  • This video is a TUTORIAL on how to varnish a large Canvas print. It doesn't matter if it is a Fine art print or a photograph print, the procedure is the same as long as it is printed on canvas.
    Any print on canvas should always be varnished with professional varnish to protect it from UV rays. That's how prints are kept nice and vibrant for many years to come without fading.
    I have my original paintings scanned in professional studio using museum scanner, that's how I get really high quality digital images. My art is than printed on Canon iPF8400 large format printer which uses 12-ink pigment system. This machine is a beast.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------
    For varnishing large canvas prints I use:
    * Large, Huge, Massive, XXL Canvas Print (obviously)
    * Large Foam Roller (Damp, moist)
    * Pole extension for Roller
    * Hahnemuhle Varnish (Satin) - bit.ly/3oquPgB
    * A Bucket for Varnish
    --------------------------------------------------------------------
    FILMED with iPhone 7 Plus. SORRY for poor video quality, I will upgrade soon.
    For video editing I use DaVinci Resolve - an awesome piece of software!
    And it is Free!

      Forgot to say funny you mention hair in the resin everything adheres to it even particles floating in air.so frustrating as I dont have a large box to throw over my projects . next on the list. I wish I could find some sort of fine mesh netting that was collapsible or could drape easy over a project. a large silicone box type would even be awesome

    Thank you so much for sharing this, this is incredibly helpful. Do you by chance have a link to the type of foam roller that you used? I'm having difficulty locating a foam roller of that size. Thanks again!

      Thanks Charlie! I'm sorry but I don't have a link since I buy these in a local home-improvement store. If you don't find them online, try your local home-improvement stores...

    Clever taping it down. After varnishing, how pliable is it when you stretch it on a frame?

      Thank you! I’m sorry but I don’t use Amazon... I’ve bought roller and handle in a local home improvement store. I’m sure you can find similar Roller, just find one that has larger diameter and is wider, so that it can cover way more surface in one turn. Good luck!

      I'm sorry you feel that way. This print came out flawless and the customer loved it. I would love to see a video of how you do this, looks like I could learn to do it better. Thanks a lot 🙏
