    As a Japanese person who grew up as a child in rural America and became bilingual that way, I suggest not using English when your kid is around. I can't guarantee anything, but I believe the more you're exposed to a language, the better you get at it.

    Hi I am from the USA, and I enjoy your channel. ❤
    I agree with Trevor that identity is something that is layered. I’m American. I’m North American. I’m a Southerner. I’m black. I’m of African, Indigenous American and Irish descent. I’m Creole. I’m Coatopian. I’m a member of my family clan. Soy Hispanohablante. It’s all me.

    This is how my Zambian language CiBemba is fused with English. Translation: "You. Don't talk as if you've never seen a good marriage."
    Language is dynamic and I can speak this flawlessly because CiBemba advent isn't so heavy.

    Man, this video is so amazing, I am watching it for the first time "with you" , Trevor Noah is amazing truly my favorite. Once I was talking in University with a guy who volunteered and he's from Northern Ireland and he could speak Romanian (my native language) and for a moment I thought he was from Romania cuz he spoke really good, his accent was nearly accurate I just a bit noticed some..foreign accent, and ok I didn't know to speak Irish accent but I mixed American and British accent and speaking Romanian lol I don't know why, I thought to help him to understand in English better and also to improve Romanian hah, but It was cool, it's cool to speak with foreigners (but yeah realistically not all of them are gonna be interesting/interested) once I met a French guy filming in Moldova like in the capital and I spoke the boring English cuz I didn't speak French that well but it was interesting also, from every culture we can find somethin' interesting (yes I did a little French accent and tried to speak a bit French but I forgot it hah ,he laughed but I spoke mostly American E.)

    Trevor spoke of something similar happening in the US, particularly in regards to people of "mixed" ancestry...
    One example: When Barack Obama was running for President in 2007/2008, he was a "mixed" race candidate. But as soon as he was elected, he became the US first "black" President.

    • @anndeecosita3586
      @anndeecosita3586 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I always heard people refer to Obama as black even when he ran for president. I remember when he gave a key note address at the DNC convention in 2004 as an Illinois Senator. If you had never heard of him until he became a presidential candidate you weren’t paying attention.

    Same with how people try to refer Indian subcontinent as "South Asia". When it's someone doing good or something good coming from Indian culture/people, it is referred as "South Asian". When it's something bad, they are suddenly Indian. I hate the term "South Asian". It is the Indian subcontinent.

    hello. i like your video but i feel like i need to add something about the south african 10111 emergency number. i think it started in 2012 and has been an absolute failure. i am not blaming the operators but our leaders who are getting fatter by the day from eating our taxes whilst providing very few services with our tax revenue. from april - june 2023 a total of 6228 people was murdered in our country. in the last 3 years a total of 6.3 million calls to our 10111 went unanswered. in a country with such a high crime rate, who do we call? sorry for the negative message, but it pains me that trevor can make jokes about this. sorry again. (p.s. in case someone reads this and think i am making these stats up, they are all verifiable from government websites)

    First time i see this video about Trevor Noah and what i have to say is that he is turning the words in his advantage. The french letter is about all the racist comments that were on the net and on the news saying french team is african team, while it s not a team about origins of each member but a team of citizens. Bringing always origins is an american concept. Then he turns the words saying they were celebrating the africaness of the players and why can t we be both ?
    Of course we can be both african and french, But most people who said this team is african were indeed not good intentionated, it was not said in a celebrating way So he should stop trying to twist the reality of the violence of most of the tweets and comments that were made about most. It was no célébration anywhere, only they were mocking and were indeed racist bringing race at a place It wasn t even the subject.

    • @easyware
      @easyware ปีที่แล้ว +6

      "The french letter is about all the racist comments that were on the net"
      Sorry but your statement is completely false. The Ambassador's letter to Trevor Noah was not about racist comments on the Internet. The letter was addressed to Trevor Noah because of his comment calling the team African. Trevor Noah is not responsible for any racist tweets that any random people posts. He was simply defending what HE said. And he defended it perfectly well. He even said he understands why the Ambassador wrote what he did but he still defended his statement. Anyone who has any problems with racists Tweets should direct their anger to the tweeter.

    • @anndeecosita3586
      @anndeecosita3586 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      What Trevor said had nothing to do with Twitter comments. And race is not strictly an American concept. In fact, the USA has long had diverse teams when it comes to international games. Jesse Owens and other people of African descent represented the USA in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin while Hitler was in power. What to know how many non Aryan people represented Germany that year?
