks an MG Aerial would have those lovely pre-injected HG parts for all the shell units throughout the kit, as well as a shield that doesn't need parts-forming to switch between bit-on and shield modes.
Technically you can put three shields on an Aerial (at least the HG) with two normal shields on both arms and having the third be the bit on form while using the spare two peg holes on the backpack and the one that attached to to the back of the waist

This kit is right up there with Turn-X in terms of my build enjoyment, and may even be my second favorite kit of all time.
If there was ever an argument for a tier beyond Gundarium, this would be it.

Even going to the links in the description I just cant seem to find the markers or especially the flow type panel liners. I've seen them so much in your videos and as someone who got into gunpla within the past year or so I would really like my own set, is there a way to tell if the panel liners you're shopping for are flow type?
this looks like it actually has a TRIPLE knee bend, there's the actual knee that's hinged at the round white part, there's the sliding extending joint above it in the thigh that separates the yellow vent, and then in the shin/calf there's a third joint below the main that also has armor separation between the knee guard/pad and the shin/calf area.

4:21 it doesn't necessarily have to be a coloured runner to have under-gating. Under-gating saves a lot of time on cleaning no matter the colour and is a part of Bandai's innovation in the engineering of kits so this statement was unnecessary lol
Was looking for this comment lol. SuperNova's kits are typically fully undergated too, despite never doing a coated kit AFAIK. It's a preferable way to structure a sprue, as long as you're confident the parts will fully mold through the smaller gate.
