In 5 days it’s gone over 200k views. Since you commented it has gone up 20k views. We are completely lost for words! But because of this we plan to make more videos of other cool weapons and other things!

      For the LMG/MMG a high rate of fire is not actually ideal, the main goal is to lay consistent fire down range to keep the target suppressed for as long as possible. Take note of the M2 browning’s rate of fire vs. the nearly identical (on aircraft) AN/M2 with a far higher RoF

    For those who commenting about this gun Horrible compared to other HMG, i hope you guys watch AZ Guns and forgotten weapons video, this gun may lack the typical rate of fire of standart HMG, but this gun is very accurate even in long range (and yes it came with a scope), can be fire continously without afraid of overheating and its recoil almost non existant because of its weight and small caliber ammo plus its tripod......

      Im told the problem with them was reliability, you had to be constantly oiling it or it just wouldn't feed. The other issue being feeding itself, if you want to continuously fire on a position you need a second person to load the clips into the gun as its firing, that person could be better spent.

    A lot of people in the comments don't seem to know much about machine guns. A low fire rate makes the gun easier to control, keeps it cooler for longer, and conserves ammo. The ammo conservation is especially important if your country has relatively limited industrial capacity and resources and can't produce ammo nearly as fast as a country like the US. It's reasons like these that I believe that the MG42's super high rate of fire was a huge liability. Not only did soldiers have to carry more ammo to keep it running as long as the MG34, but it's large consumption of ammo put more demand on Germany's factories and resources than necessary.

      1. As for the Type 92, I think you're confusing easier to control with difficult to carry around. Sure, it's heavy. But that weight combined with its relatively slow rate of fire and static position when firing work against the recoil, therefore making it easier to shoot.
      2. As for the MG 42, it's a liability in terms of ammo conservation. Shoot long bursts as much as you want towards enemies to keep their heads down, just remember that ammunition isn't forever.

    • @marcusfanning7513
      @marcusfanning7513 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@paleoph6168 "easier to control" implies good ergonomic function. Generally speaking with any heavy or general purpose machine gun "controllability" as in the video game recoil pattern is going to be negligible regardless of the weapon. Even the Mg42 with it being the wildest of the bunch still has little struggle in terms of "controllability" compared to the sheer concussion of 8mm mauser firing at upwards of 1000rpm beside you as long as you have a bipod to put your weight against and a somewhat heavy weapon. What makes PK pattern machine guns superior to the M240B and essentially any competition it has. Ergonomic function and ease of use which is what I would assume "controllability" implies and not the video game recoil pattern the weapon might have lmao. I dont think anyone is going to give serious consideration to "controllability" when a weapon being lightweight and handy to run around with is the difference between having a suppressive fire base and fiddling with a wieldy contraption while wading in mud and dirt.
      And as for the MG42, I think its pretty safe to say that if modern western armed forces are still using it to this day it was pretty far ahead of its competition.
      In conclusion. If its a machine gun. It needs to preform well in the role of... a machine gun... not a DMR but with 10x the weight and poor reliability. The 92 was an atrocious weapon and its users loathed it.

    Underrated gun.
    The reason it doesn't have an absurdly high rate of fire like MG 34 and especially MG 42 is because it's optimized for ground combat, unlike the German guns which must perform multiple roles including Anti-Air defense.

    • @fisherthegoat
      @fisherthegoat 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It largely just comes down to different countries' different philosophies on combat. The German's generally focused heavily on fire superiority throughout WW2, while the Japanese had more of a focus on marksmanship, skill, honor, things like that.

    • @fisherthegoat
      @fisherthegoat 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @CaptHawkeye Okay but you do realize that what you said about the germans is essentially what I said, just more detailed right? Fire superiority could be used for various purposes, including but not limited to area denial as you pointed out. My point was that if you look at the German philosophy for all weaponry in WWII, it was to have the biggest, strongest, most technologically advanced, and most scary weapons to deal with. While Japanese weapons were much more conventional/old fashioned, even for the time. Not just because of money issues, or trouble finding people who would sell to them, but because the Japanese army's philosophy on warfare was far different from really... anyone else's at the time. They had a focus on grit, heart, and the skill of the user, rather than the weapon itself. Though obviously this was an outdated way to look at warfare even all those years ago.

