    He made a huge professional strategic mistake in leaving the group. An old piece of advice "if you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go far GO TOGETHER! " This applies in all walks of life.

    The ego is a dangerous thing. The blame, control, defensive games often arise when one believes being the best. Somewhat it's more like fear, wanting solo as you didn't expect the rest to flourish as they did. If it were all their fault, they wouldn't have made it thus far. It's impossible for the arrogance you described to survive success. And again, life is experience and moving on; and if that's what you really desired, wish you the best to overflow. As well as for all the rest❣
    God bless🙏❤

      I am puzzled by this: Some statements indicate that Collabro were together for 2 years; but other statements say Richard left after the finals. But the finals are surely just weeks after the first audition. So how long were they together? Also, why did Richard get fewer solos as each video was recorded? In interviews he was given almost no air time, no time or opportunity to join in the chat? Before anyone disagrees with my remarks, do check out the various you tube clips of Collabro first.

    Richard was a very important part of the five-man group Collabro. Each singer of the group had a fantastic voice but as Richard says here each voice was different and all five together made the harmony mesh together perfectly yet at the same time did highlight each members unique vocals equally. Their original harmony was unlike any superior collaboration that I had ever heard before. So sorry to hear that he felt, for his happiness, he had to leave Collabro due to the internal conflict within the group. I am certain the he as well as the remaining four members of Collabro will have very successful careers and I wish them all well. I am a Collabro subscriber on TH-cam and now will also be a Richard Hadfield subscriber as I think Richard's vocals are amazing.

    I just got the feeling yhat in spite of the incredible blending of their voices, Richard has found it difficult.t tp not be in the forefront.

    The five members were extremely powerful and it is unfortunate Richard has had to move on. There is a marked difference in the sound with only four. All the best to all of you.

    I think his ego took a big hit. He will be better off as a single if he can't handle being part of a group. In their first audition, his mannerisms were so over the top where no one else's were. He obviously wanted to have the most attention.

    The other four have gone on with the act and are doing well. Richard seems to have disappeared. I get the feeling that he wanted to be a big star on his own so he left, but it didn't work out for him.

  • @thomasredman3777

    But the quality of their voices together is rare, one does not hear that very often. However, have said that, they all have their own high quality solo voice. My understanding, is that they got together because they could not fine singing jobs in musicals/films, etc. There are just too many high quality voices vying for solo musical roles...and let's face it, they (?) only let so many reach the top: singing, dancing or playing and instrument. Also, I think Richard and the bass fellow probably have the best chance of making it on a long term basis...perhaps not stardom, but sought after voices. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

    • @jocelynr4940
      @jocelynr4940 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      + Thomas Redman Which one is the bass fellow? Matt seems to have the lowest voice, Jamie is a cross between baritone and tenor. But I don't think any of them are classified as bass. Tom has the best show voice of any of them.

    They made a big success as four, but I definitely feel that the sound was not quite the same as when there were five. I think, in the end, he made a mistake by leaving. If you want to go really far, you go together. After a number of years together, then maybe do something on your own. However, when you're not willing to "work it out" then you go. I think he should have stood it out longer. He barely made it past the final. Such a shame.

    I do interviews,and I saw the way that man interviewed you, he manipulated you and threw you away, these people are not interested in anybody but themselves.. humility has its way of making it possible.. c,mon Richard you all have that special.. thing to offer... every group has issues, just work it out.... we can work it out. Your own self respect is not at stake.. Richard you really can do it ... ring them and say it's time to get together. Be the man Richard.. I,m not going. To do any more.. stubbornness is ruination....

      Having viewed a few of their performances again I notice that Richard was somewhat left out of the actual solo parts of a song. Perhaps he sang 1 sentence only, while others sang a full verse, or two. Richards voice is truly lovely. Did he actually bring the group together? How did they meet each other, and know they all have lovely voices? He was my favourite voice in Collabro. But I would love to have him a member of the group always.

