    What if there's no FTL capable species, how long would it take for the primitives to conquer the galaxy?
    Well, turns out, quite a while

      I wish the game would actually spawn us as one of those empires: Some are at entirely different levels in front of us, while even others are relatively close to us, and EVEN OTHERS are basically pre-FTL civs.

    • @Bobylein1337
      @Bobylein1337 8 ปีที่แล้ว +200

      Actually with default settings it does, you have the pre-ftl civs that will evolve over game time if they are allowed to develope freely, then there are the standard civs like you who start out with a planet and then there are the advanced AI's who start out with several systems.
      Also there are the fallen empires but I wouldn't count them as they are pretty passive.

    This almost seems like the classical history of a galactic empire, from emerging, rising and expanding, all the way up to slowly stagnating, up to a point where even the extradimensional invaders are completely ignored even after the homeworld of the empire is taken by them, which then causes this great empire to fall. And the fall of this seemingly technologically superior empire (they *won* a war against a half-the-galaxy-wide empire!!) will without doubt determine the fate of the galaxy (hint: not a nice one for organic beings).
    I guess you all know that I'm talking about the Confederation of Figyar Worlds / Republic of Polymar.

    Judging from the fact that the fvideo is 505 seconds long, I'm gonna assume that each second is two years.
    Year 248: The Unbidden emerge in Polymar space.
    Year 488: The Ben'Thell Commonwealth gets its ass kicked in an internal power struggle. The Republic of Polymar decides to be an opportunist and join in the asskicking.
    Year 532: The Ben'Thell Commonwealth makes major gains against the separatists.
    Year 574: The Ben'Thell Commonwealth wins another war against the separatists.
    Year 584: The Ben'Thell Commonwealth wins a liberation war against the remaining separatists, apparently.
    Skipped a lot
    Year 896: The Ben'Thell Commonwealth wins a war against the other two major powers, after steamrolling them for a few centuries. Also the unbidden are out of control apparently.
    There should be far more separatist threats.

    That's one dangerous butterfly! What was curious was how the number two to pop onto the galactic stage, just right of the middle, proceeded to do absolutely nothing in terms of expansion for hundreds of years only to be swallowed up. It also seems like the AI never endeavored to give the Unbidden the death blow, instead favoring other pursuits after containing one of their invasions and then just being hit with the next wave each time. Cool timelapse, thanks!

  • @Fulgrim88
    @Fulgrim88 8 ปีที่แล้ว +42

    Very cool! You have the "ancient" race of Polymar doing fairly amazing until they trigger the unbidden, which gives the two other upstarts time to grow. Astoundingly, the Polymar actually manage to hold back the tide and even repel the Bhenn'Thell incursion, before finally the Homeworld falls to a massive second wave of Unbidden reinforcements, leaving the weakened Space Byzantium in a desperate fight for survival :P
    I hope they make this a starting option for the players as well, leaving the Universe X years to develop before you can join in.
    This would give some much needed extra history and character to the randomly generated Empires.

    I expected the larger three to grow to each control roughly one-third of the Galaxy each, then have nearly all of then surrounded by the unbidden. Suddenly, they work together, and the wormhole is destroyed in a final push to the end, and the unbidden disappear. The three empires, now with their borders pushed back to their core worlds, all stop expanding, because they notice the futility in a large empire, and go their separate ways as fallen empires, watching around a dozen small new blips appear on the map, and begin to expand.

    would love an mod that makes every species to an primitiv secies
    would need codes to "fight" on just one planet, and to research the basic techs... play the scenario how the planet came united... create yout traits in this war for dominance and create your goverment... HOW do you win? how do you unite your people? war? technology? religion? money? how do YOU it. that makes your species...
    could be an awesome mod or an awesome DLC both is great :D

    Aww, I really feel for the Republic. First to emerge, expand, and encounter another alien species. The Unbidden emerged in their space and, for a while, held them off and beat them back. Then there was the sudden shift to the south, giving the Unbidden the distraction they needed. Republic worlds fell, and even their homeworld was consumed...

