Appreciate that bro learned alot i been learning alot this past year and i feel like im almost a master engeenir just needed to learn how to fully use ozone 9 and abbey road from waves my new batch of songs are gonna sound so proffesional thanks to your info
Nice video bro, hope your channel grows! Working on my Rap & Hip-Hop music here and Ozone 9 is great especially is the Master Assistant feature for quick mastering.
I like ozone eq (both static and dynamic) in mid/side mode. Static is analog or digital, and dynamic eq always analog mode. Phase shift slider in digital mode can be useful too.. i like to phase shift low freq in side channel, but no shift in others.
helpful, thank you! also that was a nice mix too! just a minor advice from me that I think you probably just forgot: the final before and after listening with gain match. anything else was so nice. thumbs up!
Hello! You mentioned that you already put things like a compressor on the mixing bus. What does that mean? Can someone do a master using only ozone 9 and tonal balance control? Does ozone 9 have a compressor and would someone need to add a compressor module ( even though you didn’t in this example)? Thank you!!
Thanks for an interesting tutorial. All tutorials I have seen so far generate Ozone settings by sampling the loudest section of the song. I am wondering then what would be the approach on a track with highly variable dynamics from section to section. By sampling the loudest section of a track does Ozone automatically increase the level of quieter sections and if so by how much? Presumably if you apply the Ozone settings that work well for the loudest section another quieter section with different instrumentation (e.g. acoustic guitar and subdued synth intro) will need different settings; would you approach that by automating Ozone parameters as the track progresses?
It honestly depends on the song. I would say 99% of the time I don't automate anything during mastering. All music has softer and louder parts. In mastering the softer parts still stay softer than the louder parts. I would say no mix should be extremely dynamic or it's not mixed well. If it's an orchestral piece then that's a different story.
@@AudioSorcerer The tracks I am working on are in the prog rock genre influenced by Pink Floyd, Genesis, Led Zeppelin and others. There can be a few different musical settings (varying instruments) within a single track that inevitably lead to say 4db to 5db range from quiet to loud passages. If we take a track like this one I would assume by the varying range of musical settings and instrumentation that at the mastering stage there would need to be some adjustments to EQ and stereo imaging as the track progresses th-cam.com/video/iXQUu5Dti4g/w-d-xo.html
I would say it's up to you on how you want to handle it. If you send it off to a mastering engineer he's probably just going to set one level for the whole mix. I would want to see less drastic changes in the actual mix level wise. When you start automating levels in mastering it starts to becoming mixing.
@@AudioSorcerer So if Led Zeppelin sent you their classic track "Stairway to Heaven" with its dynamic range from -8db to 0db would you suggest they remix trying to obtain a more even level of say -3db throughout the track before mastering? To my ears the contrast of moods and dynamics in this track is what makes it shine and I would have thought that evening out the dynamics would be detrimental to the impact of the song.
I don't know how even you could make that particular song. If you were going to modify the dynamic at all it would need to happen in the mixing stage though and not mastering. Mastering is mostly a "set and forget" process.
Hi there, When using Ozone 9 in stand alone mode, how do I change the audio preferences to play through my audio interface or on my headphones. At the moment the sound is only coming out of my computer speakers! Basically can you tell me where the audio routing is located in the preferences window please. Best Regards Shane
thank you so much..very helpful
I'm glad I could help! 👍

Thanks for checking out the video Mert. I definitely like the gain match feature.

You can strictly master a song using Ozone and nothing else.

Go to the Window tab at the top and then select Audio Devices. You can choose your playback device in there.
Amazing tool!!! But very expensive to buy here In Brazil!!! Waiting an opportunity to one day i can buy it... now im usong slate digital master FX
Slate's mastering plugin is very solid. 👍
Audio Sorcerer comparing Slate and Ozone options, i saw that Slate is more simple than Ozone... i think Ozone has so many features!!!
I use Slate Mastering for many years but i like one day to test Ozone... to compare the diferences...
But here in Brazil Ozone is so expensive... even the Element version... 1 dollar here corresponds 5 Reais... our currency
Mixed my music. Sounds good on laptop and headphones but not in car. Any tips? 😕
It's likely your mixing environment. You might want to look at getting something like this: th-cam.com/video/byyLEYk1nZw/w-d-xo.html
Damn i was hoping you weren't going to use asistants moving on.
What’s the point of using the software then lol
De fuck that fury animal doing on your head? Love the content though. Keep up the good work.