    Wow. I just a few minutes ago found out about Richard leaving Collabro. I kinda saw it coming though as well, but hoped it wouldn't come to pass.
    Question for you all: @10:35 What did Richard say that "he couldn't stick around with that"? I've listened a handful of times at that particular section, and turned on captions, to no avail.
    Is anyone willing & able to translate that garbled part of the recording for me?

    • @debramassey4727

      My Sam, I just listened to it. It sounded like he said "it's sad that it had to happen but I just couldn't stick around" not sure but that's what it sounded like to me.

    • @debramassey4727
      @debramassey4727 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      My Sam yes you are correct, Richard did say he had a problem with "the members" of the group which made it sound to me he had a problem with all of them. Richard is the only one speaking about this publicly. The only thing the members of Collabro have said in a statement they issued is They wish Richard the best!

      @@ceptabc After I read about the split, and looked at the videos, I sense that something else was going on that was not being said, and they all agreed to keep it to themselves, rather than "air their dirty laundry in public," as the old saying goes. Just a feeling that something else is amiss., and cannot be said outright, out of fear/concern for their reputations/popularity of the group. When one person leaves a group, especially so without warning, sometimes they don't even tell the others the truth/the full truth, and sometimes they don't even know the real reason themselves. It was reported that Richard was "unhappy for a long time," which makes ME wonder why he even joined the group to begin with, if they had only been "together for a month," at the time of their stunningly-awesome audition in front of the four judges, on the show. It's also a bit odd to hear that the group held together as long as they did, after they won the season, as didn't they tour together for a while, or was the report that they stayed together until '16 a mis-stated fact?

  • @pauld5328
    @pauld5328 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    I loved these guys blend from the start. Jamie and Richard had the best solo voices but none of them are as good without the others. The sound changes without Richard. I saw this coming when one of the judges singled Richard out as having a beautifuul tone to his voice. I thought uh oh. Here come the jealousies. They all struggled trying to go it alone. Why did they forget that so quickly? The charm of the group is tarnished.

      Not for their fans all over the world! Many of us believe Collabro is now better than ever. Their voices have matured nicely, are more distinctive, and their arrangements are far more complex and intricate. Check out the first two tracks from their new album "Home", on iTunes, Amazon.

      Heather Jamieson I agree! I saw them in concert when they came to the U. S. Their sound is better now than it ever has been and they seem much more relaxed now. I'm not saying they were not good with Richard in the group. But Collabro is definitely not tarnished in any way. They are stronger than ever and their charm is still there! Richard went on with the music he loves, which is not the type that Collabro wanted to concentrate on. I loved them then and I love them now! I will try to go see Richard if and when he comes to the U.S.

    One can see the lack of respect for Richard from the blond singer who wore a shirt with a black pocket in their first performance. This blond guy had a lengthy solo in their song at the initial audition. If the cold stares from this dude could cause chills, Richard would have frostbite.

      He should have stayed and matured with the group. The one and only question Richard should ask himself is, could I have won BGT by myself? The answer is no he could not. Listen to Simon's comments after their semi final and final performance. Richard did what Simon was against. Very immature thinking that hurt everyone. Foolish.

    Collabro is not the same without Richard. I would say the one in the middle Matt Pagan, that did most of the singing, couldn't sing and wasn't better than Richard. Pity Michael Auger lost the best member of the Group... Such a sin to waste such talent!

    • @jancason8011
      @jancason8011 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think that Matt was perhaps more of an asset to the band than Richard, in a sense of 'the long run'. Matt was fabulous, and seemed to have had previous vocal coaching which only enhanced the voice he had naturally. He could sing a lot of different parts of each song very very well, except perhaps for those beginnings and endings that fell to Richard, who sang them gloriously. I think their sound without Richard is different, neither better nor worse. They sing the songs we expect to hear from them, and sound terrific. Still, if the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and many other truly great bands could work out all their ego problems, you would think Collabro could have perhaps taken a leaf out of their book and worked through the problems, instead of saying "Well, I'm not playing with you either. So there!'' like a few five year olds. A great band could have been an even greater one. Such is life.....