    This video pop up for me, and I just remembered how wild this game used to be, with the 3 kinda of FTL, system stealing by building towns of space stations close to the desired border, and the sectors wanting to become independent as soon as you made them like f-ing dumbasses and your inability to do anything about it, and last but not least the crazy ending win conditions like own 60 % of the galaxy or pops or whatever

  • @TheSpeedDawg
    @TheSpeedDawg 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Our people were first in many things.
    The first to reach for the stars. The first to create august dominion.
    The first to come in contact with them.
    We never knew comfort. Throughout our history, we've continuously pushed our limits and overcame every obstacle. As we were ready to harvest the fruits of our labor, a peaceful age of harmony within and cooperation with other species outward, they came. From impossible angles, with their maddening, unexplainably-shaped forms, they slaughtered entire planets by the millions. Many went insane from simply looking upon them. And even when many other empires saw it as an opportunity to stab us in the back and seize resources and territory, we did not fall into despair.
    As we always did, we carried on.
    Eventually, we started understanding them. Their profane manifestations in our three-dimensional space started to show patterns, and the underlying mechanisms of how they worked unraveled. Suddenly, not only were we capable of destroying them - we started being proficient at it.
    However, it was not the only front we fought on. To the south, the Bhenn'Thell cared little for our struggle. Whether they thought they could rid the galaxy of the invaders themselves after we were gone, or they had other plans after they would subjugate us was not our concern. But only through ingenuity and adaptiveness could we stand on multiple fronts. Perhaps the unbidden were a blessing in disguise - pushing us to overcome in ways we would not even be able to conceive of if we had not endured the pressure they brought onto us.
    Our allies to the west were more merciful. An ally might seem like a strong word, as we were still fighting their forces every decade or so, but compared to the invaders or the southern imbeciles, they were the best ally we could hope for, occasionally defending themselves against the unbidden menace.
    Generations upon generations bred, raised and lost to fight war upon war. I am just another cog in the great machine of war to ensure a future of our people.
    But I will try, and I pray that we win, in the end, and at last earn our age of peace.

    I was really rooting for the Republic of Polymar since they were the first ones to really start expanding. Then the Unbidden showed up and ruined everything, like they always do. After that it was really nothing that could be done to save them. The Unbidden seized their homeworld and all their original colonies and everyone around them took advantage of their weakened state to steal as much territory as they could. Kind of sad honestly.

  • @DerFreiegedanke

    Ah this needs to be a a game mode with some game play additions. Every one starts as primitives in the modern are and there are internal political events and some buildup like space ports, elevators, moon base, the first station before you make a leap into the "age of strife" where you get your interstellar travel. After that the "normal" Stellaris game starts. this would be awesome. I wish there would be an overall culture state that is influenced by different aspects of your empire. For example if you get into the "age of strife" you get a bonus to ship speed research and colony building. When you expand too quick or if you expand X-light years form your home system this state changes over time to maybe "Stable Empire" with minor bonus to stability and no more research. You you Expand too quick in too short of time you get "Unstable Expansion" where you start loosing control over your fringe worlds event hat far that you can loose them and they declare Independence. Then you get events to prevent this or you can send out fleets to the systems to passively suppress them or even let them be impended and you get a new vassal. So much potential...

    It's interesting seeing the AI actually reclaim some of the Unbidden territory early on. In the games I've played, the AI doesn't have anyway way to deal with them. Even with the portal closed and the Unbidden's wings clipped, the AI won't enter a system if has any left over defense platforms. If I were to speculate I'd say they left out the AI coding for interacting with them.

    my guess is what happens is the Republic was holding most if not 89% of military forces at borders of unbidden. This way they managed to isolate the bastard's for centuries...though as we see there are occasional outbreaks but very minimal. my guess is most of the other empires have forgotten about the unbidden threat and stroked the republic at borders. This caused the Republic to initiate emergency transport of large number of military from the borders of unbidden to the borders being attacked by the Commonwealth. This though caused the unbidden to bloat too much and the republic was too late to contain the bastards. the republic is like a buffalo with 2 lions on it. yikes
