I bought a Huffy PE 27.5 to ride with my grandchildren. The front breaks were almost none existent but the was ok. What I did was rearrange the washers on her side to the brakepad side and Wahla...front brakes work.
I have 2 huffy bikes the older one has no problems butthe newer one started giving me embarrassing brake noises! Was about to go buy another bike. This video really helped a beginner like me with tuning my brakes! Thanks!
The problem I’m having, is that one of my brake pads is constantly against the rim. I tried adjusting the tension, but nothing came from that. Funny enough, this was happening to my front brakes, but my dad helped me out with that. He also helped me out adjusting the tension on my back brakes so it didn’t take half a year to make a full stop. But now my back brakes have the problem I stated before, where one of the brakes pans is constantly hugging the rim
I think that's the reason why my bike starts slowing down everytime I tried coasting (like i stop pedalling when the bike is moving) plus when I'm going too fast, my bike starts slowing down when my front gear is up to 3 and the rear is at 6
A couple years late lol but i heard him mention that the break pads go on the rim and shouldn’t touch the tire so having one of your break pads constantly on the rim should be normal no?
This is the best video so far for MOST of the adjustments, but I haven't found anyone that addresses actually adjusting the BRAKE PADS rubbing the rims. Trial and error, if I loosen the cable the pad on the right side of rear tire moves away from the rim, but then the rear brake handle goes to the handle bars.....So I can't ride my new Mother's Day bike.
Any ideas for getting the brakes to work on my Huffy USA Timberline 18 spd Index Multi terrain, with centerpull brakes. I've adjusted everything, replaced all the cables and ground, cut and sanded the pads for full contact with the rims. Sanded and cleaned the rims with 99% alcohol. If you were going down a hill you'd be dead by the time you stopped. I think new pads would be a waste of money? I'd need to shim the new pads for the not square contact the caliper arms make. I'll not wast any more time reshaping the pads like I did on the old ones. The thing is a death trap on anything besides flat ground at 5 mph????
This video taught me how to adjust the brake pad angle, however I still have issues where my brake pads are too close to one another and my tire is rubbing against the brake pad without the brakes engaged. How do I allow more space between the brake pad and rim?
Take a metric socket wrench and loosen the domed cap nut holding the cable. Pull the cable a tiny bit so that the excess cable after the nut is lessened and reclamp the nut. This loosens the tension of the brakes.
Tension screws had virtually no effect on evening out breaking, and the plastic inserts that those screws go into stripped out on first attempt. Because they're plastic. Screw heads nearly stripped out using a proper-fitting screwdriver because the screws are so soft. Replacement parts are not in stock on the Huffy site. Besides, the brake handles on a 24" kids bike--adjusted in ALL the way--are still just reachable by my adult Large hands. How's a kid supposed to reach brakes clearly designed for adults? Wish more thought was put into design, between plastic parts, soft screws, and unreachable brake handles.
thank you the manual I got, the video i viewed, time to go all out on the brakes and get them right, and show all how we do it as well. I bet I get 20 views no more
THUMBS DOWN on this video. Why? Because when you switched to the left side of the break. WE COULD NOT SEE WHAT YOUR HANDS ARE DOING!! Lazy lazy! 😂Next time move the camera!

Thanks for the help, GREAT VIDEO.
Thank you Huffy. All I needed to know to tune up my bike.
This really helped because I have that issue on my rear brakes
As a beginner, this helped a bunch with tuning my brakes. I had to do a lot of trial and error the first time - this is far faster.
Thanks, this very helpful and I have the exact same model bike.
Great video!

My back break closes on one side but does. It open

How do i stop the brake cable with the little rubber thing from touching my front tire on my 29 inch rock creek bike?
Saying “thank you” to appease the algorithm
Any videos on adjustments for skipping gears?
Thanks for that.
That little screw and nut to adjust the tension is no longer on my bike. Where do I buy one?
piece of the plastic where the brakes are chipped off and the break can come off easily. should i weld it back?
Thanks man
Thanks!!!!
When I squeeze the brake the plastic on top of the tire gets squeezed how to I fix that to give it more room
sadly, in my case the tension screw does nothing, so one side is always rubbing the rim.
I just bought a Huffy and this is the exact problem im having
Me to I have a huffy superia and has the same problem
I think I did something bad. Front brakes squealing so I turned them around….
why does huffy exist?
Idk
