  • Interested in feeling cooler during those hot summer days and nights without the added expense of a full-on air conditioning unit? Perhaps you may want to consider getting a domestic home air ciculating fan instead. This is an unboxing and review of one of the available choices on the market right now; the "MeacoFAN 1056AC".

    Seen various reviews which put this fan along with a duux fan at the top of the list. I already have a Dyson air cooler/purifier which is great.. I couldn’t afford another one but I needed something else for my flat in this heat, this fan is great, if anything I find it’s slightly cooler than the Dyson (although it doesn’t have the purifying function) Thank you for the review which really helped me make my mind up.

    I have the pedestal version and would highly recommend it.even in the high heat its been fantastic.iv had it ponted straight at the bed at night on number 1-2 and its almost silent and produces a cool breeze,defo cooler than a normal fan.

    Should of stood back as far as you can to see how far it blows. The question everybody wants to know.

      This fan moves a lot of air for its size. You can feel the air moving from across the length of a louge/sitting room, even at lower settings, and this becomes much more obvious on the higher settings, of course. In the bedroom where everything is naturally a closer, this fan proves its worth even more even on the lower settings when proximity to the fan is narrowed. This means for us at least personally, having the fan on the lowest setting is still enough to aid in making sleeping on a hot night much more comfortable. If you don't mind increasing the noise along with the speed, then try that out, but I'd almost guarantee almost anyone will end up reducing the speed when using this fan to aid sleeping, as the higher settings prove to be too much wind, never mind the increased noise. Bearing in mind that the noise is mostly coming from the air movement (becoming wind) rather than the fan driving it to be that fast. I hope this helps with your criticism of my video.

    Thank you for the review. Apart from the quietness and nice design.. am just wondering, Is this fan actually powerful? Will it be any good in an extreme UK heatwave? Many thanks.

      Fans on their own won’t cool down an environment. They move air around though, creating a breeze. If you are caught in that breeze, then this aids in body sweat evaporation more efficiently than air which is not moving; which in turn, helps to make you feel cooler.
      The fan blades are a good diameter which means they move a lot of air. Various fan speed potential means you can create a very gentle breeze up to one which feels quite blustery. But you need to be in it to benefit from it.
      I hope this helps.

    Would you reccomend this for a flat just to help cool living room or bedroom? And is this the exact same size as the pedastal one?

    • @GiddyShark
      @GiddyShark  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Bejore Everton. Fans on their own don’t cool rooms, but they make the occupant(s) of rooms feel cooler. I’m not sure about the size of the pedestal version compared to this fan. I’d imagine they’re the same. We bought this one as it offered more freedom to positioning around the house in our opinion. Just note though, this fan never points down from horizontal, only horizontal and up. I’d still highly recommend this fan, but if a pedestal version is more of a preference, then I’d say just go for it and buy with confidence.

    Bought the fan at the end of 2022 summer...ran it maybe 20 hours....very quiet. Cranked it up in May....probably ran it for 90 hours. Then this HUM starts up. Lot of noise. I take the fan apart....thinking a cleaning will help. NO. Without the blade on....the HUM continues (even at lowest speeds). No comment from support line. I don't advise the fan for purchase.

      Sounds perhaps like a bearing has become corroded during storage. Where did you keep the fan over the winter? Somewhere with high humidity? We keep ours in the main living areas of the house all the time and we have nothing like that. We’ve had this fan since I made this video and every summer it’s pulled out it’s box and used without issue.

    Any chance you know how to mute the beeps on this fan?

    • @Gainn

      You can't (unless you're comfortable with modifying the circuit board).
      The smaller (650) model seems to be the only one of theirs that has an off function for the beep.

    Hi, quick question. How did this air circulator cope last night with the humidity and where did you buy yours from, I can't get one anywhere. We have the next model down (Meaco 650). which I think it's best suited as a desk fan. Thanks in advance

      Hi. So we bought this one from Costco. They had loads of them available at the weekend past (at least at my closest Costco they did). What you have to understand is that this is an air circulating fan. So this is what it does. It circulates only. It doesn't cool the air. But, pointing towards you, or set it in motion to pass the air by you regularly makes you feel cooler despite the temperature and humidity. I compared this fan to an air conditioning unit. It was the running costs of each compared which made me go for a fan (at least to see how we got on initially). You were looking at about 11p to run this fan for 12hrs, or over £2 for the same time using an air conditioner. The performance of this fan is great. I have it sat on the floor where I took the video, and let it move the air flow around the lounge with us sat on the settee about 2.5-3m away from the fan. When it points the air flow towards you, even at the lowest setting of 1, it's enough to give you some respite from the heat. Very nice indeed. The noise from the fan is very low too, meaning it's not intrusive against the TV or whatever else is going on in the same room at the same time. It's a very nice piece of kit indeed. Recommended.

      @@GiddyShark thanks for you reply. I think I'll have to get your larger model. I spoke to Meaco this morning and the representative I spoke to said he had it on setting 2 last night and he was able to get a comfortable nights sleep so whilst it's a little more expensive than a regular fan it is seems like that additional cost was worth it. Costco doesn't have any left online so I'll have to spend a little more and to get it elsewhere because everywhere has sold out, but thanks again for your comments.

    Can't decide whether to get this or the pedestal version. I have an old pedestal fan at the moment but find it gets in the way and is difficult to store in the winter months. Is the version you reviewed more suited for a desk? Would I need to put it on a table or something similar?

    • @TheChiraagG

      We use ours on the floor cos it can aim up and down at the same time as left and right. Works well and is much better than the Dyson we have.

    Costs too much for what it is, even though I got it for £80 it cools the room no different to a regular cheap fan. Pretty much paying for the quiet factor which again is only for levels 1-4 after that it sounds like a regular fan.

    Hi, nice review. I was given this air circulator 2nd hand, but the blades need a good clean. Do you know how I can disassemble the front of the unit to get to clean the blades?

    • @GiddyShark
      @GiddyShark  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Steve, thank for your positive input. I’m an engineer, so I’m well versed with taking things apart and fixing them etc, however, I only do so if needs must. I’ve never needed to disassemble our Meaco fan. We box it up over the winter and only bring it out during the summer months. So I can’t help you I’m afraid. You’ll just have to go ahead yourself and be careful about it. Perhaps worth a video of your own to show the rest of us when you succeed? 😉👍
      Good luck though!

    Check the electricity bill in 2023
    As you said.
    "It's about circulating air". Warm air. And it can do no more that that. Apart from heating the air more with its own motor.
    Better to close the doors and windows during the day.
    No bill in 2023 for that.