    • @fisherthegoat
      @fisherthegoat 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @CaptHawkeye Because it wasn't necessary to write as much as you are for a simple concept. The idea that Germany didn't have more technologically advanced weaponry is just stupid. The Schwerer Gustav. V-1 and V-2 rockets. Tiger I and II. I could go on ad nauseum.
      Yes the main ranks were built up of forces not too dissimilar from ours. But the idea that the German's were not heavily focused on technological advancement, just by looking at the difference in sheer volume/success rate of new and experimental weapon systems they designed/fielded over the course of the war is just ridiculous. They fielded several different generations of several different tanks in a way that none of the allies, bar the soviets could have matched. Yes the tactics, and the tenacity of their armored divisions were important, but part of why it was so successful, was because those tanks were ahead of the curve.
      I'm not going to sit here boring myself with writing much more. I made my point, and it shouldn't be such a jarring one that I have to write this much to prove it. It's pretty common knowledge, or at least it should be.

      Not really, you much better off with something with a higher rate of fire, which would allow you to suppress the enemy and prevent then from pushing, not to mention its around 55kgs, yet it shoots a smaller round than the .50. I would take a .50 over this any day because its lighter, barrel swaps are faster and easier, and you can actually go through lightly armored vehicles, trucks, cars, bricks, trees, multiple sandbags, aircraft, etc, meanwhile the 7mm round that this HMG fires cant do any of that very well if at all. If you going to have a HMG, it better either have a high fire rate or a high caliber round that can shoot down aircraft and light tanks. The german's MG42 could easily be switched into a light/medium MG and if mounted in a tripod, a HMG, which a rate of fire around 1300-1400 per minute. It might not be able to go through as many things as the .50 cal can, but its high rate of fire meant you could suppress the enemy from pushing your position, and in the case of D Day, mow down everyone in the landing craft as soon as the ramp opens within seconds. Its high fire rate also made it a somewhat effective AA gun when paired with a second MG42 against scout planes and even some fighter planes.

    • @chaos2876
      @chaos2876 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@PilotTed Higher rate of fire doesn't mean you suppress people any better than a slower rate of fire. Higher rate of fire though DOES mean that you have less trigger time before you have to reload, going through ammo faster, and accumulating heat and wearing through barrels faster. And the actual practical rate of fire in an actual combat scenario would only be around 150 rpm anyway, similar to other machineguns. Just having a high rate of fire doesn't actually mean much in combat.

    • @PilotTed
      @PilotTed 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@chaos2876 150 rpm??? Most people can shoot semi auto faster than that, that is literally slower than any WWI machinegun, which on average shot around 600rpm. I am sorry, but somthing shooting at 150 rpm is not going to supress the enemy as much as a machinegun shooting 700rpm, which is a pretty good speed. I dont think MGs should have anything ridiculous like over 1000, but anything under 500 is just too slow. The M4 shoots around 650 in full auto, while the M249 SAW shoots between 700-850. Also, I never said they should hold down the trigger till the ammo depletes or the barrel melts. A good MG gunner shoots a burst of around 7 seconds. I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt that the 150 rpm was referring to sustained fire, which you would be correct, as they are supposed to burst fire which allows them to sustain suppressing the enemy much longer than if they just fired all their ammo in one trigger pull.

    • @chaos2876
      @chaos2876 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@PilotTed The M4a1 is around 800rpm, and typical sustained bursts are 3 seconds. And you missed the part where i said "practical" rate of fire. Referring to how many rounds you're actually going to be putting downrange in a firefight at the given rate. The M4 has a fire rate of 800 rpm, but practically in an actual combat scenario, you're probably going to hold a rate consistent rate of fire of about 30rpm at max due to a plethora of reasons. And if the MG42 were to hold a 7 second burst, it would go through around 150 rounds. At max you would hold 2 second bursts for the MG42, we're talking 75 round magazines or typically around 200 round belts. Practical rof is different from mechanical rof, and its the entire reason higher rate of fire for infantry weapons is arbitrary, and generally unfavorable.

    To begin with, the type 92 is not that much slower than the M17 or M60 and rate of fire is overrated anyway, it comes at a price. You burn through ammo at a crazy rate so you have to allocate additional squad members as ammo carriers, barrel overheats quickly and has to be swapped out constantly (remember the asbestos gloves) and is less accurate, especially with a poorly trained gunner. The real advantage of the MG42 was how easy it was to move around and walking fire is perfectly doable. (I base that on personal experience with the MG3 which is essentially a MG42 rechambered for 7.62 Nato)
